September 2008

September 22nd

The Inman Building (NT) has fallen into zombie hands. Survivors are asked to revive people at Mermagen Street and Wedmore Grove. In other news the Imperium and the Dulston Alliance have declared war on the Pescodside Defense Alliance, because of PDA members killing their leaders. When asked about why they were killed, PDA leader Lemonhead7t7 had this to say:

"The Imperium and the Dulston Alliance have signed up with the Malton Uprising, who hopes to reform the DEM by killing their members. This makes them Murderers in my opinion, (although I think we can all agree that is fact). Killing them seemed only right, as they had intentions to kill DEM members. The BAR have also signed up with the Malton Uprising, and I hope they come to their senses and leave before people label them as Murderers as well." LemonHead7t7 *̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡|͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|]]| ̡̡̡ ̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡*̡͌l̡* Talk/PDA/Red Rum/MOB 20:55, 22 September 2008 (BST)

Everything after the Inman Building falling is not news, there has been no formal declaration of war to my knowledge by the Imperium on the PDA and considering I'm somewhat in charge that would be one serious surprise if that had happened. All else has been removed as it is blatant propaganda and not news, put that on your group's news page thank you.Garviel LokenMaltesecross2.jpgNo Pity! No Remorse! No Fear! The Browncoats showed up to shoot the groups known as the Imperium of Man and The Dulston Alliance, on the grounds that they are being crazy 'lil fascists. The Malton Uprising will not be allowed to impose their will on unsuspecting survivors. --Blanemcc 21:13, 22 September 2008 (BST)
And the zambahs rejoiced (though rejoiced in great puzzlement), as harmanz proceeded to introduce one another to the joys of Barhah of their own initiative. "The NE was indeed ripe for the revolution," said an anonymous zombie spokesperson. "Long live the New Flesh!" With Dulston in ruins, the zombies continue their crusade of liberation throughout the rest of the NE, casting off the iron shackles of survivor domination wherever they may be found. --Jen 21:43, 22 September 2008 (BST)

Only the one short sentence about the Inman Building is actually News. The rest is non-NPOV progaganda and/or spam (Jen's post = the former; blane's the latter) --WanYao 04:49, 23 September 2008 (BST)

Ok ... on second thought, I'll put Lemonhead's original post back. I guess this is important stuff... especially to the Ronin at St Ninian's... LOL --WanYao 04:56, 23 September 2008 (BST)
So...are you all ever going to figure out what exactly constitutes NPOV? I know my post there was over the line, and fully expected it to be removed along with Blane's. That said...I didn't include any strategic and tactical advice. If I'd left out the anonymous zombie spokesperson, and included a concrete detail...like...say, the ronin outside the hospital, would it have counted as news?
Also, will I get warned and blocked from the wiki if I keep responding to NPOV and spam posts with equally NPOV statements, instead of labeling them "NPOV"/spam and moving them? --Jen 00:08, 24 September 2008 (BST)
No... You'd just be taken to Arby... At worst. :D Now, as I've said, info about the territorial PeePeeKaying contest is news... However, as I've also said, the posturing and propagandising -- for example Kittithaj's completely biased spamarticle which I just deleted and placed below -- is not News. And a little bit of trash-talking and self-promotion has always been permitted, and is generally thought to make things a bit more interesting. See, for example, my last post about fall of St Ninnie's. But there are obvious cases where this goes over the line. And most people actually do "get" the difference... It's not that hard... you just have to have half a brain, and the desire to be other than an asshat... --WanYao 17:28, 24 September 2008 (BST)
May it be noted that the DA and the Imperium are openly attacking PDA members and have called in PKer groups to assist. --Blanemcc 21:16, 23 September 2008 (BST)
May it be noted that until proof of any such attacks upon PDA members is presented (or, shucks, even just the names of attacker and attacked, for that matter), the Uprising's unofficial death-list keeper considers Blanemcc a delusional and slanderous cad. --Jen 23:55, 23 September 2008 (BST)
News is Non-Point Of View. This has all been Point Of View. Take it off, and, if you want, continue the conversation on the Talk Page. I hope that's not too difficult for you to find, is it dearies? --PerpetuallyDead 00:33, 24 September 2008 (BST)
Blanemcc... that has already been noted... Lemonhead posted the News item about the hostilities and its context. It's all been said, and the rest is just propaganda... --WanYao 18:02, 24 September 2008 (BST)

