How exactly does it work?

Could anyone iwitness this please? And what do i have to click to activate Scent Trail or is it automatic? --Zombargh 18:27, 2 April 2008 (BST)

Scent Trail is purely automatic. It adds some text after every interaction that gives the scent information in the form of blocks from your current position. It also informs you when the Scent is Lost. I'll try to get an image of it uploaded next time I have something but actually getting anything other than Scent Lost is in and of itself rare. I'll also add more to the article soonish.--Karekmaps?! 18:50, 2 April 2008 (BST)

Not too sure if I understand what's written here or not, but do I have to worry about being tracked down if I was in a building, killed the zombie, and then dumped the body outside and moved to another building after barricading the building? --Aristophrenia

No, whenever a zombie gets killed they lose all trails.--Karekmaps?! 22:20, 16 April 2008 (BST)

Guys I have a quick question about scent death... never really cared if they knew before but now I do... Do zombies get back the scent if you come back to an area within ten blocks after leaving that area? --Marty Banks (aka. Mundane) <DHPD> 23:31, 1 August 2008 (BST)

Question: If you miss a zombie (and therfore don't do it any damage) can they still track you? user:Tobeon 14:27, 4 December 2008 (GMT)

No, they don't see misses.--Karekmaps?! 10:46, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Killing a zombie disrupts the scent, but does dumping his/her body out the window then reactivate the scent?--Dhavid Grohl 05:27, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Technically they are still dead, so I would say no. --Zt107 00:32, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

?rise and Scent Trail bug

I found this in a sandbox entry. Looks like it was picked up from a radio broadcast, or maybe copied from an old Malton Herald & Sun article.

PSA: Scent Trail (7)

------------------------------------------------------------
A tip for zombies: If you log in by typing in the URL:
http://www.urbandead.com/contacts.cgi?username=X&password=X
where the Xs are replaced with your login info, then use
http://www.urbandead.com/map.cgi?rise
to view the map, you'll be standing when the game tells you
what happened since your last login. Which means you can
pick up scent trails, even if you were killed.

If true, then it is definitely a bug. Can someone verify if this is still working? Can someone try to duplicate it? I don't play as a zombie so I have no idea if it works. I don't want to file this a a bug unless I know more about it. -- Kittithaj 12:55, 9 September 2011 (BST)

EDIT: Look like it is confirmed in this page, added by none other than TripleU himself.

TripleU said:
This is big. How did it take me this long to hear about it? Since it can only help zombies, I aught to make this as widely known as possible. Survivors will never be safe in depopulated zones again!

That makes the question why the bug has not been fixed even more glaring. -- Kittithaj 13:08, 9 September 2011 (BST)

Technically it's unilateral, but since the key use is to gain the use of Scent Trail, it's only practical one way. Ah well. Given the update speed, it'll be fixed right around never; however it's not exactly game breaking by any stretch so I wouldn't worry about it. Nothing to be done! 14:07, 9 September 2011 (BST)

Just FYI: This still works. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:27, 9 July 2012 (BST)

It's been known since 2005. All smart survivors know to move over 10 blocks away, which will always break scent trail. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 06:38, 28 July 2012 (BST)
