20070919 Prestige Attacks

Survivors/Zombies Suggestion description
Some of us have been playing UD a long time. We have all the skills and so xp doesn't really mean much to us. I suggest providing flavorful features that don't actually provide any tactical advantages to players when they have certain amounts of xp. These would take the form of new items findable in buildings, or new attacks, that allow you to be cooler without being more powerful. These are just possible examples to illustrate the idea, so don't kill because you think a specific thing below doesn't fit, or should be introduced differently:

  • At 5,000xp survivors can find brass knuckles in bars and clubs. It deals damage equivalent to the axe with the same attack % and the same inventory space. When you kill a zombie it provides a message like "You slam the zombie with an uppercut to the chin and headshot it", etc.
  • At 5,000xp zombies get a more descriptive message visible to the victims they kill "A zombie attacks you for 3 damage, tearing into your innards and pulling up slimy puple bits. You die."
  • At 10,000xp survivors can find swords in mansions and inside certain museums. The sword has the same values as the axe.
  • At 10,000xp a zombie gains the ability to emote nibbling on corpses if there are dead bodies present.

So it doesn't do anything that provides a tactical advantage, but it's a way of showing off. And these rewards can be spread out so you get one every few thousand xp so there's always something to work towards.

Keep Votes

  1. Keep Bragging rights for all! Erm, all with lots of xp. Fortunately if you don't have lots of xp you can play and earn some. --Jon Pyre 19:42, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  2. keep Trenchie's are players too and I want a Claymore.... FREEDOM!!! Seriously tho what is you peoples problem with trenchcoaters? Its a game about fighting zombies not just sitting in dank rooms and occasionally sticking little pricks in each other :) --Honestmistake 22:53, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - I don't want a claymore, but I agree with Honestmistake in that trenchies are players too. -- John RubinT! ZG FER 07:21, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Weak Jeep - It's a fucking sword, not an excuse for non-exsistant "trenchcoaters" to hack everything up. Anyway, change the XP levels.
  5. Keep - Having a flashy way to make a kill is cool and all, but I would rather have an interesting message like, "You were killed by username, the Legendary zombie hunter." What might make more sense is being able to decorate your weapons with a spraycan or toolbox to say, "username hit you with a red, white, and blue fireaxe"-- Robert Gibson 11:21, 21 September 2007 (CST)
  6. Keep Having killed all those people/zeds should give you some kind of reward that shows how much gore you've had to go through to get there. --Thragnor 23:00, 23 September 2007 (BST)
  7. Keep it! Nothing like a special attack to tell someone you hate their guts, and as said before, trenchies are people too. Rebel147 21:02, 27 September 2007 (BST)
  8. Keep Bragging rights ftw. Give us maxed out players something to look forward to other than the tired old drudgery of slaughtering the undead. --MrCoolantSpray 18:11, 28 September 2007 (BST)
  9. Keep Flavorful, not unbalancing. Could probably use some more goodies at more levels. I would like to see this implemented without notification, to provide some surprises. --Nosimplehiway 23:28, 28 September 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill, erm no KEEP - "be cooler without being more powerful" is exactly what this game needs ... NOT. And the same goes for "emote nibbling". But since you demanded not to vote kill because of that, here's my keep. I like the general idea.-- [ ρsych°Lychεε ]  T 09:55, 3 October 2007 (BST)
  11. Sure, why not? - It's only flavor. Let the trenchcoaters have their katanas. Heck, I'd probably get one if I could, and I do a lot more barricading and reviving than fighting. --Reaper with no name TJ! 16:40, 5 October 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - Never liked bragging rights, never will... just looks as another reason to act like an asshole to me, or magnify someone's current asshattery to untold levels. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 19:46, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - Would be better to have the excess XP be useful for something... (maybe one extra max HP per 1000 XP?) --Pgunn 19:59, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - You're a regular dude regardless of how much XP you have. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 20:00, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - don't give Trenchcoaters their katanas. --Pavluk A! E! 20:05, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - Guys, there is a difference between a katana and a simple sword. :). If a sword was to be implemented, I'd fight for it to be a simple longsword or a zweihänder. And as a solution to trench coaters, use one with a less known origin, like a Szabla or a Karabela. Both are from European countries, so it could be plausible that a few would be in a museum. Honestly though, I'd really like a sword as a flavor weapon. The foil just doesn't cut it. Pun intended.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 20:48, 19 September 2007 (BST)
