Description

The Gatehouse Building is a dark and imposing federal building located in the suburb of Dulston alongside the very eastern edge of Malton's quarantine zone. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) established their Malton East Division back in 1962 with the completion of the Gatehouse Building. By all appearances the FBI agents of the East Division were involved in investigations not unlike those associated with agency branches throughout the country, but upon closer inspection conspiracy theorists speculated connections between the agency and NecroTech. Anonymous leaked reports indicate an irregular number of low-profile meetings between high ranking bureau staff from the East Division and NecroTech executives. Further investigation into these connections were halted by the "Malton Incident".

With the building evacuated survivors who make their way past the concrete vehicle barricades outside the entrance find an empty lobby bereft of life and scattered with discarded papers. These mismatched documents provide a fragmented account of events leading up to the "Malton Incident" with various reports of viral infections throughout the city and the impending military evacuation of Malton. Further information appears impossible to recover as attested to by the many empty filing cabinets and piles of shredded paper found throughout each building floor.

More industrious survivors who have searched the building thoroughly have uncovered an anomaly in the building's design. The elevators indicate only two sub-basements, but a keycard reader below them allows access to a third sub-basement. Recovered building blueprints hint at a heavily reinforced area below the second sub-basement level, but nothing about what it might contain. Of those survivors who have viewed these floor plans most surmise the third sub-basement could possibly be a concealed bunker. The only other oddity in the plans appears to be a large tunnel shown branching off southwards from the building into Pescodside. Those that have searched for possible exits for the hidden tunnel whisper of locating a secured, reinforced bunker-style door in a building located on Gatehouse Road. Coincidence? They would certainly have you believe otherwise.

Noted NecroTech scientist, Caleb Usher, has his own theories on the "secret bunker". Of course he does not commonly share these theories with others unless one was to pester him until he relented. Fortunately for survivors everywhere the interviewer following Caleb was able to do just that and eventually he buckled under what he referred to as "incessantly tortuous nagging". After settling down Caleb disclosed his own personal theory in which he postulated that the lowest floor of the Gatehouse Building might hold a previously undisclosed NecroTech facility. A facility that, should it ever be unlocked, could potentially provide answers that could end the zombie epidemic.

Barricade Policy

Barricades should be kept at Extremely Heavily at all times. The true purpose of this building is to serve as a heavily fortified shelter for Malton's veteran survivors. This ruling was set forth by the Dulston Optimal Defense Diagram and is enforced by all member groups of the Dulston Alliance.

Current Events

July 18th, 2008 - The Dulston Marine Corps officially declared the Gatehouse Building as their headquarters.
