RE:News Pages

You're doing it right. There's really no procedure. You just copy and paste the old news into the archive. That's pretty much all there is to it. As for time frames of archival, I suppose the best time would be once a month. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:05, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

I did say I was siding with you less, not completely siding with harrison. I guess you have to earn your place here a bit. I suppose it's because on a big, professional wiki like wikipedia, people come and go. On this wiki, people kinda build up relationships because of the small player base and drama that happens around here. At least, that's what I think. Anyway, if you have any more questions (or opinions), I'd be happy to hear them. The sysops are open to questions, too, as you can see from axe hack above. Think of this as my apology, explanation, welcome, and tips, all rolled into one. Have a nice stay on this wiki! -- †  talk ? f.u. 17:02, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

Yo, hey

Since you seem to be so intent on helping out, you could help with UDWiki:Projects/Very Funny...or Not. It's not getting as much traffic as it should (along with a lot of other pages on this wiki, anyway). I've taken the project over for now, but it's not going anywhere without votes. There's also a link in my sig. -- †  talk ? f.u. 14:17, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Admin Page Cycling

Hey sorry about the revert. I didn't realize immediately what you were up to. Thought you were just removing the vote since it had closed. We have a newish admin page cycle method which is outlined here. This method does preclude users without "teh buttons" from cycling things, however.

See some discussion here for the thought process behind going with this method. I'm glad to see someone taking the initiative, though. You're the only person, sysop or otherwise, besides myself and Axe hack that has shown any interest in it for more than a year now.

Since you've already done most of the work, we can just go with what you've done today for this month's archives. Thanks for the help. ~Vsig.png 23:55, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I looked at the archived pages from December and tried to see what had happened with them so that I could do the same for January. :P --Shortround 10:53, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

If updating Mall statuses or other building statuses as unknown after a period of time, you can always give Template:Un a go. Good thing

...that someone has finally caught ye olde Misanthropy A/RE. Now if someone would do the same with ye olde promotion bids...

Speaking of which, sometimes between next week and in a month you will have reached the couple of months mark since your most recent bid. I still think you need to turn a bit more visible on the opinion pages to have a chance. A/RE and A/D are a good start, but most people are going to be most interested into your opinion on A/VB cases before they give you the power to rule there. Especially contested cases like Generaloberst (2) and (3) are good for talk page commenting. -- Spiderzed 15:25, 30 April 2012 (BST)

Thanks! I'll make sure to comment on those talk pages when controversial cases come up, but as I said before I don't really see a purpose when I don't have anything interesting or unique to contribute and those were pretty straightforward cases where I agreed with the majority rule. :P I'll think critically of cases as they come up.--Shortround }.{ My Contributions 15:27, 30 April 2012 (BST)
Oh wait, Oberst 2 was the really weird one wasn't it? Don't know how I feel about it. We have pretty clear case law against racism and it's TOS, so would have made sense for that to be vandalism. Commenting on a closed case after Karek told him not to is probably only soft warning territory.--Shortround }.{ My Contributions 15:32, 30 April 2012 (BST)
Case #2 might not be as clear and shut as you might think. Racism has been handled quite inconsistent in the past, as has been the handling of the TOS. We had escalations like this, this or this, but also soft warnings like this, and even unpunished moves like that.
As for A/VB commenting in general, it is generally expected that sys-op candidates show their stance towards and knowledge of the more sensitive wiki rules that might get users escalated - it is the power that needs to be executed most responsibly, and the one power most users are wary of before they grant the buttons to anyone. Vandal Banning and Misconduct commenting are just the best way to do that. -- Spiderzed 15:53, 30 April 2012 (BST)
When it comes to the cases you cited as going against the precedent: (1) The Misanthropy Case: There's a fairly large distinction between the two (although personally the Mis case kind of looks like vandalism). (2) The Cornholioo case was closed by Boxy with the following ruling: "I've given him a soft warning, any more of this on admin pages, and it's warning/ban time". Oberst 2 is the clear continuation of that behaviour (even if he wasn't Cornholioo he's made clear he was intimately familiar with Cornholioo's VB history. The two cases you cited make it clear that persistent behaviour is what gets punished and Oberst had done it consistently without a doubt.--Shortround }.{ My Contributions 16:00, 30 April 2012 (BST)

Our wall of victims speaks volumes. 1000 in under 7 months. And speaking from some experience, manhunting is a decidely survivor oriented sport for which the sun has already set. Events such as Red October must now evolve. We may be on the threshhold of a new dawn for PKers in Urban Dead. And the revolution will be televised. ~Vsig.png 15:03, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
A wall of victims is meaningness. Not everything is about quantity. It's quality that counts, and you can't get better quality than a group that is doing the game right by keeping the player base balanced, and thus, the game more fun. ;) --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 15:42, 3 May 2012 (BST)

