Beer and Wine name change

Timestamp: Canuhearmenow Hunt! 18:39, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Type: Item Change.
Scope: Better RP and Flavor purposes.
Description: As I searched a Hardware store I found a "Pocket Knife" which is a area specific name for a knife. This gave me the idea for this suggestion, which is, upon finding a bottle of wine, or beer, that it gives itself a unique name, for example, for wine it could be "You searched the liqueor store, you found a vintage 1972 bottle of wine." Think about it, people could start contests to see who can find the oldest bottle! ("I found a 1930" "Well, I found an 1899!") and for beer? Well, you can have Bourbon, Scotch, Vodka, and others ("I'd like to have a Malt please") This would be an excellent addition if the "Give Me pal a drink" suggestion got implemented (Canuhearmenow gave you a Scotch, you gained 1 HP).

  2. Keep - It does not vlutter the inventory, it's still called wine and beer, haven't you guys actually read the first point? I don't see people carrying Pocket Knives and Large Scapels aroun,d they carry Knvies, same can be for Beer and Wine. The flavour is good Kaylee Hans 20:14, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  3. Keep If he is thinking along the same lines as the way the knifes have different names then this should be fine. A knife only has a n area specific name when you find it, so it says "you find a pocket knife", once it goes into your inventory it however just becomes a knife. If the same system were implemented with wine and beer they would only have special names upon finding them and not when in the inventory. So this would not cause clutter, and I am all for flavour. -- Whitehouse 21:02, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  4. Keep - I likie it. --Poopman9 00:43, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill You, sir, have offended my sensibilities by insinuating that my fine Kentucky bourbon is 'beer'. Flavour isn't bad, but what you've listed as beer is not beer. Searching and finding liquor with this flavour text is all fine and dandy, but I don't want my interface cluttered with a million different kinds of alcohol.--Burgan 19:06, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. Kill - Flavour is good, but this is kinda getting silly. Who cares whats what?--Mr yawn Scotland flag.JPG 19:14, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  3. Awe, I'm really sorry to Kill - I like the idea - but wouldn't it clutter up the inventory with the different types? --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 19:42, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  4. Kill - What is this, Nexus War? --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 19:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)~
  5. Kill I doubt many people would waste their AP on this. Or want to. This is zombies vs. survivors, not top shelf showdown. --Jon Pyre 20:37, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  6. Kill - needless detail = needless work for Kevan in place of better stuff--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 21:32, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  7. Kill All it could achieve is to clutter inventory. That's beer and wine do now anyway. Axe27 22:31,19 December 2006 (UTC)
  8. Kill - Because Bourbon, Scotch, and Vodka are not beers.--J Muller 23:43, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  9. Rather pointless. I mean if one could see your inventory or something, maybe. If you want, you could just imagine you found vodka instead of wine. Only YOU would know whether you did or not....--Pesatyel 00:08, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  10. Kill - Because the long, complex names of every drink you have would clutter the inventory. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 04:30, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  11. Kill - I'ma sowwy. I'm not allowed ta dwink, but I tink it'd cwutter da invetowy. - - Scalene's Lollipop.jpg Lil' Scalene Ridley 05:09, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  12. KILL THE RABBID!!! KILL THE RABBID!!! Ummm.... No. Mattiator 05:58, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  13. Kill - I like, but I need a clarification: is this just for search flavor, or will each type of beer/wine really be its own item and "clutter [the] inventory" as Axe27 said? I just want a definitive answer from you on this. --Wikidead 06:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Default description

Timestamp: Foede 19:47, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Type: Flavour text.
Scope: Characters description.
Description: Every character gets a default desription depending on their class and some random text. This would only replace the "A non-descript survivor." text. Of course that players can then chgange their description to whatever they want.

Examples:

A zombie: A common zombie pululating the streets. It appears it have been dead for a while. (this guy is a corpse class)

A zombie2: Another zombie roaming the streets. It's wearing a blood stained lab coat. (this one is scientist)

A zombie3: This zombie has its mouth open and its drooling. It's wearing a very dirty uniform (this one is a military)

A zombie4: You see a very skinny zombie. It's wearing ripped civilian clothes. (a dead civilian)

A civilian: This is one of the many civilians trapped in the quarantine.

A military: You see a tired soldier trying to rest.

A scientist: A scientist checking some samples he collected.