Hehe, I know that there are other types of sword :-). Personally, a scimitar would be fun to have in-game. Zweihändern would also be cool. However, I reckon that if this made it into the game, the description would simply say 'sword', and so can see this idea leading to plenty of trenchtastic "ZOMG I has katana" moments. Also, I mostly agree with Matthew F on the dangers of bragging-rights. --Pavluk A! E! 20:59, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Sounds pretty lame. --Karlsbad 20:58, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - But it could be a keep, if u improved it. BoboTalkClown 21:26, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - One word: NEXUSWAR! Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  22:45, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill - Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 22:55, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - Assclownsmanship would ensue. --Steakfish 23:26, 19 September 2007 (BST)
  11. kill - don't give Trenchcoaters their katanas. Very well said Pavluk. doc crook 00:36, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  12. Weak Kill/Change - Nice work, but the possibility for an explosion of trenchie obnoxiousness is too great. Perhaps you could take out the sword? --Hhal 00:59, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - As Karlsbad.--Karekmaps?! 01:23, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  14. Changeish -The trouble with this is that, once you have 10,000 XP, you'll just come back to ask for something else to do. You'd also mostly not think this was worth it. We need something like that +1 max AP per 1,000 XP (maxed at 100AP): regular rewards (you don't just keep working for nothing) yet really large amounts of XP so it'll take a long, long time before people start maxing out. Why, when that happens, we could give the alternative of getting 1 extra HP, and when people start maxing out that... uh... --AlexanderRM 01:28, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  15. Kill/Change- Sounds pretty lame; what you could do is give the player the option of having these ridiculous tweaks on or off, but even then I wouldn't like it. --Vkkhamul 02:43, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  16. Kill - We need something to spend extra XP on, but this isn't it. --Sonofagun18 09:53, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  17. Kill - No way! Apart from anyhting else, most people who reach this level of experiance rarely give a crap about this kind of bragging and also tend to pick their battles as well. All in all, most people who would love this get killed often by people who don't like bragging. (oh, and S.A? Surely the best sword to be lugging around would be a medievil broadword.)--Seventythree 10:29, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  18. Kill This also seems kindof unfinished, How do Chew on bodies again? At the expense of 1HP?--Kaynex 12:32, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  19. Kill - as Matthew, Pavluk and others --~~~~ [talk] 12:49, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  20. Change - I'm for the idea of using excess XP to add harmless flavor, but some of the choices are a bit too much. Automatically granting a weapon of any kind for XP doesn't feel right. I like the ability to modify your kill sentences, so maybe revisit with that.--Actingupagain 22:03, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  21. I prefer if you can pay XP to gain titles and levels, but it's been suggested by me before and it remains undecided. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:54, 20 September 2007 (BST)
  22. Kill - There are already prestige attacks... you go and find a golf club, or hockey stick, or whatever, and finish someone off with it... meh -- boxytalk • 15:52 21 September 2007 (BST)
  23. Kill - Matthew F. nailed it... And if you're genuinely all that and hot shot and an uber-elite veteran... well... I dunno, do something constructive, like help newbies. Or start a new alt and be newbie again, it's kinda challenging being weak and all you know... --WanYao 03:43, 23 September 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Suggestions Do and Don'ts. ALL SKILLS MUST COST 100 XP! Rare does not equal balance! Blah, blah, blah! I'd rather the ability to go trench be 0 XP, actually, for boosting trenchcoaters is a good idea. If it wasn't for irrational hatred of the other side and overboosted ego, Urban Dead would have been killed a long time ago.--ShadowScope 17:14, 20 September 2007 (BST)