More non-Pov removed from the News, same date

While joining the Malton Uprising, the movement that supports killing of DEM personnel to make a point, is ethically questionable by itself, one has to wonder if it is a good idea for the PDA to alienate itself from its former allies, the Dulston Alliance and the Imperium, both of which are strong and capable pro-survivor groups, and are working to help defending Pescodside from the advancing zombie horde. Now, thanks to the open hostility of the PDA, both alliances are pulling their forces out of Pescodside. It is unknown how a group of a dozen like the PDA will handle a horde of a hundred zombies, seeing the Inman NT building under their control has already fallen. -- Kittithaj 18:45, 23 September 2008 (BST)

Read Me First

New to Pescodside? That's fine. We welcome all newcomers in our fine littel suburb, unless they have a hunger for other people's brains. You don't eat brains now do you? Good, good. Now before I get side-tracked in some off-topic philosophical debate I'll point out the basics.

What you shouldn't be doing here

  1. No Revive Requests - If you just died and want to be revived, don't post about it here. Odds are no one will read it and you will just be wasting your time. Rather check the monitored revive points on the Pescodside suburb page. Go to one of those locations and then post a request to the appropriate group (on their forum preferrably). That is the fastest way, short of luck, to get revived.
  2. No News - Older threads are either kept here for relevancy or just deleted. If you posted a comment that is "old news" fast (i.e. the so-and-so horde is coming!) you can expect it to be deleted after a while. Better that you post your news as a news item on the suburb page instead.
  3. No Nonsense - If you have a gripe with someone, take it to their wikipage, don't post it here. We could probably care less about who you hate. Unless we hate them too, but then we're posting about it on their wikipage. You get the idea.

What you might want to do here

  1. Advertise - Got a new group and want people in the suburb to join? Feel free to post about it here. This includes all types of groups, zombie and survivor, as this Talk page is associated with the suburb page and should therefore be reasonably NPOV. Just don't expect a lot of offers, as this page is not often read.
  2. Discussions - Problems? Solutions? If it has to do with any location in the suburb feel free to discuss it here.
  3. Plans/Ideas - Have a new suburb barricade plan? Want to discuss what should be done about the so-and-so group that's causing trouble? Feel free to post your comments here and maybe someone will reply, sooner or later.

Now obviously there are topics that don't fall under any of these so I'll leave it up to you to decide whether you feel it's worth posting on this Talk page or not. Anyway, have fun.

Watch the Sirl Point "Revive" location

I agree, this is getting ridiculous. I have long been making treks into the dangerous suburb of Dunningwood, overrun with zombies, attempting to heal and help out the survivors/MPD there. Well I finally was killed and seeing as revive points in Dunningwood are basically useless I came back up to Pescodside and just hung around Mermagen street. This place even has "revive point: Do not kill the zombies here" spraypainted on a wall, yet I have been headshotted twice. Come on kids, you don't have a syringe or want to waste the AP, fine. But is there any need to continually kill zombies who clearly aren't a threat to you and want to get on helping the effort? --Arachnia. (Shanny B)

This information is, in effect, incorrect.

Slain this morning, I move the few blocks to Sirl Point to be revived. Killed by a Zombie Hunter (Harliquin, or something similar). I have the AP, so I stand back up to await a revive. Instead, I'm killed again. Be careful out there, because Pescodside Humans don't respect revive points (and I suspect the same for Dulston, as Sirl is close to the border)--TastyMeatBag 18:54, 13 March 2006 (GMT)

