20070818 Encumbrance Notifier

 Savant  Chit-Chat  12:51, 18 August 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
improvement

Suggestion scope
Zombies and Survivors

Suggestion description
Arrival of the toolbox, made Survivors to carry heavier items in their bags. Since of the ruin improvement, every survivors must have a toolbox which is heavy. My idea applies to the "Encumbrance Display", which diplays the percentage of used encumbrance, when encumbrance achieves certain level, the encumbrance diplay turns red, just like with the AP display. When AP is under 10 points it turns red, so it reminds the player to seek shelter or anything else. If this idea is implemented, it could help survivors to reorganize their items (throw some things and add) without spending extra AP.

The percentage when the Display turns red should be around 80%, so survivors could be notified on time. And the best thing of this idea, is that it doesn't make spam.

Keep Votes

  1. Author Keep--  Savant  Chit-Chat  12:51, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - Harmless, and will remind people when they are nearly stocked up if they want to pick up things like radios and toolboxes again. --MarieThe Grove on Tour 13:07, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Not really all that needed, it's called paying attention, but...eh...No harm I suppose.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 13:27, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - Why not. Brainz 13:32, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - It's harmless,so why not?Chill 14:42, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - i don't mind --~~~~T''' 14:45, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep - I don't really care one way or the other. I guess some people are kind of inattentive, and this might save them a couple AP of wasted searching. --Steakfish 21:07, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep --Secruss 21:20, 18 August 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill/Change - Make it optional (or have the percentage at which it turns red be configurable). I don't like having lots of red stuff on the screen, and I normally function with more than 90% encumbrance, so this would be very annoying. --Saluton 16:10, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - As Saluton The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talkcontribs) at 16:28 18 August 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Essentially, all this does is turn your encumbrance red at a certain point. I'd rather Kevan be working to implement things that make the game more interesting. All you need to do is scroll down a little bit to check the number while searching for stuff and think a little about whether you need that eighth pistol or not. It's not that hard. --Howard Bentley 21:55, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill The ap turns red? huh....anyway, as above.--Wooty 01:18, 19 August 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - I was going to vote yes, if it was only over 100 encumbrance. I then realised that you are notified when you go over 100, so in the end there is not point to this suggestion. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:55, 19 August 2007 (BST)
Well, I'm going to revise it so it's should be configurable--  Savant  Chit-Chat  09:38, 19 August 2007 (BST)
  6. I'm of the mind that players should pay attention to what they are doing. This seems like the "lazy man's attention".--Pesatyel 06:17, 19 August 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill- Im agreeing with Pesatyel you can just look at your Encumberance%. Pointless 100% Sockem 23:10, 19 August 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - If you aren't paying attention already colors won't help you.--Karekmaps?! 23:46, 24 August 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Dupe - A very simple user script could do this job better, faster, and more flexibly. (And yes, I know I gave no link. This is essentially a comment vote, unless somebody else provides a link.) SIM Core Map.png Swiers 16:42, 18 August 2007 (BST)
Sorry, but what is with players that don't want to use any kind of addons? We are talking here about a suggestion about UD. I don't think UD addons do belong here. It is just like if someone comes with a suggestion that the tiles in UD should replaced with newer ones that he made, but everyone will vote dupe beacuse it is in one of UD addons/user-scripts.--  Savant  Chit-Chat  18:15, 18 August 2007 (BST)
Whatever. I'm just trying to be helpful by pointing out that if this doesn't get implemented (which, lets face it, regardless of peer review or not is the most likely actual outcome) you can still get what you want via a different method. Seeing as I provided no link, my vote has no effect on whether your suggestion gets accepted or not- read the rules if you doubt me. SIM Core Map.png Swiers 18:37, 18 August 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - Can't you count??? --WanYao 23:44, 1 September 2007 (BST)
