Item that attracts Zombies V.2
Timestamp: | Chris' 'Redfield 18:54, 6 April 2007 (BST) |
Type: | Improvement [from old version] |
Scope: | All |
Description: | YOU MUST READ THIS CAREFULLY TO UNDERSTAND IT, GIVE ME YOUR TIME PLEASE. BECAUSE YOU MIGHT BE ANGRY A PKER CAN USE IT, BUT THERE ARE MANY OTHER WAYS TO USE IT ALSO!!!
As I bet you have all seen, a zombie attracting unit. You've seen a zombie master, a zombie queen, and even a few audible noises from players. This effects both humans and zombies. The Item is called "Fumes". obviously, you can't keep fumes isolated in air. so you find them in a bottle. The human aspect: humans may find these "fumes" in NT buildings (.5%) (20% encumbrance). A Human would carry the "Fume" and no zombies would be attracted to it because it has not been opened yet. it can be set up inside a building, but unlike the generator, it can be set up outside also. It disappears from your inventory after 1 use. The fumes would show up in BOLD RED LETTERS SHOWING THE BUILDING WITH IT IN. like this, 2 BLOCKS NORTH AND 1 BLOCK WEST on a zombie's screen. but, it only effects zombies 3 blocks away [in every direction] from that building, And much like a generator it can be destroyed, if not, then after a day it disperses. It would give someone XP for setting it up, or destroying it. This would only effect zombies with the "scent death" skill, BECAUSE ZOMBIES MUST SCENT DEATH TO SMELL THE FUMES. [humans cannot see the fumes unless they are in the exact same place as the fume is.] The zombie aspect: Zombies in general; can't see this and are not effected by it. Only the ones with the "scent death" skill. EX: IF A ZOMBIE SCENTS DEATH IT WILL APPEAR ON ITS SCREEN; YOU SMELL AN ODD SCENT 3 BLOCKS NORTH. unlike most other zombie attractors, this can also be used by a zombie. As some of you have noticed, when you are a zed, you can still use a crowbar to attack with. so that means you can still set up the "fumes" and that would cause the fumes to: expell from your body, giving you XP, and making the area stink with it. this is just flavor text of setting it up. Also, zombies could be able to attack these fumes, but not in the way a person can, not like a generator. Zombies would get a (.5%) chance of "sucking up" these fumes thus, stealing the fumes from the area, to be used again. Any zombie that "sucks up" the fumes or are even in the vincinity of the fumes become infected, so when revived, they will remain infected until they are given a first aid kit. Why this is important: This is appealing to the Pkers among us, because of the effect it could have on strategic buildings and the possiblility of many zombies coming to the area to kill these people. Unfortunatly for them, people can attack the fumes and disperse them like a generator, and A lot of the zeds don't have scent death, so they couldn't see it, even if they were in the general area. This also appeals to the people who revive zombies, or brain rotters to advertise a revive point. Even more for Pkers, is that random human have a (7%) chance of becoming infected from the fumes. Zombie hunters would use it to attract zombies to a certain area and launch a large scale revive and attack assualt on them. And to the zombies it can be used to see where people are, to feed on them. This overall could be very effective and fun for everyone to use, although rare to find and very encumbring, but is evenly distributed betwwen groups as not to be overpowered or the such. PEOPLE CAN ALSO OBTAIN REVENGE ON PKERS BY OPENING THE FUME JAR IN A BUILDING WHERE THE PKERS ARE SLEEPING, THUS ATTRACTING ZOMBIES TO THE AREA TO FEAST ON THOSE BASTARDS REMAINS. this, to your general survivor is of no use, because they wander around aimlessly and decide not to plan attacks or revive. but to those in any type of group, read the above and you will see that you can use it for your group. |

Kill Votes
- kill seems to be a localised zombie flare with special effects. If it acted as a scent blocker to ruin scent trail etc then yes i would vote keep but this seems to have no purpose but to cause grief and i doubt it would do that very well except for the infection part. Basically this is an area affect toxic attack to screw malls! --Honestmistake 19:30, 6 April 2007 (BST)
- kill - As zombies generally only follow feeding groans and not even flares, this is rather pointless.--Bluish wolf 21:49, 6 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I didn't like it the first time, and I don't like it this time either. The bolded words and different colors were good though, because they helped keep my attention (I'm not being sarcastic, it really did help). --

- Kill Please DO NOT resubmit this suggestion; I made a suggestion called "Scent Disrupter" an month ago that was shot down, and it had a better chance of being accepted than this one.--Nucleon 22:37, 7 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I don't think this will get through... Definately needs work... It's not spam though Mattiator 21:50, 8 April 2007 (BST)
- Kill with prejudice - No offense, but I'm really tempted to vote spam simply due to sheer amounts of capital letters. The only differences I can see are that you added a lot of capitalization, a way for the zombies to actually tell which direction the fumes are in (fixing my second concern, to your credit), and a line about the fumes being found in bottles (although it still begs the question of why you're carrying around, setting up, and destroying an item called "fumes" rather than say, a "fume container"). But you still haven't addressed the most important concerns, specifically <begin copied and re-numbered list of problems> 1) One of the only 2 plausible reasons one would use this is to lead zombies on a wild goose chase. How would you like being on the wrong side of that? Barricade strafing is bad enough in this respect. 2) The other only plausible use for this is griefing survivors, which should not be encouraged. Heck, pound-for-pound griefers are already too effective. 3) The idea of leading zombies into a trap is ridiculous. Killing them when they're outside is counterproductive unless you're gathering XP (takes a lot more AP for even a maxed-out survivor to kill a newbie zombie than it does for said zombie to stand up). And combat revives only cause the zombie to jump off the nearest building or become PKers (in either case, it's a waste of a syringe). 4) Because of the uselessness of this, it is nothing more than screen spam and inventory spam for those looking for syringes. <end copied and re-numbered list of problems>. And to add to that, how could a zombie "suck up" the fumes and use them again for the same effect? Clearly, some of the fumes would be used up, and it wouldn't make sense to keep recycling the fumes over and over again without any loss (the only way there could be no loss of the fumes would be if absolutely none of it was dissipated or absorbed by anyone prior to being sucked up, which would require it to be permanent and harmless). And there's one thing you don't seem to get. The fact that Bounty Hunters could use this too doesn't balance out the fact that PKers can. PKers are not supposed to be a major part of the game. Heck, they're not even supposed to be a concern. Just give it up. This suggestion is terrible and you know it. --Reaper with no name TJ! 20:29, 9 April 2007 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam somethings really can't be improved. This suggestion basics are just not sound. It's tough but thats what it is. Move on to something completely different. or you could still submit it to humourous with the fumes changed to what funt suggested last time --Vista 20:20, 6 April 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Thank you for pointing out this time, in nice big capital letters, that this suggestion is targeted at griefers and PKers.--Labine50 MH|ME|TNT'07 20:58, 6 April 2007 (BST)
- Spam - SHOUTING DOESN'T MAKE A CRAP SUGGESTION GOOD. --Funt Solo
01:50, 7 April 2007 (BST)
- Spam - I didn't like it the first time, and I certainly don't like it the second time. Some people just don't get that their suggestion is really not that good. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:07, 7 April 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Still sucks. --The Hierophant. 03:56, 07 April 2007.
- Dupe I see no difference between the two. Unless you COUNT THE SHOUTING IN THIS ONE.--Pesatyel 05:00, 7 April 2007 (BST)
- Spam - If you have to yell to get your point across, it's probably not a very good point. And. of course, as above. --Saluton 15:51, 7 April 2007 (BST)
