Finally!

Finally the scent map is complete. We have at least one image from each scanning location. Now it is just a matter of seeing if the UD community will help us keep it up to date. I would like to thank CptFastbreak, Sigmund Amenhauser, and solodog for their invaluable assistance in collecting the baseline images.--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  20:57, 15 May 2011 (BST)

Looks great! FYI the full city map doesn't display correctly on lower screen resolutions. 85 px seems to fit a bit better. Basically, with the border, it takes more that 800px and forces the last image per row to go down to the next line. ~Vsig.png 21:36, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. Good to know. I will adjust it down to 85 as soon as I get a chance. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  21:39, 15 May 2011 (BST)
NP. I have no idea why my wife has her screen resolution set so low but sometimes it proves useful :P ~Vsig.png 21:40, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Done. Thank you find and replace function, where would I be without you?--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  21:42, 15 May 2011 (BST)
Weird. At 250px exactly, the image does was not displaying correctly for Markess Bank, as it is was displaying the previously uploaded image at that size. At 249px and 251px, it displays the correct image. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 21:45, 15 May 2011 (BST)
I just uploaded that one earlier today so you would have had to refresh if you had viewed it before. The same will hold true for all images; I noticed this with NT scans as well. So if you upload one, refresh the page to see it.--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  21:49, 15 May 2011 (BST)
Ah, so that was the one that was missing from Z.A.L.P./Scent Maps, I take it? --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 21:50, 15 May 2011 (BST)
Yes, that was the final piece.--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  21:52, 15 May 2011 (BST)

Point of clarification

In response to some PMs, ostensibly this resource was designed to aid survivors but in essence it is a tool used to track zombies. Whether you are tracking them to avoid them, tracking them to join them, informing others of danger, or advertising your horde’s strength is your own business. Accordingly, yes, died in the wool (pun intended) zombie nature types may feel free to update and use it. It is a community tool (even though it is located on a group sub-page)and serves the same purpose either way, so have at as long as you keep contributions accurate and in good faith.--Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  22:06, 15 May 2011 (BST)

Scouting RPs

Note to those of you using this map to scout clogged RPs, most of the shining bright green spots that are surrounded by black are clogged RPs. Use the referance maps to verify if you wish but a look at the overview map at bottom should give you a pretty good idea of where revives are needed. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  21:00, 26 May 2011 (BST)

SIM

Scenteral Intelligence Map - You might find it of interest. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 03:25, 3 June 2011 (BST)

Thank you, I have seen several different maps since we started this one, though I had seen none beforehand. I am planning on including a section that links to alternate scent maps on this page. I will include this one in the list. They all seem to work a little bit differently. I think that the strength of this one is its organized coverage plan which makes it easier for fewer people to scan the entire map. The stregth of the one you linked is the freeform mapping. --Albert Schwan Albert Schwan  22:53, 3 June 2011 (BST)
The irony is the SIM used to work exactly like this, a dozen images on the wiki needing constant update. Eventually it became quite tedious to maintain all those images, as well as blank them when they became outdated. Hence the website to automate it all. If you're using Firefox, you might consider the Greasemonkey script which will cross post your scans to the SIM automatically with no effort on your part. You can still use your organized coverage method to ensure you get good coverage for minimal work. -- User:The Rooster RoosterDragon User talk:The Rooster 07:32, 4 June 2011 (BST)
