Basic Info:

  • Office buildings owned by the company often associated with the zombie outbreak. From the outside, they are indistinguishable from other buildings, but characters with the NecroTech Employment skill are able to recognise them.
  • Among the internal descriptions found in NecroTech Buildings:
The NecroTech logo is set in the wall behind the front desk, and doors open onto powered-down computer rooms and laboratories."
  • If a generator is running inside the building:
"The NecroTech logo glows gently above the front desk, and doors open onto a number of brightly-lit laboratories and computer rooms."
  • NecroTech offices are tall enough for survivors to commit suicide from. They also provide a vantage point from which binoculars can be used.
  • Necrotech Buildings can be barricaded normally.

Description

The NecroTech logo glows gently above the front desk, and doors open onto a number of brightly-lit laboratories and computer rooms.

The Herbert Building is a NecroTech facility located in the suburb of Roftwood. Though a faceless corporate structure to the uninitiated, this facility acts as the heart of R&D for NecroTech within the suburb. Staff at this building commonly revive zombies at nearby revive points. This facility is one of two NecroTech facilities found in the suburb. Staying here is very convenient since it is attached to the Hildebrand Mall, with the Wotton Building (69,54) being used as an alternative entry-point into the mall for those seeking access who happen to be outside at the time (due to the Herbert Building's barricade policy).

This building became a hot-spot at the beginning of October 2005 when the Uncanny Valley Alliance declared Gall Lane as their offical revive point, but in January 2006 the revive point was moved to Moon Way due to attacks. At the beginning of January 2006, shortly after Hildebrand Mall had fallen to the zombies, a considerable number of survivors relocated themselves to the Herbert Building and used it as a safehouse (since it was much better to defend a 1-block building then a 4-block mall) from which they operated for retaking Roftwood. In September 2006, as part of the Roftwood campaign by The Apocalypse Horde, the building has been kept ransacked and occupied by the undead. All attempts to retake it have failed until March 2007 when during the Mall Tour '07 survivors re-took the building. Ever since it has gone back and forth as to which side has control over it.

Members of project NecroWatch rennovated the facility in recent months (during a brief period when survivors controlled the facility), durng which they installed sensor eyes for A.L.I.C.E. throughout the building and uploaded NecroNet 2.0 into the facility's system terminals.

Late December of 2017 was a time when the district was becoming more dangerous because of the growing amount of assaults that were carried out by zombie hoards against Roftwood. During this time survivors flocked to Herbert for safety, the building also attracted a lone ginger cat. This cat took up permanent residence inside of the Herbert building due to the famous durability of the NecroTech building, even when the zombies took control of the building and then was reclaimed by survivors they noticed that the cat remained and to their surprise was not eaten by the dead. The cat is friendly to humans that come into the building and when the building is under siege the cat goes hiding in the empty boxes that used to hold syringes where it made its bed. The cat does not have a collar when inspected so most have been naming the cat ‘Herbert’ after the building that it has made its home.

Necrotech

Mandate

NecroTech staff continue to follow directive 42-A, issued by the head office on January 19th 2006, with the activation and manufacture of MK-II revivification syringes. While the cost in time and effort are currently high the certainty provided by being able to manufacture a constant stream of syringes has mitigated early concerns.

The activation of NecroNet with all NecroTech buildings has also allowed scientists to apply the DNA tracking research they have gathered to date. The field research staff stationed at the Herbert Building feel certain that they can crack the mystery surrounding the spread of the virus as well as help monitor aberrant zombie activity within Roftwood.

Barricade Policy

This building should be Extremely Heavily (EH) barricaded at all times. This is in accordance with the barricade plans set forth by local survivors, who routinely monitor the barricade level for this building. This building is meant to serve as a safehouse for Malton's veteran survivors, and thus requires the Free Running skill to be properly utilized. Survivors who find the building's barricades below their assigned level are asked to assist in raising them back up in order to help ensure the safety of all the survivors staying inside the building. Any survivor found lowering the barricades may be directly "put to the question" by any survivors present at that time. If this happens the accused survivor must present a valid reason for their actions or be labeled a zombie spy/death cultist and be judged accordingly.

NecroNet Reports

Zombie tracking reports are a free service provided by the NecroTech corporation to all its staff and local survivors in order to help facilitate quicker response times when managing zombie threats and to build a greater awareness of zombie migration patterns within the 9x9 block region around the Herbert Building. As a cautious reminder, only those zombies tagged with the DNA Extractor will appear on these scans, so actual numbers may vary when dealing with older zombies (i.e. Brain Rot).