  • Agreed. I admit that while I often visit the Waish Building I rarely help revive at Sirl Plaza. In the old days reviving there used to be common knowledge and people chatted about it, but I think the key problem these days is that it's next to Pegrum Place PD. Survivors, especially low-level ones, will attack any zombie they see as "fair game". The same thing happened to me when I was murdered and ended up at the Dead vs Blue revive point, a carpark in Dulston next to their HQ. The carpark is also adjacent to a PD and I had barely waited there an hour before I was attacked twice even though the carpark is tagged as a "REVIVE POINT" and warns against zombie hunting. Eventually I caught a break when I was live when one guy attacked me, I moved, he followed... and revived me. My suggestions? First choose a well-known revive point that is far from any PD and the mall. Second visit a survivor group TALK page and post a request to be revived. If you're killed in the meantime, post that too and advise them that if you cannot stand up. Also post your profile so they can recognize you as friendly and confirm no Brain Rot. If all else fails, contact me, as I stay at the mall and check the Wiki daily. If I spot you based on your profile I can confirm if that's you at Sirl Plaza and revive you. I really wish you could revive corpses... --Mobius187 9:42 AM, Mar 14 2006 (EST)
    • I have no idea who declared that a revive point, but it is not by the Sons of Korhal. We deliberately chose our revive point further from the mall and in between all 3 NT buildings so that any NT building can serve it. I will revive someone if I'm passing through Sirl and I see a zed there, but mostly, my main priority is to Mermagen Street which is after all a revive point declared by the group that my Pescodside character is in. Try moving further south to Mermagen Street (4 squares, 4 moves, 8ap max) for a revive if you need one. --Nov W!, Talk 01:59, 15 March 2006 (GMT)
      • Sirl Plaza was not declared a revive point by any group, but rather word of mouth. When I first came to Malton in December my survivor, Caleb Usher, stayed at the Waish Building and inside was a tag that stated: "Revive point at Sirl Plaza". Sirl Plaza was also back then tagged as a revive point, but I think this was all done for the NT building. Over time it's possible the tags were lost and people have stopped viewing it as a revive point. It's in a bad location too... as it's too close to the PD and that will lead to a higher rate of zombie hunting based entirely on the fact that most low-level survivors, and a few high-level ones, will jump for the easy XP even regardless of tags. While the proximity of Sirl Plaza to the Waish Building makes it very accessible, it's pointless if the zombies there get gunned down and/or ignored. Better to move the revive point or shut it down. --Mobius187 8:56 AM, Mar 15 2006 (EST)
        • I have read that Mermagen St is an RP, but have not see any zeds there. --Raystanwick 15:09, 6 June 2006 (BST)

Proposed Changes to Barricade Plan

Through the joint efforts of the BAR and the DEM, a different barricade plan has been developed for use in Pescodside, which takes into account the barricade plans of neighbouring suburbs, the Uniform Barricading Policy, and local considerations. The changes only affect the south western corner of the suburb, and the plan is the result of consolidating the original Wiki plan with the Burchell Arms Regulars' plan for the area surrounding the Burchell Arms.

I hope that everybody will appreciate this new plan, but it will be left up on this discussion page for a period of at least 1 week in order to allow other local residents to voice their opinions and make any further suggestions.

EDIT: Suggested changes to the plan by Dr. Guedner clearly have merit and have been implemented --Kolossov 15:13, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

  1. Well, the Waish Building's barricades are always maintained at Extremely Heavily (EHB), whereas the warehouse at 94, 13 is used as an entry point. I'd be grateful if you could change that on the plan.--Dr. Guedner 12:28, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Great Suburb Group Massacre 2010

All suburb wiki pages are undergoing a clean up to remove inactive groups from the group listing (see here: this suburb's groups). If you are a group currently listed in this suburb, you will be contacted on your group's talk page within the next few days and asked to reply, indicating that you are active in this suburb. Groups that fail to reply within two weeks of being contacted will automatically be removed from the suburbs where they are listed.

We're posting here in the hopes that more groups will be aware of the clean up and can respond appropriately, since our team does not have the time nor the manpower to seek out every group in-game or track down its group members elsewhere on the wiki. If you know that some groups in your suburb do not check the wiki, please be a good neighbor and let them know that they NEED to check it for this, or else they will be unlisted in the near future.

The wiki members coordinating the cleanup will be using the table below to track their progress in communicating with the various groups. Please do not edit it if you are not involved with The Great Suburb Group Massacre 2010 team.
