I'm responding to DDR's first comment, and everything else is tl;dr. I was initially inclined to agree that it was against The Dead. But they didn't seem to be barricade bots, or anything like that- just flesh bags. Their main impact, as far as I could tell, was to affect the stats. And the theme of "UD is broken" and the profile description "fix your damn game" point to a motive rooted in an opinion that something about the game itself was broken. I think that if there's any evidence at all as to the motives of the creator of these zergs, it indicates that they're upset about game mechanics: not about SA goons. And maybe there is reason to be upset; I can see why some people argue it's a bad way to handle search rates. I personally don't feel that way, but there's an argument to be made. Anyhow, I think you'd agree that, whatever the motive, this sort of behavior is a little too... what's the word I'm looking for here? "Butt-hurt?"--[[User:Father Thompson|FT]] 19:08, 24 May 2011 (BST)

Updating note

if you feel sufficiently bored enough, feel free to update the zombie count and whatnot, Try not to be dickbags about it though, thanks.

Interesting....

I saw them at the bottom of the group ranking while checking out the survivor/zed percentages... but the stats only register 40 members.... Arthur Dent BIN LADEN IS DEAD!!!!! 01:41, 20 May 2011 (BST)

Dunno. I left it up to the folks on the zerg list to deal with it. As it was said above they've dealt with this kind of thing before, and so would probably have more credibility than some random "the dead" member. Because we all know how much everyone loves the dead. - Serious Post. Please do not silly. You rated this wiki '1'! There is a lot of them in Penny Heights. I saw some on Coome Lane, Digby Walk, Tuxill Alley Fire Station, and Rossiter Crescent. It's pretty annoying because other Ferals keep groaning at them, so I can't even trust feeding groans right now. Jamis 17:26, 23 May 2011 (BST)

I don't think it has to do with anything for "the dead" as it is more an individual user messaging Kevan about zergs. He tends to ignore individual user report emails on zergers, but since the ZL has worked with Kevan before, he tends to respond when it concerns large-scale zergers. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 21:41, 23 May 2011 (BST)

There's a clipped screenshot of one of them shooting someone. Do we have evidence of whether they are attacking zeds or survivors or both?Doctor Golf 22:29, 23 May 2011 (BST)

Mainly we look for screenshots of them together (or within 9 squares of one another), working in tandem, etc. The idea is to get multiple of them in a screenshot or screenshots of their similar proximity, so we can provide evidence of zerging. If Kevan doesn't do anything, then at the very least we have documentation of them in the Zerg Liste, so people can identify them in-game and "encourage" them to stop. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 22:55, 23 May 2011 (BST)

As of this morning (5-24-2011) it appears as though UZW is no more. I don't see them on the streets, and they're no longer listed on the stats page. Kent Camp 13:57, 24 May 2011 (BST)

You know, it could be...

It could be that this isn't a protest against The Dead, but against the search rate changes at low survivor population levels. Might be an attempt to unboost search rates by spamming in a bunch of throwaway street treats and tilting the stats.

It's much better for actual human players to have high search odds, than a bunch of freshly spawned zergs standing around in the street doing nothing.--FT 03:06, 24 May 2011 (BST)

You'd have to define "better", because my idea of things getting better for the survivors is to combat The Dead without boosted search rates, rather than have shit handed to us on a platter when things go awry. It's an interesting idea though, but I'm betting that it's against the dead. -- ϑanceϑanceevolution 03:19, 24 May 2011 (BST)
If this was against The Dead then one would think it would have occurred when survivors dropped to around 10-15% rather than more than a week later when numbers started to rebound as groups began to coordinate on issuing revives in place of repairs. The Dead WISH this was against them because that would mean it was "pubbie tears", the timing of it is far more indicative of someone who like you is pissed at how the search rates rise when survivor numbers are low. --Lord K 03:27, 24 May 2011 (BST)

