20070603 Fires

M1592D 07:01, 3 June 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Building's/Random Event

Suggestion scope
Everyone/Buildings

Suggestion description
-Fires would not be a skill its just a random event

-Zombies and Humans can use it

-It only can happen when you kill someone

-It has a very very small chance of happening, somewhere around .00001% chance of happening

-This is based on the fact that every single day, somewhere around 10,000 kills happen, that means about once every 10 or so days, based on laws of probability, a building will burn down -Instead of killing everyone in the building, it does damage, as if the fire was attacking it

-I.E. every 3 hours or so, the fire attacks every person in that building at a hit % of 50% and hits a certain amount depending on the strength of the fire

-This would give people inside a chance to escape, similar to real life -The fire would have strengths, or levels, when a fire is started it is given a random strength:

  • Blazing -Hits 10-15
  • Very Strong -Hits 6-9
  • Strong -Hits 3-6
  • Smoldering -Hits 1-2

Any Human(With a fire extinguisher)can lower the level of a fire while standing outside that building

They have a 20% chance of lowering the fire by 1 level, but with either a skill, or starting as a fireman, it is 40%

After the fire the building will have to be fixed, in a similar way as a Ransacked building, anyone can fix it at the cost of 5AP, until fixed the building is unenterable

Can only happen in buildings with running Generators

I.E. You shoot/claw/bite Joe32 for 5HP. They die. Their body falls on the generator and starts a Very Strong Fire.

I.E. You use your Fire Extinguisher to calm the blaze, now the fire looks Smoldering

If you start a fire, you get half the XP you would have gotten if you personally attacked the people

You may have seen this one the hellrising wiki, that guy was me. i posted it here though, because UD would definatly do a better job with it.

Kill Votes

  1. First, with the probability you are suggesting, fires would basically be bodies that spontaneously comust. Second, even with higher odds. a couple of PKers waltz into a mall, kill a few people, a fire starts, everyone dies. I play a PKer, for crying out loud, and I don't think its too great of an idea. Third, the fire itself behaves as an NPC: It is not a player, it attacks players, players can attack it. I like my NPC-free games without the NPCs SgtBop 10:47, 3 June 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill Way too powerfull! Essentialy, what with people going online at different times you could burn a mall to the ground, killing hundereds.--Seventythree 11:54, 3 June 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - No way to escape unless you log in every few hours, and I've seen similar suggestions a few times before. --Saluton 16:45, 3 June 2007 (BST)
  4. Killify - Spontanious Combustion + Shiny new weapon for PK'ers + Multiply it by a Billion rule = Bad...--Charley C. 16:49, 3 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - And while we're at it, those who die in the fires automatically lose UD since their bodies will be incinerated in the fires! --Poodle of doom 02:43, 4 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Just killing a person/zombie shouldn't start a fire. Even at low percentages. --Sonofagun18 06:07, 4 June 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - Too over-powered... --JudeMaverick W! TJ! Talk Zzz... P! Nuts! 08:56, 4 June 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - I don't think it's as powerful as the the voters think: Once every ten days, 1 block out of 100,000 10,000 is on fire. That's not a lot. Plus, it would scale up without becoming overpowered: when the number of people in a building (who the fire could hurt) increases, so too does the number of people who could put out the fire, so overall the fire doesn't become any more dangerous. In fact, I think this is underpowered: most players would never even see a fire. --Toejam 13:33, 4 June 2007 (BST) edit crap, maths error.

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam As said above, just stronger. - BzAli 13:53, 3 June 2007 (BST)
  2. I believe there's already a fire suggestion in rejected, but I'm not looking for it, so my reason for spam...overpowered as 73. Unless someone finds a link, this remains a spam, and not a dupe. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 15:10, 3 June 2007 (BST) A link has been found, and a dupe vote this is. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 12:59, 4 June 2007 (BST)
  3. The Spamination Proclamation Spam because the whole point of fire in a game like this is pointless. Maybe make a class that controls the fire too? I love sarcasm. A dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 02:05, 4 June 2007 (BST)
EDIT: This is also a dupe of an older fire suggestion. Axe hack, merry christmas. This fire suggestion obviously didn't do as good as this older one. http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Suggestions/8th-Nov-2005#Fire.21 A dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 02:24, 4 June 2007 (BST)
  4. dupe. as per link.-- Vista  +1  20:15, 5 June 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam - Rare doesn't equal balanced. And I spam this because you broke that rule multiplied by a million. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 03:04, 10 June 2007 (BST)
  6. Dupe Suggestions/8th-Nov-2005#Fire.21 It's been suggested many times. --Anotherpongo 17:52, 15 June 2007 (BST)
