20081115 Ignore this Voice

Suggestion type
Radio Improvement
Suggestion scope
Anyone who uses the radio.
Suggestion description
(This was orignally posted by Swiers a month or so back on Developing Suggestions. He let it drop off this page (went AWOL) and now isn't keen on posting suggestions. He gave me permission to repost it, but all credit goes to him.
Basically, the suggestion puts a button next to every radio message you receive, saying "Ignore this Voice." If activated, this simply means that the user's radio chatter will no longer show up on your screen. It doesn't cross over if you meet them in person, and does not reveal the person's userID (would have to be encrypted.) The list of people blocked would not be available to the player. It is similar to adding someone to the ignore list, but is for radio instead of speech. There would be an option in the settings to use this list normally (radio blocked,) ignore it (all radio allowed, including those on ignore list,) and delete all users on it. Finally, the list would have a limited length (around 50 voices) and if the list is full, newer voices would knock older ones off the list.

- Keep – Logical extension to current contact list/ignore functionality. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 09:52, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

- Keep - Great idea. --Pestolence(talk) 16:13, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure the kill voters actually understand the suggestion. If Bob is spamming up the radio waves and you can ignore him, as the suggestion says....no more spam from Bob clutting the airwaves.--Pesatyel 00:59, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - Well, I like it. Legion8 03:19, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - Fantastico. Also, I second what Pesatyel just said up there about Kill voters. If you admit radio spam sucks, why vote against this function?--Drugsanimudongs 14:08, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - As Pesatyel. --Private Mark 18:15, 16 November 2008 (UTC) EDIT- On a similar note, this would put a permanent end to REALGAMER and his many, many alts' abuse. If we can't get Kevan to ban him, the least we can do is squelch him.
- Keep - This is a good idea, I am tired of spammers, they just make the game less fun, so this would make it more fun, and it gets a keep from me. --Destor 00:05, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - Best suggestion to reduce radio spam I've seen so far --Explodey 11:54, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - As above. --Toejam 16:47, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Kill Votes
- Kill - We already have an ignore function and while it is unfortunate that it is limited when it comes to radio that doesn't change that radio spam is the single real downside to radio and actually keeps if from being ridiculously useful.--Karekmaps?! 09:29, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- grudgingly kill Karek hits it dead centre that all the Spam is what prevents the radio being useful. Perhaps if the limit was much lower...I seem to remember that 50 is the max size for contact lists, if so have ignored voices take up space on that list as "anonymous radio voice" instead of being a seperate limit --Honestmistake 13:38, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill - As Karek. --Ocular Druuuuu 17:27, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
