Vista

I've been around somewhat under half a year, made a couple of thousands edits. I haven't been in any significant leadership roles on the wiki, creating pages, standardizing content, etc, Although I've done a lot of those little regular tasks everybody does on the wiki, helping people, fixing small mistakes, etc. The majority of my time I've been active on the suggestions page, giving what I figure was well-thought out advice. The time spend on this wiki and the fact that I'm a member of most Wiki-user groups hopefully shows my commitment to maintaining the community.

I'm applying for modship because even with the people under consideration we are light on moderators. And because of the fact that I'm less experienced in the technical matters of the wiki, I'd focus more on the intra-personal aspects of moderatorship, checking up on the vandal page, patrolling suggestions, etc. I hope with my promotion to take some of that burden of the current active moderator team. In my time spend here on this wiki, I hopefully have shown a clear head, fair handed with a reasonable understanding of the rules and the level of maturity needed as a moderator Vista ^W! 13:21, 19 April 2006 (BST)

  • What Moderator duties do you see yourself focusing on, as a rule?
    • Besides all the regualar little maintance jobs a moderator has to do, My primary focus would be the more user interaction heavy parts of the wiki, the suggestions page, vandal banning, those sort of things. But as there is usually enough to do as a moderator, I wouldn't stop just there.
  • How do you react to criticism online?
    • I hope pretty well, I usually try to establish a dialog explaining why I did things they way I did them, I can be a little too verbose in those situations, leaving long patches of text, But I'm not above admitting when I am wrong, and I try to end the situation in a mutually agreeable conclusion.
  • What is your current attitude to the moderators, as a group?
    • I vouched for most of the current ones, and I haven't regretted it yet. It's a pretty good team.
  • Have you had any previous position of responsibility in any other online communities, and if so, elaborate?
    • I once was a moderator for a mirror of a university study site, it had about 25 users and lasted a whole month, before the main was back up, so.. no. Luckily I've had more responsible positions offline. Nothing really big, but including a couple of manager positions were I had to deal with the cohesion and conflict resolution of the group. But online, this whould be a first for me.
• Vista is a very good contributor to this wiki. His opinions are always thought out, and his reasoning well explained. Furthermore his contributions to discussions have always been valuable. • If there's one person on the wiki that should've been a mod some time ago it's Vista. I vouch for him. He's a good contributor, manages the wiki, and a very friendly person overall.
