Last 10 Actions

Timestamp: Preasure 13:16, 11 April 2007 (BST)
Type: New
Scope: Interface
Description: The 'since your last turn' messages vanish after the page is navigated away from – the only way to see them again is by using the Back button on your browser or coppying them into another program. This makes things harder for players who want to know lots of previous actions – zombies following Feeding Groans, survivors keeping track of battles, and everyone else who wants to know who has done what while they were inactive.

I propose a box, beneath the status box, that shows the last 10 actions that player witnessed, just as they are displayed normally. The box would have a link to a settings page, where players could pick which types of actions they would like to 'remember' using check boxes, for example only remembering Feeding Groans or ingnoring radio messages. There would also be an option to turn the box off if the player did not wish to use it.

This would allow players to look back on past actions without having to go back to a previous page and wasting IP hits, and provide an easy reference for players involved in real-time scenarios where lots of events happen quickly.

  1. Keep - However, you would have to make sure the Coordinates of when you heard that/saw it were noted. And I pressume you would still get the since your last turn message? -- Dance Emot.gifTheDavibob T 13:32, 11 April 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - There are a few small issues that need to be figured out for this one, but I like it in principle. --Gm0n3y 18:19, 11 April 2007 (BST) EDIT: Telling people to write their own program to do something that the game can't is a little much. Even telling people to download FF extensions isn't good, what about people who play at work and can't install them?
  3. Keep - just a cosmetic changes... let it be--Duke Garland 19:40, 11 April 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - Why are people killing this for metagaming reasons? The ability to set what you "remember" makes it more convenient than using the back button (where you might have to read through 50 lines of radio spam to read what you want). Why should features like this be limited to the metagame and require extensions or whatever? The more of that sort of thing that can be incorporated into the game itself, the better. Otherwise, the next logical step would be to get rid of all forms of in-game communication to help free up server space since all of that stuff can be done outside the game. --Reaper with no name TJ! 20:16, 11 April 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - I see no reason not to. --Peterblue 23:12, 11 April 2007 (BST)
  6. Keep - It's unobtrusive. It's simple. It's helpful. Why not? --BBM 15:25, 12 April 2007 (BST)

  1. Uh...you don't waste IP hits when hitting the back and forward button...Unless you clicked on a profile link while on the previous page, that is... --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 13:36, 11 April 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - Or, you could just not be lazy and copy them into an external program. Or, heaven forbid, build a program to use the game through that automatically logs EVERYTHING you see (or a firefox extension to do that). This is just a case of users wanting the game to be modified to do something that they could do themselves quite easily. And really, how often are you in a real-time scenario? --Saluton 14:49, 11 April 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - I just haven't found it a problem. Hit back to the first log in page, read, hit forward to your latest position. It's a simple game -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 15:10, 11 April 2007 (BST)
