Ok lets see im wondering now that i have got your message loud and clear! Do i delete the message on the discussion page? PS- Dont expect useless pages to be written by me ever again!--[[1]] 22:35, 21 January 2007 (BST)

Um. The reason I deleted what I said is because I was mean to someone and I have posted in an inappropriate place. It was done with good intention.--SporeSore 02:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

How do you get those templates to line up so well? Look at mine, maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong. MaulMachine U! 22:01, 13 May 2006 (BST)

I got your message about needing to complete a PQRS and a JKL. I already finished the PQRS (Playing God), but all the JKL pages have already been filled out, so I won't be able to do them. Just letting you know. This is a very fun game, and I hope that if another one be held, I'll be the first to join.--ShadowScope 05:36, 27 May 2006 (BST)

Strange Pages

Hey, I found some things on recent changes and thought it should be brought to your attention. I discovered the pages UD Swingers and User:Monsieur Odilon, which are quite......strange. Should these be sent to deletions, or is it a case of vandalism? Thanks for your consideration. --Go to Zombie slay3r's Page 03:38, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Moderator

I think you and I have only spoken a couple of times (on the suggestions page, I believe), but I'm leaving a quick note because, as you may or may not know, I currently have a bid for moderator going. Unfortunately, most of the activity seems to have died down pretty quickly, and I know Kevan likes to see a larger number of opinions on potential future moderators. Since it looks like you've contributed to these things before, I'd appreciate it if, if it's not too much trouble, you could review my bid and weigh in on your thoughts about me, good or bad. (If you need a more extensive list of my contributions, I have one on my user page.) Thanks for your time and input, I really appreciate it. --Bob Hammero TW!U! 08:31, 1 June 2006 (BST)

Unofficial Forums page

Anime Sucks (a mod at resensitized) has been altering the forum order lately to put their forum at the top. Since I can see no measure by which they can justify this (age of forum, number of members, activity level, or even alphabetical), I keep returning Brainstock to the top. Now that it has gone a few rounds, and Anime just -rolled eyes- at my comments unding 'his' edits, I fear we are coming to an edit war. I'd rather avoid the trouble and disruption. Is this something the mods can step in and prevent? If so, is this sufficient request for such, or do I need to make a formal request someplace specific? Thanks --Gilant talk|DEM 15:59, 24 July 2006 (BST)

I never saw any presidence on how things should be ordered, and I felt that we belonged at the top since we were newer (and better in my opinion). Then you went and moved us to the bottom of the list, and I did the same with you. From what I understand, the rules are "I would like to see my forum be at the top of the list"... there are no alphabetical, number of posters, or oldest date presidence... if something like this is established, I'm fine with it.--Anime Sucks 23:11, 24 July 2006 (BST)

Request for an opinion or Arbitration on a pending deleting of a page

Hi SA-TA-EK-Rumisiel i request for your opinion on the Story Backstory page, on whether we should delete or merge or keep this page. As a recent arrival (Newbie) i feel that this page can greatly assist in the roleplaying scene, and can encourage more people to join the roleplaying scene. While others would prefer to delete this page, i am willing to accept at least a merge with the lexicon project. The rest of the argument is contained in the UDWiki:Moderation/Deletions under. However what you choose is of course up to you. Thanks for the help! :) --Akimbomidget 09:55, 26 June 2006 (BST)

Hi there, I was just warned about wiki vandalizing, but I have know idea what you are talking about. Please inform me who's wiki I vandalized so that I know what I did wrong (I posted on a few wikies yesterday). Much thanks. (Delta flyer 14:17, 14 May 2006 (BST))

Sorry for the being a bother sir, but the General's last warning said that posting kills was fine, but they didn't like the wording. I don't understand how my post was considered vandalism; they post on our (CDF) wiki all the time. Is it safe to say if anybody who isn't a member of a particular group's wiki can be considered a vandal? (Delta flyer 22:32, 14 May 2006 (BST))

Bureaucrat promotion

He, we all make mistakes. I do have to warn you though that you're awfully late stepping in. the actual promotion should've already happened. (originally the nomination part was supposed to be limited in to 1 week with a subsequent 2 weeks of voting) And as there is only one spot to fill you're at a distinctive disadvantage. But as the promotion can only be done by kevan it's quite likely you've got a week or so before he remembers this or somebody prods him into action. So there's still time for you to catch up. Good luck!--Vista 23:32, 24 June 2006 (BST)

Lexicon

Man that'd be boss. I'd write entries for it. The problem would be that it would go on for a loooooong time. Might lose people's attention. I think the most interesting thing we could do would be to get Kevan's blessing and make a contest out of it. Turn the best entries into official backstory. --Zaruthustra-Mod 01:26, 1 March 2006 (GMT)

The Template

"some particular reason we did it the other way the first time?"

Odd wanted it like that so it could be 'generic'. I discussed it with him on the template's talk page, IIRC. Honestly, it doesn't look like there's going to be even one more lexicon, let alone enough to make a break with naming convention necessary. –Xoid MTFU! 16:12, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

MFD/MPD category & template

It is possible to have the category be part of the template. See Sacred ground and UBP supporter templates. However you can't specify the name by which to alphabetize it when you do (at least I couldn't sort it out). So with them combined, all the members get listed under U, for User:. ... Wait, you just gave me an idea. --Gilant talk|DEM 20:36, 25 May 2006 (BST)

OK, I figured out a way to do it. I even changed it so the name would be in the template. But this introduces another problem! For example, if I put in 'Alex DeWitt' as the name of my MFD member, User:Gilant is now lister under A instead of G or U. I wonder if it's possible to display the entered name somehow? --Gilant talk|DEM 20:55, 25 May 2006 (BST)

Matthew Fahrenheit

Hey, Your radio suggestion is a good one, but it needs some work. I just voted Spam so it catchs the attention of everyone whos voting keep just because they like the general idea. This is what you need:

  • Some building where you can find Radios, and some ratio for those finds (like 5% to find a Radio in Necrotechs, i dunno)
  • Some limitating factor for the people who broadcasts: You cant have all people with broadcast to just broadcast away all they want. Do something in the same fashion as Spraycans limits graffity, or radio messages will be just another source of spam.
  • IMHO, Broadcast wuold be placed under miscellaneous skills. Anyways, tell us where do you want it to be placed.

