20070826 AP Cost Check

Suggestion description
Server checks the amount of AP the user has and makes sure that the user has enough AP to cover the cost of the action. For instance, people manufacturing syringes (20 AP) when they have 1 AP, people standing up (6-15 AP) when they have less than the required amount, and zeds moving with 1 AP when it costs two. Not really critical since they still pay the AP cost anyways (they go into the negatives and have to wait til they go back into the green before they can perfom any actions) but it just makes more sense.

Keep Votes
- Pwnfalkes OMG best suggestion evur! No, I don't really like this, but I like to make people vote. Lol. I bet you all hate me now. BoboTalkClown 01:19, 29 August 2007 (BST)
- Keep The point of this would not be to help somebody not go into negatives. But to be fair, by going into neg. AP you are effectively scheduling a task for future AP to be used on, why should this be okay for manufacturing syringes and standing up, but not for scheduling future barricaded, attacking, searching, etc. The server should deny you the action if you do not have enough AP to be fair to all playing styles. Kill Votes
- Kill - Work it out yourself. The only variant of this I would consider useful would be when trying to manufacture a syringe when you were close to your IP hit limit, rather than the AP limit which is always on the screen for you to read The preceding signed comment was added by boxy (talk • contribs) at 07:24 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Yeah go ahead and count yourself. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 07:44, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Is the purpose of this suggestion that the server should deny you an action you don't have the AP for? (i.e. can't rise from a headshot if you don't have 6 ap) If not then i don't understand your suggestion (perhaps a re-submit is in order). If so then i think i'd rather AP debt. So long as you don't get extra AP(above lost AP from having 50), having to wait an hour because i need 2 AP to do something strikes me as not worth the effort.
- As I read it, this stops people from going into negative AP. IMO that's bad; the main use of some of those is precisely that they allow you to "go negative". What I'd rather see is some warning cue to tell you an action will leave you with zero or fewer AP- perhaps the buttons for such actions could be red, or some such. And no, a "confirm" message would NOT do, because having to confirm a ?rise during combat (whether as a bullet sponging zombie or lucky survivor who got needled indoors) would generally result in your body getting dumped, and you standing outside rather than inside. - Kill - it's ok to go negative --~~~~T''' 15:25, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Let people go into negatives if they want to. --Saluton 15:37, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - As above -- Pavluk 15:53, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - As per Swiers, Duke, Saluton, etc --Ryiis 17:40, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill - No rationale is given for avoiding letting people go negative. The decision to allow it is arbitrary, but arguing for it to change requires an actual argument... --Pgunn 17:57, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill Huh? Why? --Secruss 23:37, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill I can't see a strong reason for this. --8 Bucks 20:41, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Kill for the reasons already given-- Vista +1 11:59, 4 September 2007 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - If you can still go to negative AP, then what's the change? --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 10:52, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Spam - We can go into negative AP, so there is no need for this. And if you can't do simple math... well... --WanYao 19:24, 26 August 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Negative AP is a valid game mechanic and should not be messed with, ever.--Karekmaps?! 00:16, 27 August 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Useless, server load, simple math. Yep. --Druuuuu 19:59, 28 August 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Completely useless. --The Grimch Sysop-U! 02:05, 29 August 2007 (BST)
- Spam Where is the suggestion here? What are we even voting on? This is just someone talking about people going negative on AP. Near as I can tell the suggestion is that the server waste time checking to see if a person is going to go negative...but to what end? If you don't want to go negative, pay attention to your own AP!--Pesatyel 03:08, 29 August 2007 (BST)
- What? -I was about to vote dupe until I realized that this wasn't really a suggestion. --AlexanderRM 14:14, 29 August 2007 (BST)
- Spam - It's basic math people. Not Quantum Physics. Is it that hard to do?-- dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 16:46, 9 September 2007 (BST)
