Description
The Cowing Way PD is a lovely little building located southeast of Fort Creedy and populated by a number of survivors which usually hovers around 40. A favourite location for Rowcliffe guards and reclamation forces (to the credit of the survivors of Pegton, the Rowcliffe doesn't go down often), the Cowing Way PD is a site not to be missed when visiting Pegton.
Behind its distinctive Art Deco turret-cum-entrance lies a rich modern history, and Cowing Way was the home of one of the best police forces in Malton, let alone Pegton.
History
A glance at the map of Pegton reveals an anomaly: there were three police stations in the relatively affluent southwest of the suburb, yet there was only one (underfunded and undermanned) station in the centre, which had to serve the entire downtrodden and crime-ridden northeast of the area. This discrepancy was just one of many grievances among the nor'easterners, who felt they were unfairly treated as 'second-class citizens'.
The 'uncowed Cowing' force nonetheless performed sterling service for its impoverished beat, keeping crime to manageable levels and never suffering the stain of corruption, unlike the notoriously bent cops of Tilly Row.
Donalbain Biddescombe, the council office cleaner who overheard plotters from the Carver Street Conspiracy, therefore chose wisely when he went straight to Cowing Way to report what he had discovered. The hard-bitten Super, Percy Coe, immediately sent squad cars to the homes of the conspirators, and within hours the ringleaders had been rounded up and incarcerated. A brief trial followed and resulted in their prompt execution at a nearby waste ground.
Since the Outbreak, even zombies have flocked to the station, apparently to complain about their repeated shooting, stabbing, torching and axeing at the hands of bloodthirsty survivors. Sadly, it appears the current officers on station are not quite as even-handed as their predecessors, as they show little willingness to address criminal complaints by the undead population.
Barricading Policy
According to Pegton Barricade Plan, this building must never be more than Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded. This building's purpose is to serve as an access point for all survivors and a safehouse for inexperienced survivors who do not possess the Free Running skill. Visitors are requested to never barricade beyond Very Strongly unless the building is currently under siege from 5 or more zombies. Any survivors can and should lower the barricades back to Very Strongly if they discover them raised higher without just cause.
Current Status
For Future Help, recording a date to the building status is recommended.