Who the fuck has time to look at things like "evidence" when you can leap and take flight and jump to all the conclusions you need? Paranoia and self-importance are my co-pilots on this amazing trip to the land of assumptions, where everything fits to my scenic rose-tinted view on things because I'm Lord K and I'm a colossal fucking idiot who has the weakest grasp on wit this side of a literal infant. That's right. A baby. An actual baby has a better understanding of what constitutes a cutting retort than the whirlwind of corpulent semi-autistic flab that makes up the earthly form of Lord K, internet nobility, ruling his make-believe fiefdom with a cheeto-stained fist. God fucking save me from this miserable realisation where I am suddenly aware that the air I breathe is shared by Lord K, a human being who has never accomplished anything of worth, and will never accomplish anything of worth, trudging through each pathetic hour with the certainty that only through posting on the fucking internet about fucking imaginary zombies will he be assured any kind of lasting impression on reality. That's all he will ever amount to, a fleeting blip in the universe where he managed to make perhaps upwards of a dozen people regret that he was ever born. Kudos, congratulations, mazel tov, and glory be that your fetid existence has made its mark - even if that mark is just a smudge, a filthy smear of excrement on humanity's backside, because you have decided that somehow you have the moral fucking high ground in an argument you started about a fucking shitty zombie game on the internet, where you didn't even check the facts before posting your damp little fart of an opinion. --カシュー, ザ ゾンビ クィーン (ビープ ビープ) ;x You rated this wiki '1'! I'm pleasantly amused by a person who has spent tons of her time making and updating a page which basically amounts to, "Waaahhh, it's too haaaard" suggesting someone else is upset. Thanks for that though, it is highly amusing. Really though, as a bit of advice just from one person to another: stop making this so easy. Prior to this post I've had to spend all of about 1 minute formulating and typing two responses and the most amusing thing is that initially I wasn't even TRYING to start something like this. Mentally it isn't a handicap per say, it simply results in more specialized areas of knowledge. Someone with it can be well above average in one subject and well below average in another. What you're thinking of is probably Kanner syndrome (more often just called autism). When I said it was an advantage in my field I wasn't lying, Asperger's is relatively common amongst those who work in IT, nor is it something I even tend to think of day to day or week to week unless it's mentioned. --Lord K 07:35, 24 May 2011 (BST)
You can't interact properly with other human beings. That is an absence of one of the most defining traits of our species. Therefore, it counts as a mental handicap. Sorry, bucko, but that's a sad fact of life. Also I do kind of feel pity for you right now, but it might just be a fleeting stab of conscience. I'm sure it'll pass. --カシュー, ザ ゾンビ クィーン (ビープ ビープ) ;x You rated this wiki '1'! Great job, go hog wild! @ 07:41, 24 May 2011 (BST)
Your pity is unnecessary, I'm in a much better situation than most people my age and in parts it is due to that diagnosis, even though I otherwise rarely think about it at all. Call it what you like, as I said before your opinion of me doesn't particularly concern me. You're neither personally or professionally important and those who are tend to either like me, not care either way, and/or think I'm some kind of friggin' genius (although I disagree, it is nice). "Butt-hurt?"--FT 19:08, 24 May 2011 (BST)

There may be more

It seems that there may be more names than the ones listed in the article. I'm finding nearly duplicate names registered very closely together, real names that match up, and other interesting tidbits having gone through things some. Kevan may have shut down the names listed on the article already, but I can't really say. Last udbebroken appears to have been registered as UDID 1919311 and we're into the upper 60s now. --Lord K 04:06, 24 May 2011 (BST)

A good chunk of them were created yesterday. I looked about midday (my time) and they were at ~1200 and then ~2700 yesterday evening. ~Vsig.png 17:42, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
It looks like all the "udbebroken" accounts were created on the 23rd. ~Vsig.png 17:45, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
It's also worth mentioning that when I logged in yesterday I saw that all of the udbebroken zergs had appeared overnight and were hanging out in my neighborhood all over the streets, and when the group disappeared from the stats page I logged in again and found the neighborhood empty of zergs. Seems like they got blocked from the game or something. Can anyone confirm this same phenomenon with the zergs in their neighborhood?--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 18:12, 24 May 2011 (BST)
I saw the same thing. The streets were loaded with UDbebrokens yesterday, and today I didn't see any.--FT 18:31, 24 May 2011 (BST)

Then why do they still show up in the profile index? 03:39, 25 May 2011 (BST)
Because that's the hand of Slutthefeared. --Karekmaps 2.0?! 03:56, 25 May 2011 (BST)
The Wutz's still appear in the profile DB but we know they were removed. What Karek said above. Profile db trolls for new ids and simply adds them to the db. Also, it appears that the profile is not removed even though the character is removed from the map. ~Vsig.png 04:17, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
I think what Mazu means is, when clicking on the link of one of the profiles in the DB, you're still directed to said profile. Shouldn't it take you to a 404, or something? ~ Kempy “YaketyYak” | ◆◆◆ | CAPD | 04:33, 25 May 2011 (BST)
I don't think so. The profiles must still exist in some form, if they were deleted a new account could take over the name? Dunno. -- ϑanceϑanceevolution 05:17, 25 May 2011 (BST)
That would be harder to code and particularly less stable. This way they don't have to risk accounts with the same name, or empty profile id fields, etc that can needlessly cause errors. --Karekmaps 2.0?! 21:33, 25 May 2011 (BST)
Frozen accounts are only revealed to be frozen to those who log into them, otherwise they still show up in the profile database cause they still have a profile. -- ϑanceϑanceevolution 05:17, 25 May 2011 (BST)
DDR is correct. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 07:48, 25 May 2011 (BST)
