Plaque Bite

Hello, do you follow the dissenter's math on the Plague Bite Suggestion? Also are they missing the there is an easy "cure" for this affliction, it is called "jumping out a window and getting revived" comment? --Contaminated 05:02, 23 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Templates

Let's see, you can easily make a template that can do things from changing the side text, picture, colour scheme contents, pretty much anything really. I'm assuming by the side text you mean that if a new Papa came along, you would want to make one edit to the template page which would then update on any page that template was included on. Would you like me to make a template for you to use? --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 21:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that would be wonderful, especially for me to see as an example. What confuses me is that I would not want the archived pages to change if we change the Papa etc for example. Can templates take variables? -MHSstaff 19:43, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the main idea behind a template. Adding a variable is simply putting a {variable} or {} in the template space, so when someone calls the template, say groupbox they need only enter what they want. For example, the code of MaltonLocated looks like this,
rowspan=2|
style="background:#565; color:white; font-size:86%; width:100%"|Where is Malton?
style="font-size:xx-small"|{Name} thinks that Malton is {Place}.

When someone calls the template by placing on their page, the parts where you put {Name} and {Place} (on the template page) come up as your variables, which you can then put whatever you like in the Name= and Place= spots. So with wanting to make the Papa a variable, on the template page you could add {Papa} where the Papa spot is on the sidebar. Then call the template and add the appropriate Papa. I'll make the template in a wee bit, any who.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:33, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

I think I understand now; that makes a lot of sense. Thank you! -MHSstaff 00:50, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Awesome

Har, that is damned groovy. Thankyou! Hugs for all :D --Karloth Vois ¯\(°_o)/¯ 13:21, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Lexicon Invovlement!

Welcome on board. Can you do us an initial favour?

Read Lexicon:Collaboration and find a word you think would make a good article? You don't need to write it, just pick the word.

Thanks. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 14:22, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Done. I made the cite and added it to the appropriate round. Looks like we still need four more people though --MHSstaff 15:18, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Brilliant, thanks, thats round one entirely completed. We still need four people, you're right.--RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:02, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Trying to introduce a random variable?

Entirely clueless I'm afraid. Your best bet is User:The Rooster --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 10:42, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

For the spelling! --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 20:47, 11 September 2010 (BST)

Your edits were solid. You still owe me a random-variable method btw. Where is that wiki-magic, bureaucrat? ;-p -MHSstaff 20:49, 11 September 2010 (BST)

RRF/Malton Herald & Sun articles

Hey there,

So i'm categorizing pages at the moment, and have noticed your articles appear out of thin air. I'm putting them all in Category:Group Subpages, but feel free to put them into another category if you wish. I'd really apreciate if you could add a tag to the start of all your future articles (or any other category you decide), as it makes my job easier =) Red Eyes-Dezonus-Red Eyes (talk) 01:59, 23 September 2010 (BST)

Merci. I didn't get around to it. Ideally, they would go in but this is a good start. -MHSstaff 03:41, 23 September 2010 (BST)

Better Know an Enemy

Dante Bosch of 404 here, just caught the message you left on our talk page regarding answering a list of questions that you would put to us, and thought I should reply saying we would be interested and willing to do so! Please feel free to send the list of questions to user 'Two Headed Sex Beast' on Barhah.com and we'll get back to you soon as we can! --BOSCH 19:39, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Excellent. It will probably take me a week or so to throw something together, and I'll send you a PM at Barhah. -MHSstaff 21:10, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

switch template

Hey MHS, you seem to have nailed the switch template with your Weather Templates. I was wondering if you could look at User:Vapor/sandbox/sandbox13 for me. I seem to have been thwarted by page caching once again and was wondering if you had any suggestions for bypassing it. I'd like to have a countdown of sorts. Basically hours and minutes until 23:59 AM using the CURRENTHOUR and CURRENTTIME magic words. Thanks. ~Vsig.png 17:03, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey thanks for the response. That's an excelent workarond to the page-caching issue. I may ditch the minute countdown and stick with days and hours. So I'm assuning the hidden text workaround needs to placed on the page on which the template is used and not the template itself, correct? ~Vsig.png 01:05, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I also just came across something that you might find interesting. There is a way to purge the cache of any wiki page through a URL hack. Just add &action=purge to the end of any URL on a wiki and it will force the most current version of the page to display. So you could do something like <span class="stealthexternallink">[ purge]</span> to create a link on a page that will purge it when clicked. Try it. ~Vsig.png 06:31, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
That's totally the solution. Amazing stuff. Well done! Well done indeed! That should open the doors to some interesting things. -MHSstaff 16:21, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
I thought you would like it. I went ahead and updated the scoreboard. I think it will work for my needs. I may even make a template that will make add a purge link when place on a page with parameters for page name, link name and link title. ~Vsig.png 16:30, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
Purge is now ready for use. ~Vsig.png 16:58, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Note: I am only semi-around until probably April/May so it might be a while until I get back to you. -MHSstaff 17:19, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Welcome

OMG! This is like a talk page apparently! You can use it to like talk and stuff, in like, the sections below this message, you know? I know, right! Like, if you could, please don't be all like "blah blah blah," which is like totally lame, and instead, if you could be like "blah blah blah" which is like HOTTEST EDIT EVER! TOTALLY!

Request

I guess I don't understand the problem? Do you need the main page edited? If so, it needs to go through requested edits on A/PT. Main Page looks ok to me, though. ~Vsig.png 19:20, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

It actually wasn't a sysop thing and I should have been a lot more specific. I was hoping you could look at it. But I think I figured it out. You have to have the inclusion thing in the template other it makes the header show up like this: ====Featured Articles==== on the main page. I wasn't sure how to do it but your example on the Queue page had the answer. -MHSstaff 19:30, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the speedy help with our page

Re-Those images-- I'm going to use one of them in my next article I write. But thanks for the heads up on the rule I was unaware of. I'll choose which one I like best & delete the other. Thanks! --Les Nessman 03:30, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

RE: Suburbgroups

I am serious about the At War With... grouping (as a 4th grouping, or maybe sub-grouping, to the existing "Survivor/Zombie/Hostile" groups). It would allow a more neutral classification for two or more fighting Groups which are intended to be on the same side. The Good Guys, Bad Guys, Griefers is tongue-in-cheek, though I admit I was struggling with "Good/Bad/Griefers" and "Haz Barhah (brainrotted pro-Zombie)/Haz Nah Barhah (ZKers)/Bra!nz (anything with a pulse)". And I am indeed Doctor Tom. --DTPraise KnowledgePK 20:23, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Poll

Hey let me know before you open the poll for NPOV SuburbGroups. I'm throwing around the idea of combining the two discussions (SuburbGroups and DangerMap) into one poll. I also sort of have a pretty good idea how the poll should be laid out per the poll guidelines I've been writing borrowing copying from wikipedia. ~Vsig.png 06:03, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

I'll throw up what I was thinking on a test page and then run it by you. -MHSstaff 17:47, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
