Murder Awards

What happens if there's a tie in nominations, like for "best zombie group" ? There appears no clear third place. Do they all get considered as joint third? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 19:44, 30 August 2010 (BST)

Yeah, the 'top three' really means 'top three positions', so ties are considered in the nominees. I'm listing it all now. The sun shone, having no alternative, on the nothing new 16:16, 31 August 2010 (BST)

While I'm here

Have you seen this yet? Check the code for it. I've designed it from the ground up to be modifiable by anyone without needing any extra templates or anything (and the template that generates it all is actually remarkably light). Basically, anyone can create as many styles as they want, name them whatever they want, and then can apply them to whichever suburbs they want. They can also stylize the entire table however they want (though it has some preset defaults), and they can nest it into tables or divs however they want so that it fits on the page better. Basically, it could probably be used as a replacement for pretty much every minimap of the city that has ever existed or ever will on the wiki. With your wikimapping interest, I figured I'd point it out. Aichon 07:37, 1 September 2010 (BST)

Now that's nice. The sun shone, having no alternative, on the nothing new 13:37, 1 September 2010 (BST)
At the risk of appearing to be a RC stalker, I was wondering if that template was available for use? If it isn't going to change I'd like to use it for an event I've been planning.Moving to Aicon's talk page.~Vsig.png 14:38, 1 September 2010 (BST)

is there a way to hide page for a little while?

i'm cooking up something. maybe tuck it in my sandbox and hope no one notices? (yes it involves pking)----sexualharrisonStarofdavid2.png ¯\(Boobs.gif)/¯ 16:45, 8 September 2010 (BST)

If you really want to keep something hidden, I'd recommend typing it as a word document and just previewing it on the wiki, without hitting "save". ~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 17:10, 8 September 2010 (BST)
^ This --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 17:27, 8 September 2010 (BST)
yeah thats what i figured. I'll just use a text editor than. plus I wanna run some stuff by people via IRC.----sexualharrisonStarofdavid2.png ¯\(Boobs.gif)/¯ 18:01, 8 September 2010 (BST)
If you want to keep the stuff hidden and still share it online, Google-Docs along with invitations might be a solution. Of course, it can't preview wiki code straight, but is probably the most handy solution short of running and password-protecting your own wiki in a different corner of the net. -- Spiderzed 18:23, 8 September 2010 (BST)
Yep, text file is the way. I did the malties that way (though I kept a sandbox with no actual malties text to make sure I got the images aligned, etc). You can preview pages without ever saving or creating them, so you've no hassle looking at how it turns out. The sun shone, having no alternative, on the nothing new 23:28, 8 September 2010 (BST)

WN

Maybe instead of adding templates, you should discuss it. :P The way I see it, there are 3 main options; keeping it the same (which nobody wants to do), outlawing WNing, or reaching a mid-point such as Link's example and substing it on to talks. Well, I already told Mis that if I won it, I'd be giving the best zombie award to my horde (that is, BB3 as I'd sooner disassociate MOB from a PKer award ceremony,) but I really just wanted to know if there was a way of announcing this. I'm kind of stumped as to where or indeed whether it would be appropriate on the page. I've just announced it in #BB3 and given the zombies there permission to use the template, incidentally. I may not be able to make it to a ceremony, so Mis, if you're planning on doing one, do ya think you could you make a note about the donation during the broadcast? That would be ahzam, ta. --Amber Waves of Pain 10:23, 15 September 2010 (BST)
Currently dead in Dartside after testing Bellow some more. I'll try to make it up. Amber, you can also edit the front page of the awards page to show that you've given it to BB3, the page is just another public one. It's totally possible. Just needs careful planning. Look at the big zombie hordes. If they thinned a bit they'd cover more ground without much overall loss in anything but speed. If the balance of actual players and not just mrh-cow padding was to change, it'd be easily concievable. The sun shone, having no alternative, on the nothing new 22:51, 15 September 2010 (BST)
It's the speed that makes them so deadly, since they can wipe out infrastructure before repairs can take place. Spread them out and they move slowly enough that repairs happen right after they leave. It is possible, though, I think, to get, say, 70-30 with the current hordes fairly easily, if they just coordinated their efforts and moved in specific patterns. There are certain strategies that apply to horde movement which have significant impact on survivor populations (e.g. go in a spiral towards the middle to cause maximum damage, devastate everything around a survivor stronghold to retard reinforcement efforts, double back over recent repairs to ruin reinforcements and break morale). BB3 actually recently did that first one, which is a large part of why the entire Northwest got ruined recently. MOB did the same thing around Christmas time last year, which resulted in the SE getting wrecked, and both RRF and MOB had devastated the Pitneybank area right before that (i.e. point #2), which utterly gutted the survivor's strongest point in the eastern half of the city, leading to revive queues that were lasting for weeks. If they coordinated a bit to cut off lines of reinforcement and moved quickly, RRF, MOB, and BB3 could eat the city alive, but they'd never do it, and it's for the best of the game that they don't. Aichon 06:08, 16 September 2010 (BST)
Oh I'm not saying thinning the crowd out too much, obviously. But the three major hordes (four if you want to count BB3 but it'll not be around forever), if working in unison, could easily tackle 4-5 suburbs at a time, rather than 3, which gives a 33% raise in the actual area being attacked at a given time. It's also a case of logistics if the smaller hordes were to get on board, having the smaller hordes attacking areas with a lower block:building ratio, or building:TRP ratio, and especially targetting the SW-2 district with a concerted, but small, rotter contingent (one NT for the district can easily be pinataed, then camped in by more angry rotters than can be readily dealt with by a relief force that's being worn down through revive deprivation). Active co-operation between the hordes and the larger PKer groups could easily lead to a quicker demise, as the ability to scout inside, and clear TRPs quickly from the inside (especially the ever-contested forts and malls) only accelerates things. Of course, this is a game of ego more than anything else, and that level of co-operation is beyond reaching, so it's pretty much going to boil down to whichever side has the more tenacious players - give it two to three years, and I'd say the zombies, with players who average out to be much more thick-skinned about the whole thing, will be much more dominant.
