20090408 Contagion
Honestmistake 09:51, 8 April 2009 (BST)
Suggestion type
Skill.
Suggestion scope
Zombies or more precisely dead survivors
Suggestion description
So virulently infected is this vile specimen of zombiehood that their bite is not only infectious but that infection has become contagious. Should an already infected target be bitten with a contagious bite they will be considered to have the Infectious Bite skill until they are cured!
Obviously this is going to have little effect on survivors who are not killed as they don't bite people and tend to get cured pretty damn fast anyway. On the other hand a survivor who is killed while contagious may find that the option to infect people is enough of a boost to their attacks that they are happy to remain a zombie for a while instead of rolling up to the nearest revive point? Rather than making it possible to get revived/infected/killed and thus gain the skill for free I would think a natural recovery would be essential and would suggest that the chance of recovery should be something like 25-50% checked each time the 'carrier' stands up. Also it would be impossible to further infect a standing zombie meaning that if 'cured' a zombie would have to be revived in order to be re-infected.
Put simply this skill does nothing for the zombie who buys it and no additional harm to the survivor who is bitten, if the bitten survivor stands up as a zombie while infected he or she will have a very good chance of having the chance to infect others with their bite even if they do not have the infectious bite skill... the more often said zombie dies though the more chance that they will lose this ability unless they buy it properly.

Keep Votes
- keep obviously I like this. --Honestmistake 09:58, 8 April 2009 (BST)
- Keep - I like this. It's quirky and does give dual nature that little bit extra appeal. Not much, but it is definitely a step in the right direction. -- Cheese 21:27, 9 April 2009 (BST)
- Keep/Change - All zombies should just have Infectious Bite as a starting skill, the moment they become Zombies, regardless of if they started as Zombies or become one for the first time after Death as a Survivor.--Zombie Lord 11:05, 21 April 2009 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - High level players won't get anything from this, and most pro-survivors will ignore their new temporary skill and seek a revive as usual. And please, "25-50%?" This isn't DevSug. Pick a solid number. --Bob Boberton TF / DW 15:04, 8 April 2009 (BST)
- It was on DevSug for a week with no comment, I think 25% personally but recognize that others will think its low (or high). At the end of the day its a number that i think would never be revealed if this got implemented and would be very open to tweaking hence I put in a broad range for illustrative purposes. --Honestmistake 15:42, 8 April 2009 (BST)
- Sympathetic Kill - I'd like to applaud you for trying to encourage a dual nature playstyle, and I'm not opposed to the idea of temporary infection powers. However, I don't think it's right to reward you for another zombie's purchase of Infectious Bite. --LaosOman 22:31, 8 April 2009 (BST)
- Kill - As above. It's an interesting idea, but the only survivors I know that would use this skill are PKers. Not to discriminate or anything, but it would probably useless to most players. And as said before, it's not right to reward someone with a skill they didn't earn. --Fujiko Mine 22:47, 8 April 2009 (BST)
- to answer both the above voters I will point out that feeding drag and groan do very little for the zombie who purchases them, both being pretty altruistic towards other zeds. I was aiming for interesting and in genre rather than outright useful but thanks for the very positive kill votes anyway :) --Honestmistake 23:07, 8 April 2009 (BST)
- Kill - It's a skill that won't see any significant use by the majority of players. Part of suggesting a new skill is saying why we need another skill, and I don't see a need for this one. --Maverick Talk - OBR 404 06:36, 9 April 2009 (BST)
- Kill Interesting but no --mo ヽ(´ー`)ノ MCM MOB DB 20:21, 9 April 2009 (BST)
- Kill - As a pro-survivor I don't like it that much, good try though. Nemesis645 18:05, 13 April 2009 (BST)