Just fix that and it wuold be a very cool suggestion, not a half brewed one as it is now. Btw, on my spam vote i said something about too much range. Forget it, as i readed the suggestion again, i think its not a problem. Good luck! --Matthew Fahrenheit 03:12, 27 May 2006 (BST)

I dont think of myself as an unexperienced guy in Urban Dead, and i have been around the wiki enough to know how it works, altough i dont like to post a lot (and i must confess im still learning how to post on it). Im just trying to help because yours is a great idea, and i wont like a great idea to die for lack of work on it. Anyways, i hope you take my advice in consideration, that is all i amount to. And excuse my lack of knowledge on the english language!! As one of your templates says, i hope i fit in the "newbie" category, and not in the "n00b" one ^_^ --Matthew Fahrenheit 03:36, 27 May 2006 (BST)

Cinnibar

(comment copied from Suggestions page re Linear XP) : The only way this would work would be if it was voluntary on the player's part, and there was some sort of carrot for doing it. Like, if they log in and have six new skills available, but the cost of their next skill is what they owe on everything they have based on the new tiers plus the new skill level based on the tiers, and they have the one-time option of wiping thier skills and re-buying whatever they wanted. In other words, they can keep what they've got, but they've got to earn 3000 xp before they can buy the next skill if they have 20 skills and they don't want to dump everything they know. Or they can dump all thier skills and rebuy to get the ubercoolhaxor skillz. This way those with all the skills already don't get screwed unless they want access to the new skills. It would grandfather the previously maxed characters in, but they wouldn't be able to get anything new until they caught up XP-wise.

(Additional commentary) : Really, it's not a horrible idea to have linear level progression, but the only way to sell this is if people realize that there's an out where players can avoid getting screwed over.

Based on your math, let's say we've got a typical Level 31 Survivor. Under the old system, this guy spent (roughly) 3000 XP on his skills already (assume 100/skill, and he started with one skill, now has 31 skills). Under the NEW system, to re-buy 30 skills/levels would cost a grand total of 7155. At best, this hypothetical character would only be able to re-buy about 19 skills/levels... which is still pretty powerful. Pointing out a specific example like this isolates that the characters on average would have MORE skills if they were under level 8, they even out at about level 9, and they only get 'hurt' at 10+. So the high level characters, without a stick, wouldn't want to dump thier skills, but almost every newbie would want to re-buy! The high-level characters, however, need a reason.

If say, as I mentioned earlier, there are suddenly 3-5 new cool survivor skills and 3-5 new zombie skills, the maxed player wants them... needs them perhaps. If they've got the OPTION of re-buying some will dump and re-buy to get the newer skills. And some players will say, "No, I'm happy with what I've got". In the previous example, our 31st level character would have needed 7155 to get to 31 under the new system, but spent 3000... so his cost for the 32nd skill, normally...er... 440, is the cost of the new skill, PLUS the make-up cost if he doesn't dump the skills (7155 - 3000 = 4155)... so if he wants a spiffy new skill, he's gotta build up a total of 4595 xp before he can buy it.... or he can dump everything and re-buy.

A carrot. Now nobody 'loses' skills unless they choose to access the new ones. They can stay under the old system and avoid the re-buy, but their tradeoff is that they're waiting longer for the uberstuff.

Personally, I'd up the incremental cost to about 20 xp per level (50/90/130), mostly because I like round numbers and because then Mr. Level 31 would only re-buy to roughly level 16, which is more than enough to get most of the survivor skills back without overpowering them, and they'd still have something to look forward to. At that tier, a true maxed character (Level 37?/3600xp) re-buys to 18, pretty formidable. Or they keep what they have and watch everyone else use the new cool shit.

This solves another problem, by the way. There's no mass-reset and people don't log in to find all of the skills they had suddenly GONE. It's a voluntary, individual character reset. Or they don't even have an option and only new characters get the new tiers. Either way, people can't scream, "OMFG, U TAKED MY SKILLZ!!!1!!11!oneone"

I'm really trying to give you good feedback on this one, as I'd like to see the incremental change, but it just screws too many people over without thinking it through completely.--Cinnibar 01:26, 31 May 2006 (BST)

Btw, the re-buy/reset option available to the player would probably tell them how many skills they'd be able to re-buy if they reset. "If you reset, you will be able to re-buy X skills. Your next skill will cost 4595xp if you do not reset. You can only reset ONCE." --Cinnibar 01:39, 31 May 2006 (BST)

A Strange Case

I believe we have a case of vandalism (actually a few, but they can be lumped into one). Officer otep's user page has been edited by four different people. The main focus is on Dr Allison and Hatchet Man Jim, as they are separate people. Xoid and I aren't quite sure what to do, though... Cyberbob  Talk  13:06, 27 June 2006 (BST)

Dr Allison is my housemate, I must have edited my page after he had been active on the wiki and not signed out (we use the same computer). Hatchet Man Jim was an alt of mine, who is now retired. This could have been clarified a lot sooner if someone had just mentioned it to me, rather than me just stumbling across this page by accident. Now that this has been addressed could this be removed from the page, myself and Allison like to keep our affairs seperate. Officer Otep 20:27, 10 August 2006 (GMT)
