In that last example, the DM tells it that this is a demotions page, and the 2005 is the year that it will use when categorizing the page. For instance, note that "2005 Demotion Archives" is a category at the bottom of this page. Possible values that can be used in addition to DM are BP, M, PM, and RE. Additionally, you can add one more value of your choice after the year. For instance, if you want to indicate that a demotion was withdrawn, you might use "DM|2005|Withdrawn", which would result in the categories "2005 Demotion Archives" and "Withdrawn Demotion Archives" being added to the page. Please look through existing archives to see what categories are in common use so that you don't create unnecessary categories. | In that last example, the DM tells it that this is a demotions page, and the 2005 is the year that it will use when categorizing the page. Also, does the Breadcrumbs template need to include the full Admin nav? Why not just have the Admin nav on the [[A/SA]] page, with just the SA nav on all the subpages? {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 22:06, 20 September 2013 (BST)
:It's only shifted left on A/SA itself, and that's because of the shortcut box in the top right, which pushes it left. Prior to this, the admin nav was off-center, but now it's been pushed down, so it isn't. And I'm going to modify it in a bit to only appear on "Other Sysop Archive" pages, rather than on all of them, that way it's only showing up on the pages that are actually being used to navigate this system. If that's still too much clutter (I'd like to give it a few days to see how it feels), then I'll just put it on A/SA and nowhere else. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 22:12, 20 September 2013 (BST)
::Misread what you said about the navigation. I think I added the admin nav to everything because it was standard on a lot of the archive pages prior to this, and seemed to make sense to keep at the time. Maybe do SA nav on everything and admin nav on "Other" pages? I'll try that out in a sec. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 22:14, 20 September 2013 (BST)
:::I think that's good. The "Other" pages aren't long, so having the extra template doesn't look cluttered. It is good to have it off the longer archive pages, tho. {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 22:19, 20 September 2013 (BST)
::::For now, I've set it to only appear on the main A/SA page, but see if you think they should appear on the individual sysop pages too. I'm thinking the breadcrumbs should be added to the categories as well, that way people can jump between categories more easily (and that we'd probably keep the admin nav for those). Thoughts? {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 22:24, 20 September 2013 (BST)
:::::I like this set up. Should definitely be added to all the categories - I'll do so in a minute. And in current formatting, the admin nav shows up on category pages as long as we simply put <nowiki>{{Sysop Archives Breadcrumbs}}</nowiki>. {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 22:28, 20 September 2013 (BST)
::::::Added to categories. {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 22:43, 20 September 2013 (BST)
On a somewhat related note, is there going to be a link to A/SA on the main Admin nav? Seems like there should be, but I'm not sure where it would go - at the end, or maybe adjacent to/replacing [[Special:ListUsers/sysop|Sysop List]]. {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 22:19, 20 September 2013 (BST)
:That's a question for [[A/P]], I think, but I've been wondering how it should be done too, since you've gotten it to the point where it should be added as an Archives link or whatnot. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 22:24, 20 September 2013 (BST)
::<s>Will post on A/P now.</s> Assume you meant A/PT? {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 22:28, 20 September 2013 (BST)
:::Err, yeah. I knew it looked odd when I typed it, but I was like "well, A/PM is promotions, so I think I'm good, since what else is there?" Oh, yeah, policies. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 22:41, 20 September 2013 (BST)
::::Yeah, I guessed as much. ^^ {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 22:43, 20 September 2013 (BST) |