That's pretty much every group. If you're lazy, Organization XIII is the group best suited for you. It's a stationary group, unlike FoD, Cobra, and CK, so no hassle of rushing to a new suburb. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 18:39, 3 May 2012 (BST)
Can't speak for the other groups but FOD is very organized. Arbitrary kills are welcome but our things is stomping on the more deserving survivor groups or individuals of Malton. And there are many.if you're lazy, then it may not be for you because we like dedicated members. You don't really strike me as a lazy person, though which is why I asked. ~Vsig.png 19:31, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
When I'm playing a game, I play it casually for fun, when I'm working I obviously work hard. You've seen the "work hard" side of me, but in game I generally just kill random people and do whatever because the purpose of a game is to relax and have fun. :) --Shortround }.{ My Contributions 20:02, 3 May 2012 (BST)

Pking may not be for you after all, then. Casual PKers are dead PKers. Same can be said for stationary PKers. We all start somewhere, though. ~Vsig.png 21:04, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
Stationary is a plus with Organization XIII. We are, after all, what one would call a quadruple nature group. It's another plus that O13 is dedicating itself to make one specific area of Malton a constant back-and-forth warzone. One small highly contested area means more people drawn to the area, which means more chaos, and ultimately, more fun. 'Cause lets face it. What UD needs is a smaller playing area. More contest in one designated area means we've already succeeded. ;) --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 21:14, 3 May 2012 (BST)

OK, let's cut this short. Shortround, here's what you'll get from each group. FoD, CK, and Cobra, despite their differences, are more interested in their kill counts. O13, sure they're counting their kills as well, but as Malton's only side swapping group, their current theme is utilizing the side swapping methods to create confusion amongst survivor groups, a bit of "who's side are you really on?" thing. Completely different than AZDC in which they have a different theme each week. The Organization plays both sides for fools at the same time. Heck, AZDC technically bastardized the Organization's theme. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 18:14, 3 May 2012 (BST)

How is it a bastardization if it is completely different? AZDC is about embracing every aspect of the game and because we're selfish and want to play the game our own way. It couldn't be any more different from Org13. ~Vsig.png 19:43, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
It kinda is. Sure, AZDC is more random, but take away AZDC's randomness, and O13's ratio based style, the theme is not different. They're two groups sharing a theme (and in a few irc chat logs on my phone, Meeso did state they drew some inspiration from the concept of O13's ratio based play, so yes. AZDC is a basterdized O13). --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 19:50, 3 May 2012 (BST)
I see your fuzzy logic, and raise you a good kick in the nuts.~Vsig.png 21:04, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
Groups with shifting playing-style - older than dirt. In other news, I recommend Cobra (the one that has actually any players left), but that should hardly surprise Tongue :P -- Spiderzed 21:27, 3 May 2012 (BST)
O13 has 13 members, 11 are active, and only 9 are using the tag. If we cut outthe impostors impersonating my Cobra alt, it will technically make Organization XIII the third biggest PKer group, right behind the PK and FoD. Join now, Shortround, or you might miss out on what might become the next big thing. ;) --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:36, 3 May 2012 (BST)
But if I joined then there wouldn't be 13 members of Organisation 13 any more! We wouldn't want that, would we?--Shortround }.{ My Contributions 02:13, 4 May 2012 (BST)
WARNING!!! NERD ALERT!!! In the Kingdom Hearts series, there was 14 members in Organization 13, although the 14th member was a replica, or a clone, and thus wasn't actually counted. Also, the original Organization XIII was defeated in Kingdom Hearts 2, however, a new Organization XIII rises to power in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, which only has 3 of the original members. Therefore, counting the uncounted 14th member, Organization XIII has a total of 24 members, not 13. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 02:28, 4 May 2012 (BST)
Hack, if you thought so little of the FOD, why did you try to join us? Regardless, I don't see what all the fuss here is over a level 8 player. If he reaches level 10 and wants to roll with the FOD, he can go through the process and earn his place on the 'roster' like everyone else. If that's too much, ORGXIII will gladly take him as has been made abundantly clear. Nothing personal Shortround. I just don't see what all the fuss is about. --Hibernaculum 04:11, 4 May 2012 (BST)

Axe, I'll concede that AZ/DC was partially inspired by Org13, as well as countless other dual-nature groups. But I would also like to point out that the only thing our two groups have in common is changing allegiances sometimes (sometimes AZ/DC doesn't help either side), so please don't call us a bastardization. (And yeah, hib, I don't get the hype- I think it's just that everyone is hurting for new recruits right now.) Well, shortround, go ahead and join Axe's group. He wants you bad.
