Whittenside is a suburb on the south eastern edge of Malton and is a somewhat spartan neighbourhood. Even before the outbreak, life in Whittenside revolved around the Fort Perryn army base, where most of its residents dwelt. The suburb -- as well as its neighbour to the west, Danversbank -- thus lacks some of the amenities and consumer conveniences most Maltonians took for granted, such as a nearby mall, a variety of bars and clubs, museums, libraries, etc. Nor did it ever develop much in the way of local industry. This was never much of an issue for the soldiers who called Perryn their home.

Whittenside contains the southern portion of Fort Perryn and its Armoury as well as two Police Departments, two Fire stations, two Hospitals, and three Necrotech facilities.

What to see in Whittenside

Fort Perryn The core of Whittenside's defense

Ccpatch fpdf.png

Historic Fort Perryn forms the centerpiece of both Whittenside’s defensive strength and its strategic vulnerability. For survivors, Fort Perryn offers protection, ammunition, medical treatment and the occasional game of naked twister. Its high walls and well-manned gatehouse keep out unwanted undead and its buildings provide most of the amenities needed to survive in an urban wasteland. On a less practical note, survivors may want to visit this site to soak up some of the local history. This building, erected in October of 1912 and named in honor of Brig. Gen. Perryn-Moore, is a testimonial to the resilience of the Whittenside citizenry. Over the years since its reactivation at the onset of the zombie outbreak, Fort Perryn has fallen to the zombie hoards time and again (usually at the hands of The Feral Undead, or FU as they are called) only to be retaken and repaired by the next wave of patriots. Fort Perryn is the headquarters of The Fort Perryn Defense Force, but all manner of Malton’s finest have graced its battlements including Bob Boberton and several other high ranking members of Fortress. While survivors clamor to walk the battlements where giants have fought and died, Zombies have been no less draw to this prominent strategic spot. As mentioned, the FU have made it a point to see that these walls never stand long, and several of their high ranking members can usually be found stalking the ample streets of Whittenside picking off stranded survivors (street treats), or piled up outside the Gatehouse of Fort Perryn chewing on the doors.

The Colglough Building Whittenside's Heart

AquaNT.jpg

Located directly in the center of Whittenside, in the heart of a once burgeoning downtown district that has since withered on the vine, Stands the Colglough Building. The exact origin of its name was lost with most of its other records during the early outbreaks, but theories circulate as to the exixtance of one Reginald Colglough, an early pioneer in the field of cellular regeneration and a noted Philanthropist. This Necrotech facility, with the aid of its satellite facility The Hurst Building in the south, services the area’s revivification needs, providing the goods and services not to be found within Fort Perryn.

Dr. Schwan's Essentials

A.s.egraphic.png

The Colglough Building—under the new directorship of Dr. Albert Schwan—has become the production site of the Dr. Schwan’s Essentials product line, supplying survivors with Zombie Repellent Hair Tonic, Pre-Mortem Wrinkle Solution, and other products. From time to time, Dr. Schwan’s laboratories in Cologlough have even been known to host a “live” test zombie to facilitate pre-release product testing.

Dr Schwan’s Culinary

Dsculinary.png

Working off of the success of the Dr. Schwan’s Essentials product line, Albert Schwan found himself late one night in Colglough wondering how to improve the lives of those within the quarantine zone through the use of Necrotech science. While staring at a blank work-pad, The doctor gagged down a pre-packaged lunch from the Necrotech cafeteria deepfreeze to maintain his strength. At that moment, an idea hit him like a lump of scalding hot preheated gravy hitting the bottom of an empty stomach. If a society works on its stomach, there must be a way to improve the quality of post-outbreak life by improving the caliber of the available cuisine…THROUGH SCIENCE! Thus was born Dr. Schwan’s Culinary product line, the newest in scientific advancements from the Colglough Building Labs.

Dr. schwan’s Research and Development Team

Dsrd.png

Based in Whittenside’s Colglough Building and started by Dr. Albert Schwan in March of 2010, Dr. schwan’s Research and Development Team is a group of devoted scientists and survivors looking to improve the lives of survivors and zombies alike through appropriation of Necrotech science. While Dr. Schwan still searches for a definitive cure for the rot virus and the associated paralytic state associated with the outbreak, the founding philosophy of this group holds that the zombie/survivor dynamic is the fact of life in Malton. To improve this dynamic for the benefit of all concerned, Dr. schwan’s Research and Development Team helps to keep tabs on the state of the rot virus in Whittenside through their updated brainrot Database, and helps to mprove quality of life through the Dr. Schwan’s Essentials, Dr. Schwan's Culinary, and The Doc’s Novelties product lines.