  1. Keep - Dude, there's some Zombie descriptions already. Read the first 4 lines! Kaylee Hans 20:16, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. Keep - Makes sense to me, although some people might want to keep non-decript. There should be an option to allow or not allow this.--Mr yawn Scotland flag.JPG 20:35, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  3. Keep - Great idea. I always thought the nondescript thing was kind of boring.--'STER-Talk-ModP! 21:31, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

  7. Why not? I mean if the player is too lazy to come up with something on their own at least this is less boring then the "non-descript" description.--Pesatyel 00:10, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

  9. Keep - sounds good. Or maybe "This player is too lazy to describe their character. This is probably a zerg. Kill it. Kill it now!" lol --Nosimplehiway 03:54, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

  14. Keep - I like it. Makes Malton a little more... flavoursome. Like neopolitan did for vanilla. --Cutlet 07:51, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  15. Keep - The concept is good, although maybe some of the descriptions can be improved (but that's minor detailing) -- boxy T L PA DA 12:25, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
  16. Keep - Ok, It's not like a person can't change it to "a non-descript so-and-so" if they want.

Kill - I'm not sure - what's the default text for a zombie? Is there any? If there isn't, there should be some for them as well, but that's it. Beyond that, it's up to the user to type something in. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 20:04, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Re - The zombie default text is different wether it's a corpse, or a dead civilian/scientist/military. And like I said, the player can change his description anytime. - Foede 20:20, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Re - I meant, isn't there already different text for a zombie? Like a non-descript zombie. I don't know. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 20:29, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Re - This would change the "A non-descript zombie." text we have now as default into one of the 4 different descriptions I wrote. The whole idea of this is to change the "A non-descript survivor/zombie." text. - Foede 21:14, 19 December 2006 (UTC) One reply per person per vote. -Mark 05:20, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Add Map Link

Timestamp: 1812lsd 20:36, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Type: Direct Link to map.
Scope: Main page change.
Description: Can I suggest that a direct link to the map of the city you are in be placed on the main city page, so it makes it easier to get to rather than having to go through the wiki page all the time.

Keep Votes

  1. Why not? Direct game to map access would be nice and it'd just take a snippet of html. Um, and I did you the favor of changing the suggestion name from the same as the one above to something that makes sense (if you object please change it back, just trying to be a good wikizen).--Jon Pyre 20:55, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. Keep --Mr yawn Scotland flag.JPG 21:26, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  3. Keep - Sure but if you want it now, just run the Firefox UD plugin - search the wiki--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 21:36, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  4. Keep - on the basis that there be an official UD map. Of course, it would be better if it was linked to a City Map item, like wot this City Map suggestion in Peer Reviewed does (although it's different because it's only for a single 'burb at a time. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 22:23, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  5. Keep - Indeed, Andrew, why not?--'STER-Talk-ModP! 23:55, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  6. It REALLY isn't that difficult to go to the wiki and open the map in another window. That having been said, would this open up to the suburb you are in, or just the map in general?--Pesatyel 00:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  7. Dux Ducius makes a good point --Poopman9 00:46, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  8. Keep - Excellent idea. I was just thinking the other day how much bandwidth must get used by people going to the wiki splash page first instead of straight to the maps. Also, the wiki is sort of semi-official. The UD pages already directly link here. --Nosimplehiway 03:58, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  9. Keep - The less we feel the need to use extensions, the better is the already laid structure of the game. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 04:48, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  10. Keep I'ma tinking it'sa good idea. It'sa simple, too... - - Scalene's Lollipop.jpg Lil' Scalene Ridley 05:14, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  11. Keep It can't hurt. Mattiator 05:25, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  12. Keep - Although Andrew McM makes a valid point, if you go through the official Urban Dead FAQ, it already links to the map, so why not a direct link? Plus, even though this map is third-party, it feels as if it was actually official. --Wikidead 06:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

  1. Kill - The map is not an 'official' part of urban dead. If we were to add a link to the map, why not to all other third-party parts of the game, such as forums and extensions? -- Andrew McM W! 22:13, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. Lazy - Are we really that lazy to not just go wiki and click on map? just pop it open in a new window, we don't need a direct link --Shadow213 00:17, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
  3. Kill - The map ain't t'official map. Y'ent supposed to b'able ta know what's all happenin from te start.--Burgan 14:38, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
  4. kill, request mods -- there are firefox extensions that allow this, but require that the user have a GPS already. Asheets 17:09, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
