Suggestion description
Well the season (xmas) is going to roll in sooner or later, and I'm aware that trading is considered bad in the UD game, and I'm inclined to agree. But how about if we're allowed to give people Misc. Items that aren't considered as useful, mainly as a form of gratitude, things such as:
A.beer/wine (1 point hp isn't that big of a deal, also it'd be a reduced form of FAK's)
B.Books/poetry (if the xp is a problem they can either null the xp to 0 or only set it to POETRY BOOKS ONLY).
C.Decorative items(They have no real purpose besides decoration so why not give it to friends as well).
Or D. Crucifixes (which I don't really recommend but just have it in there as a thought, a "what the heck am I supposed to do with this" kinda deal)
To stop people from making you too heavy, you'll either have the option of accepting the gift (from a check box that says "accept all gifts", removing it would reject all gifts), OR players may not give the other person gifts if its over a certain percent, chosen by the player, if not possible a preset percentage like 85%.
I suggest that we insert this idea sometime over the December month, implement it longer if people like it enough, who knows. Also we should find some action for the zombies to give as a form of gratitude... i don't know, i don't want them feeling left out.
Giving items would cost 1 AP, and receiving wouldn't cost 0 or no points (cause we wouldn't want anyone exhausting all your points). Players can also add a message to the present (50 Charachters Max).
Example:
"Random_Player has given you a stuffed animal, "Happy Holidays""
"Al Coholic has given you a beer, "To another year of Survival!""
When trying to give to someone that is too encumbered or will not accept gifts a message would say (this would not remove ap):
"Soandso is not receiving gifts"
OR
"MR.man is too heavy to take items, or is reserving space for more important things"
Note: I removed this suggestion earlier today before a decision was made in order to clarify and add more detail since i wasn't being specific enough.

- keep - I would go further and make "mistletoe" findable in graveyard. A one shot item that enables its bearer to make a "christmas kiss" attack at 100%. Zombies causing infection is negotiable :) --Honestmistake 12:05, 3 October 2007 (BST)

- Keep - I'll personally have it turned off because I don't want people filling my encumberance, but I see no reason to prevent others from RPing with it. As for the argument that Christmas will lead to other holidays being added, remember that it's more a commercial holiday than a religious holiday to a lot of people now. (please don't start a flame war over that) --Howard Bentley 01:28, 4 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Interesting, but let's have a way to refuse presents as well, so as to not fill up our inventories. --Private Mark 03:25, 4 October 2007 (BST)

- Keep - All I want for Christmas is a torn European painting. Flavorful and interesting. Although admittingly if you're spending your time on Christmas day playing UD you need to reevaluate your life. --O'Sheehy 16:40, 7 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Good idea, what else can I say? -J. A. 16:30, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - It is a time of giving gifts to one another while zombies are rampaging everywhere. Hey, its a relief to terror. A+!--RUFIO! 04:31, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - But only if i can give my buddies a nice pair of wirecutters. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:48, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep/Change - Giving is a nice thing, but perhaps to quelm the fires below It might be an idea to just make it a flavour thing. Not acctually GIVE per say, but people can give and recieve flavourtext e.g. "Karth Salvage gave you a stuffed teddybear, merry Xmas!" without an acctual trade being made. -- Karth FoD 15:24, 17 October 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - Bad precedent?--Karekmaps?! 06:01, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Even if the items are useless on some level, this is still item transfer. Also, if we're going to celebrate christmas, are we going to eventually celebrate Yom Kippur, Ramadan, Channukah, the Solstice, etc etc? It's a zombie game, not a society with time for holidays.. --Pgunn 08:48, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Still don't like it. --Abi79 AB 15:02, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I still don't like it either, and I'm with Karek - this could set a dangerous precedent --Ryiis 17:01, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I don't like it either! It could be dangerous and why would you want some random crap anyways? --Paris V-W 17:32, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- RE As dangerous as getting beer from random people is I don't it will do much harm (no underage drinking laws in Malton..). I've set it to be non dangerous items and there is noone has actually come up with a dangerous situation (all the dangerous accusations I have replied a RE to, if you've noticed). Also random crap? When I get random crap for Christmas I'm always thinking "its the thought that counts", besides its from a friend its to show friendship.--Someguy5031 06:00, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Change - I liked the birthday gift thing better... Do not enscone specific religions in the game, keep it generic. If I choose my gifting day to be Xmas, that's my choice. And if I choose not to celebrate something I loathe, I don't have. Also, anyone who thinks that gift-giving and religious observations and other forms of "random human kindness" stop just because there's a war on... are nuts... and out of touch. I also want to my zombie to be able body parts wrapped in police tape to his survivor "buddies", i.e I don't like limiting it to useless in-game items, and it needs to be permitted across the breathing divide. --WanYao 09:11, 15 October 2007 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam Theres a reason Kevan didn't give us a 'give' option. Sockem 04:13, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- RE but it's only items that aren't incredibly helpful, what will zergers do when they farm a bunch of crucifixes and give them to one player? nothing. This is different than the other trading suggestions, its meant to give items that aren't as important but has a good connotation to it.--Someguy5031 04:36, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- RE Trading still trading. Sockem 09:11, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- RE The Main reason Kevan did not implement trading was to prevent people from using alts to horde useful items like ammo for the main person. This will not harm anyone. if someone grabs 50 beers for their main character and wastes 50 ap drinking it when they could've probably used that half amount to find and use actual FAK's then thats just idiocy.--Someguy5031 20:22, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- Decorative items are useful. They can be used to mark how long the building was alive. Since they are useful, time to spam.--ShadowScope 17:46, 3 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Also, zombies get 1 xp per decorative item smashed. I can imagine a scenario where a bunch of alts hand over a crapload of decorative items to one character, who puts them up, jumps out the window, stands up, then strolls back inside for easy (and gauranteed) xp. --Steakfish 04:24, 5 October 2007 (BST)
- RE Couldn't they just as easily (without wasting ap giving it to another guy) A.grab a bunch of items with their alts B.place them in one building. and C. use their main character to break the stuff? My idea doesn't even need to be used for this to work...besides 50 xp/ap destroying decorations could be better well spent killing other people for 3x as much xp.--Someguy5031 07:29, 5 October 2007 (BST)
