Thanks for the help with the MOB recruitment ad. I was going to do something like that, but my editing skills are very lacking. I showed it to Bisfan, and he says it looks great too. --FLZombie 02:02, 31 March 2011 (BST)
- Thanks but uhhh...I don't remember working on it. ~ 04:24, 31 March 2011
- Hmm. I wonder who did. I guess I misread the history folder or something. --FLZombie 07:15, 31 March 2011 (BST)
- Do you mean this history report? You might be looking for User:Smyg, then but I see his only contribution is categorizing the ad with Category:Recruitment. ~ 07:20, 31 March 2011
- I figured it out. Yes, Smyg did categorize it, but I was referring to the bulk of the editing. It was actually created a few years ago. We had somehow lost track of this page, and it had remained unused for a while. I just really suck at understanding histories. It has gotten me in trouble before, so I usually just avoid looking at them. Thanks anyway for the clarification. --FLZombie 20:41, 2 April 2011 (BST)

Orphanage
:) It isn't an actual orphanage message. (I'd certainly not use an internal link for it.) It's rather poking the troll with a pointy stick. -- Spiderzed▋ 14:44, 30 March 2011 (BST)
- Heh I figured. Considering he won't be able to come and link his own page anyway. But honetly I think a small yellow box at the top of the page letting everyone viewing it know it is an Orphan won't hurt. Maybe just maybe someone will care enough to link it somewhere. If not, well then I guess the yellow banner stays. ~ 14:50, 30 March 2011

Developing Events Workspace
Totally for the idea, not for the idea of DDR complaining about it. I'll see about mocking up something for us to improve on in the next few days, I'll have more time starting friday. Right now I think the major purpose of it should be developing event articles since those are actually developing content and not simply under construction pages(which should just have the template added). The difference being one doesn't have facts yet and the other obviously just needs work. --Karekmaps?! 08:41, 7 April 2011 (BST)
- Sounds good. I'll help when and where I can. I agree the focus should be on developing events. Maybe Developing Good Articles would be a worthwhile project in the future, though. Like Developing Guides but with a focus on helping people create/expand articles into general awesomeness. ~ 14:53, 7 April 2011
- I could actually swear that there is an underused area from a long time ago for general article development. --Karekmaps?! 16:25, 7 April 2011 (BST)
- Possibly UDWiki:Style Guide? What are your thoughts on namespace for developing events? I thought it might be good if it is attached to Current Events in some way, although that page is dismally underkept. Of course Developing Events would work just fine. ~ 07:25, 8 April 2011
- Like most developing pages, I believe we paste them on wiki news. Current events would be an alright portal for developing pages, maybe talk:current events, either way, as long as you put a notice on the main page, traffic and help will come regardless of how unkept the page is otehrwise. -- ϑanceϑanceℜevolution 11:14, 8 April 2011 (BST)
- Actually, I just noticed something in my ProjDev pages when I was about to make a new one to develop this in. I actually think we could potentially mutate that into something for this with little effort. Feel free to edit it in places you think it could use some more work to be better fit for this kind of thing(like with all my ProjDev stuff actually).--Karekmaps?! 04:44, 9 April 2011 (BST)
- That's pretty cool, man. I could see that turning to a hub for development pages such as Developing Suggestions, Developing Guides, Developing Events and Developing Good Articles and a multitude of other things like UDWiki:Projects, Technical Help, Wiki Questions and so on. Maybe through smart use of subpages and inclusions one could simply use this page to get an overview of things that are in development. I'll try to put some work into it. ~ 19:33, 9 April 2011

Wholesale spambit slaughter
You sir, are the bane of internetis spambiticus. Well done, sir. Well done.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 16:12, 8 April 2011 (BST)
- If you're ever in the mood for a good laugh, try clicking on the links in some of these spam pages (carefully of course. make sure you know where that link will take you). These recent spammers are using links to other wikis which they have sapmmed up, creating an endless loop of spamdexing links. If I really really wanted to fuck their shit up, I would just follow the links, blanking each wiki page as I went along. I sometimes wonder if there is a master program at the end, like if you I went through enough spammed wiki pages I would find MCP and destory him with light discs. End of line, MCP. End. Of. Line. ~ 16:29, 8 April 2011
- you.. go outside for a walk. -- The preceding signed comment was added by these amazing looking bitch 16:32 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know what I'm talking about, but clicking spammed links tells the spambots' command & control center that this wiki is active and full of people willing to click their links and maybe buy their junk, summoning an even greater spambot invasion. --VVV RPMBG 21:29, 9 April 2011 (BST)
- I don't really think that selling junk is the primary directive of the bots. They're trying to increase their client's page ranking on search engines like google by placing the link an any open channel on the internet possible. Wikis are at jeopordy since anyone can edit nearly any wiki page but blogs and other types of sites that allow comments from users are also at risk. They're trying to make it so that when someone does a google search on let's say "Jobs in Minnesota", one of the top results will be their own. Its called spamdexing. ~ 21:38, 9 April 2011
Crat elections
I was originally bound to vote for Mis, but with his pending demotion, that doesn't seem to be an option anymore. Checking the sys-op list and thinking about it, I think you would be the next best candidate - you act very level-headed, manage to remain neutral and enter drama only as much as necessary, which are IMHO the three key traits of a good crat. Would you be up for running in May? You'd be bound to receive my support. -- Spiderzed▋ 21:18, 10 April 2011 (BST)
- Spider and you are the only ones prominent enough to beat DDR, right now. Yon, not trusting one as inexperienced as you, will back DDR, and the other sysops will lack the influence to play major roles. I think you're more popular than Spider (due to your levelheadedness and centrism). With Spider behind you, you could stand a chance of beating DRR. I wouldn't count on it (though I am always willing to wager golden fiddles), since he's got so much more experience, and many of the less-active voters will remember his productivity without having seen yours. But if DDR is to be evicted, you're the guy to do it. --VVV RPMBG 22:05, 10 April 2011 (BST)
- As always, I'll back Red, and should he not receive enough support, I'll most likely change to DDR, also as usual. I'd assume I'll also leave my name on the ballot unless it becomes a close race between two candidates. (Once again as I always do). If DDR decides not to run, I'll go to Boxy (who I'd bet is more likely to take down DDR than Vapor) and then Vapor after Boxy.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:08, 10 April 2011 (BST)
- You've also got to consider historic association, where boxy has a lot of pull, plus my vote which will swing the whole election. I'm thinking thad. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 22:09, 10 April 2011 (BST)
- I wouldn't be completely closed to the idea but certainly there are better candidates were they willing to run. Unless DDR intends not to run then boxy comes to mind first. If Red were more active he'd be a great crat. ~ 22:18, 10 April 2011
- DDR has exceeded my expectations, and I can definitely imagine him running unopposed. But I don't understand this hubbub about Boxy. If you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you. Now, you've made a pretty good sysop, boy, but give a layman his due. I bet a fiddle of gold against your soul, that boxy won't win the election. --VVV RPMBG 22:33, 10 April 2011 (BST)
- If DDR doesn't run, Boxy will win the election. There are 3 crats on this wiki; Ross, DDR and Boxy. If DDR runs, it'll be fairly tight, but Boxy's been a bit inactive, so he probably won't win. If DDR doesn't win, almost all of his votes will drop on to Boxy.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:37, 10 April 2011 (BST)

- That's what the election is for though. To see what the majority wants. You're probably right but you can't make that call a month before the election begins. ~ 23:00, 10 April 2011
- Too bad that Vapor won't run. I might have to run myself then, in order to create any illusion of democracy on UDWiki, assuming that Boxy will withdraw once more early. (And while I think that I have some popularity, I'm probably far too opinionated to sway any majority.) -- Spiderzed▋ 23:02, 10 April 2011 (BST)

- Iscariot had a similar one (may still have it as his sig). I found them troublesome, because the only way you can check who made the comment, is to check the history, or click on the link. We should be able to tell, just by mouseovering the link, who made a comment. Some wiki gurus have found a way around it, I think, so that mouseovering the image shows a link to the userpage. I don't think anyone bothered to send Iscariot, or anyone else, to A/VB for it though -- boxy talk • teh rulz 12:50 16 April 2011 (BST)
- Basically, the arguement is that a link to your user page is required in your sig. A redirect from an image page doesn't exactly fit the criterian. It's not a problem when it's obvious who's sig it is (ie. if the image spells out the name, or a close approximation), but it has the potential to be used to be intentionally misleading -- boxy talk • teh rulz 12:53 16 April 2011 (BST)
