20071103 zFever

Peter Piker 21:45, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion type
Improvement

Suggestion scope
All.

Suggestion description

zFever is a mutation of the standard infection. zFever can be contracted from picking up objects -- any object: bodies, FAKs, pipes, etc. Possibility of contracting zFever is 3% for every object you touch. Once contracted, you receive a message "You feel a chill throughout your body. But, now you feel feverish". Standard loss of 1HP per AP/action applies. zFever cannot be cured by a FAK. This will require creation of a new skill: chemotherapy. Chemotherapy requires the Surgery skill; and use of Chemotherapy will require 5AP; and earn 5XP. Chemotherapy can only be effective in a powered Hospital. Chemotherapy also requires an Immunology kit. If attempted without power, you receive the message"The Immunology kit is inoperable". Immunology kits can be found in hospitals at the same percentages as FAKs; and in warehouses at 1/2 the normal chance as in a hospital. This suggestion has historical precedent as a method for helping the thin the ranks of ones opponent.

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Reasoning: Everything said below. I'm putting this as the sole "Kill" vote because if this were spam, you probably wouldn't have taken the time to write it all. Also, if this game were "real life", then most people would have the common sense to take a shotgun, stick it in a zombies mouth, and destroy the head. Or they would cut a zombie's head off. Or they would set them on fire and incinerate them. And if I were Pk'ed, I would stay dead, considering the number of times I had been headshotted. And if a GK'er/PK'er/RK'er were smart, he'd explode the generator in a building, effectively griefing (and killing) everyone inside the building. There are several examples of why the argument "in real life" does not fit at all into this game. --Private Mark 04:57, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam- First of all, don't create multi-step skills, which just complicates things. Also, use the {{SugHead}} in order to have the correct template. Finally, I am sorry to say that this suggestion is just stupid. People get infected by being bitten by zombies, not by touching random stuff. It's common knowledge. --Darth LumisT! A! E! FU! Spam reply First of all, this is not a multi-step skill; it just has Surgery as a prerequisite. Second, your knowlege of history is stupid. Soldiers gave blankets from smallpox victims to American Indians in order to infect the Indians with smallpox. It's common knowlege. Piker Pete
Common knowledge my ass  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  23:26, 3 November 2007 (UTC) Non-author Re struck. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 23:34, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
This ain't history, it's a zombie apocalypse. In zombie apocalypses, people get infected when bitten by zombies. It's very common knowledge. --Darth LumisT! A! E! FU! U 01:57, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
AND, it IS a multi-step skill because you have a new disease AND a new skill. All in one suggestion. --Darth LumisT! A! E! FU! U 01:58, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
  2. Spam - Massively one-sided. Also, do you realise what chemotherapy actually is? --Pavluk A! E! 22:13, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
  3. Spam/Dupe - Dupe is for infection that can only be healed by surgery (maybe someone will find the link) - this is the same in other words. Spam for same reasons as there --~~~~ [talk] 23:11, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
  4. Spam - Auto-attack (and Malton-wide AOE) against survivors. The environment shouldn't harm survivors, zombies should. (Garland might be referring to Scalable Diseases. If you're thinking of playing around with Infection, take a look at what's already in Peer Reviewed under the Infectious Bite tree.)--Funt Solo-QT-Scotland flag.JPG 23:12, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
RENo, this is not an auto-attack. The player does not have to pick up items to be active in the game. Just like real life, every action has risk. Some risks are higher than others. The player can choose the risk of picking up the body/FAK/shotgun shell or let another player perform those actions. The game may be more difficult not constantly scrounging for items; but not impossible.Piker Pete
    This ain't real life. It's a zombie apocalypse. --Darth LumisT! A! E! FU! U 02:46, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Piker Pete, get a clue! When your suggestion is roundly spammed within minutes of being posted, it doesn't mean that you're right and all the voters are wrong. It is an auto-attack, it is overpowered and it makes it absolutely clear that you don't have a clue about how the gameplay works in practise. If implemented, your suggestion has every chance of killing all the survivors and ending the game. Person picks up FAK, get's infected, person who treats them picks up their mega-FAK (or whatever you called it) and gets infected. Everyone dies. End of game. No zombies required. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 10:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
  5. Yippersnappers! Choose one of the above.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 23:18, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
  6. Spam - This is ridiculously overpowered. Besides, if zombie germs are on every few items, wouldn't we all be dead without touching them? --Hhal 23:20, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
  7. Spam - You have no excuse here. You were told on the talk page this was a stupid idea... if this is the same person.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  23:21, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Sorry for the attempt at premature spamination. Didn't know about the time requirement.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  23:30, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
RE And you obviously did not read both entries in their entirety and compare the details. I read all the Suggestions and guidelines and reworked the idea to fit all the requirements. I only retained the same name. Apology not accepted. Piker Pete
I only said I was sorry because it broke the rules. Will, with joy in my soul, add the spam template at 401 GMT.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  01:33, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
