Roftwood is a suburb of Malton and located in the east of the city center. It contains Hildebrand Mall as well a rich and abundant mix of Resource Buildings. It lies in the middle of the central section of the Survivor Security Zone and is a bustling and thriving suburb when it isn't being hassled by the zombies of Ridleybank.

Visitor's Guide

AquaCompass.jpg

Welcome to Roftwood!

Greetings visitor, Roftwood has much to offer and we hope you enjoy your visit and hope you stay with us!

The bulk of the activity in Roftwood takes place at and around Hildebrand Mall, where you can find vital supplies such as firearms, ammunition, first-aid kits and generators and also hang out with fellow survivors with an ice-cold beer.

If you are injured, you are advised to go to either Eligius General Hospital or St. Ethelbert's Hospital, where you'll receive medical care from the doctors and surgeons there. Scientists will be able to manufacture revivification syringes, access the NecroTech database and find other useful NecroTech equipment inside both the Herbert Building and the Greenhow Building. Due to the large number of buildings in Roftwood, every resource building is accessible via a free-running lane.

Generators are best found at Hildebrand Mall's hardware store but there are also four factories in the Roftwood that can also be searched. Fuel and spray cans are more available at four Auto Repair shops, the main one of which is Maiden Auto Repair, located just one block northwest of the Herbert Building. Flak jackets and ammunition can be found at Rawlins Row Police Dept, adjacent to the southeast corner of the mall.

If you prefer somewhere quieter than the bustle of Hildebrand Mall and its surrounding complex then you should visit western Roftwood. Western Roftwood serves as Roftwood's defense line due to the three police departments located there, which are optimally spaced from each other. Western Roftwood also has The Greenhow Building (an NT facility) and has an easy access to Nichols Mall in the adjacent suburb of Stanbury Village. Note that the area is usually heavily barricaded and can only be accessed by free running and via specific safehouses and entryways such as Blunden Row School and the Whale Building.

Connecting west Roftwood to the Mall complex are the Summer Building, the Wrench Hotel and an abandoned factory. The Summer Building holds Roftwood's mobile phone mast and therefore is always kept heavily barricaded, however the factory serves as an entryway and should always be accessible by survivors. The Wrench Hotel is the only hotel in Roftwood. It is close to the major buildings in the suburb (only two steps away from Hildebrand Mall and Eligius General Hospital) but it is not a Tactical Resource Point, making it a low-priority target for zombies, and a safe and convenient place to spend the night in.

We hope you enjoy your stay!

Small groups of survivors operating in the suburb, but nothing too organized. Break-ins still frequent, but getting rarer. Goron40 2 October 2008 (EST)

September 15th

At least 76 zombies on the streets, but spread out across the suburb in small groups of about 10 at the most. Of the 19 Tactical Resource Points in the 'burb, 5 are ruined, 5 are powered and 9 are not powered (although 'caded). Most of the heavy damage is in the west of the suburb. Here's a breakdown:

  • Mall: all squares powered and 'caded.
  • 2 Hospitals: both ruined.
  • 4 Auto Repairs: 1 powered, 3 not.
  • 4 Factories: 1 powered, 3 not.
  • 2 NecroTech: 1 powered, 1 not.
  • 6 Police Depts: 3 ruined, 1 powered, 2 not.

That does fit the given description for a Moderate danger level, although I could understand if someone marked it as Dangerous, given the ruination in the west of the suburb, and the lack of power to many of the TRPs. --Funt Solo QT Scotland flag.JPG 16:31, 15 September 2008 (BST)

There are still some representatives from the neighboring zombie horde, but Rotwood has been through a lot worse than this. There are still some industrious survivors reclaiming territory and lighting their revive factory. So, it isn't really that bad. Anyhoo, the library is still occupied, and hopefully still edutaining you. - Sir Fred of Etruria 05:28, 6 September 2008 (BST)

The MMS are trying to keep the hospitals open for you, despite the RRF's insatiable appetite for Hot Nurses and Delicious Doctors. They apparently don't mind finding a bandaid or two in their food. --Maisy Queen of the Ziggurats 15:58, 2 September 2008 (BST)

Barricade Plan & Discussion

AquaBarricade.jpg

Due to the large population of Roftwood, the barricade plan has been changed a number of times and is mostly agreed upon. Under the latest agreement there are 33 VSB buildings (entry points) and 21 EHB buildings (safehouses). The plan can be seen in the suburb map at the bottom of this page.

Please try and rectify any breeches in the barricade plan you encounter (raising and lowering barricades appropriately). If you are stuck outside and this is not possible (because of equipment, skills or AP), you can search for another entry point using the suburb map at the bottom of the page and with 33 such designated entry points, the nearest one should be only a few AP away.

Please add comments to the Roftwood Barricade Plan discussion page if you feel there needs to be further refinements to the barricade plan. Thank you. --RAF Lt.G Deathnut RAF

Revive Points

AquaReviv.jpg

Roftwood has two NecroTech facilities:

Roftwood doesn't actually have any cemeteries, however there are three main revive points in Roftwood:

  • Turpin Road (61, 51), which is one block west of the Greenhow Building NT in north west Roftwood
  • Cake Walk (62, 55), two blocks west of the Summer Building in west Roftwood
  • Swansborough Park (68, 53), one block north of the Herbert Building NT in east Roftwood

The Sacred Ground policy is in force for these three revive points, please follow and respect it whether you are either zombie or harman.

Note: A discussion is under way to move the revive points to indoor locations in accordance with the RESCUE policy. More information on this will follow soon.

Radio and Cell Phone

The local radio frequency for communication in Roftwood is 26.17 MHz, this is the frequency for the Survivor Security Zone. Please keep radio transmitters in buildings tuned to this frequency for important news and information about events and happenings in the local area.

The transmitter for the Maltel cell-phone network is located in the Summer Building, and so this building is kept powered and at EHB at all times. Access is via the factory one block west, which is a designated entry point, kept at VSB+2.

Notable Events

The Last Stand at St. Ethelbert's Hospital

  • January 10th 2008 - January 31st 2008

The Last stand of Roftwood was a battle between the Malton Medical Staff (MMS), Upper Left Corner (ULC) and remaining survivors of Roftwood against the RRF and ferals. After systematically levelling the suburb building by building, the final building left was St. Ethelbert's Hospital, which came to be known as "That damn Hospital that just wont fall" - an embarrassment to the RRF that was finally overcome by using strike teams, death cultists and X:00 tactics. Though the battle was small, the conversation and comedy of the MMS and ULC together with the frustrations of the RRF about not being able to deal with a single VSB+2 Hospital was what made the event memorable.

Zombie Lectures

  • November 15th 2006 - Mar 19th 2007

In the spacious Quartly Library zombies and survivors debated things like zombie spies, strike teams and even love. After months of discussion, the zambahz had taught the harmanz about barhah, and fought for their safehouse like any survivor should.

Ricky Martin Concert

  • January 21st 2006

The first ever Ricky Martin concert in Malton took place. The concert began on January 21st at Floyd Stadium in Barrville, according to several fliers and advertisements sprayed on various buildings.

Move of Revive Points for RESCUE

A new way of having revive points is to have them indoors, in ruined buildings next to or close to the NT facilities. It reduces AP used in travelling for the revivifiers and is also easier for the newly revived to get inside. Please see RESCUE for more information.

The policy recommends using non-resource buildings such as a church or junkyard and so the potential candidates for the new indoor revive points are:
