"Bad Faith Vote?"
If you believe that the vote was seriously in bad faith then take it to A/VB. If not then shut up. You are welcome to your vote and opinion on whether or not the policy should be implemented but don't try to scare people with baseless accusations.--The General T Sys U! P! A/VB
I noticed again that you removed a sysops ruling. Could you please leave a note that said Op ruled one way or another? I thought I was seeing things when I suddenly noticed Hag's ruling disappeared. :/ --Suicidal Angel - Help needed? 16:39, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Bugger, didn't notice that in his comment. I'll just replace the whole convo - one comment + reply isn't enough to justify removing a ruling and leaving a note doesn't really go far enough IMO. --Cyberbob 17:12, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks.--Suicidal Angel - Help needed? 19:14, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

It's hardly subtle Cyberbob, and I'm not afraid to say it. I also wanted to say good job on the A/VB cleanup, I am actually surprised and impressed with the current effects your cleanups had on the current system. I didn't think it would last but the cases are cleaner and spam on the article page is rarer now. Gj. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 12:13, 31 March 2009 (BST)

Image redirect as a sig
I see it as a violation of the sig policy. I know it redirects to your user page, but unless there's a direct link to your user page, we can't guarantee that the redirect wont be changed or the image deleted anytime in the future -- boxy talk • teh rulz 12:49 1 April 2009 (BST)
- I could have it protected; that would prevent the redirect from being changed. As for the other... that's incredibly unlikely as I would be keeping my sig in this form for a long time. --Cyberbob 13:03, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- It fails this policy for two reasons. The link provided in it does not link to your userpage, it links to another page and is then redirected to your userpage. It is also in breach of the height restriction. As your sig is not templated it will also make it impossible for a user unaware of this fiasco to know which user signed the edits that you do during this time. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 13:11, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- You assume a lot about the outcome of this scenario. I acknowledge that the image is too big and will fix that right away, but the policy says nothing whatosever about redirects. Nice try. --Cyberbob 13:14, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- No, it doesn't, but scheduled deletions has a lot to say about user redirects in the main space. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 13:17, 1 April 2009 (BST)

- Images arn't in the main namespace -- boxy talk • teh rulz 14:18 1 April 2009 (BST)
- Why not just use coding like [[User:Cyberbob240|[[Image:Smug.gif]]]] or template it so it's obvious whose sig it is by the code on the page -- boxy talk • teh rulz 14:18 1 April 2009 (BST)
- Tried the first of these in preview, didn't work (neither did the countless other combinations I tried). Templating it... nah. Don't worry about it, I'm good with things the way they are. Cyberbob 14:20, 1 April 2009 (BST)
It's actually very easy. Unfortunately, like so many other things, it doesn't work on this wiki. This would be the code:
<span class="plainlinks">[http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Cyberbob240 http://wiki.urbandead.com/images/0/08/Smug.gif]</span>
This part refuses to show up as an image, rather it just links:
http://wiki.urbandead.com/images/0/08/Smug.gif
The only other alternative will not work for signatures, because it requires it to be fixed somewhere on the page. -- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 17:50, 1 April 2009 (BST)

- Here's a version that works with indentation and stuff around it, but I can't get rid of the empty space after the image, and I don't think it'd work properly with non-rectangular images. Maybe someone else can finish the job. Here you can see it in action. --Midianian¦T¦DS¦SP¦ 19:21, 16 April 2009 (BST)

Arbies vandalism
Don't want to get into an edit war so I will just ask you to put the note back for at least 24 hours. Your move was a sensible one but I think it is a question worthy of discussion and given the reason the case was found to be Vandalism it is certainly relevant to the sysop chat that followed it. --Honestmistake 14:06, 9 July 2009 (BST)

Could you do me a favour and move my A/VB warning to my user page. I want to keep it and can think of no one better to do the honours... think of it as a good will gesture :) --Honestmistake 17:11, 18 July 2009 (BST)
- There's no rule that says you can't do it - if you wanted to you could just outright delete it even - as the only purpose the thing posted on people's talk pages serves is to let them know about what's happened, but sure. --Cyberbob 17:13, 18 July 2009 (BST)
- Actually on second thoughts I think it would be best if I didn't. I'm trying to avoid doing anything that might be even vaguely controversial until I can get back some measure of goodwill from people. Sorry. --Cyberbob 17:17, 18 July 2009 (BST)
- Its hardly controversial if I ask you to do it now is it? I will even leave an edit there to make it clear that I asked you to do it. When I say call it a good will gesture I mean it. I will give you the benefit of the doubt over your motives and we can move on without ill will. Hell I will try to anyway ;) --Honestmistake 17:22, 18 July 2009 (BST)

Fixing some weird formating
Hey there, I'm asking you about this because you seem to have a lot of experience with A/VB and such (don't take that the wrong way) and I don't want to do something which could be interpreted as vandalism.
The area in question is the suburb of Stanbury Village. Where some of the buildings link to a fucked up page which lists a bunch of buildings by category. For example, clicking on the_Sprackett_Building on the suburb map actually leads to a redirect which brings you to Stanbury_Village_Buildings#the_Sprackett_Building.
I've seen this kind of formatting in other suburbs and it seems really annoying, since it essentially breaks the ability to treat the suburb map like a map and "walk around" the town by clicking on neighboring buildings as you go. So, my question - (long winded) do you think its okay for me to "fix" the formatting so that each building has it's own page with a mini map in the corner?
Thanks.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 01:00, 19 August 2009 (BST)
- You're in absolutely no danger of being accused of vandalism over something like that. I do suspect that there is a reason many building entries are set up like that, however - you might want to ask someone with a little more experience in dealing with them about whether giving them all their own pages is a good idea. Boxy, maybe, or DDR? Cyberbob Talk 02:00, 19 August 2009 (BST)
- Thanks for the good info CB. I've just received a message from ddR and it looks like I'm good to go. If there were ever any problems with it I suspect a new policy discussion could determine which format the majority of wiki users prefer. Laters.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 02:11, 19 August 2009 (BST)
- I'm 99% sure the policy was changed last year or maybe earlier so that every location should have its own page. I'd encourage you and anyone to help keep this in place by making the appropriate changes to links etc.--Nallan (Talk) 08:49, 19 August 2009 (BST)
- It was changed. All pages should have their own name page and coordinate page. That was one of the projects I was working on. (Unmerging locations) Most of them have their own pages which act as a redirect, but Stanbury was one of the places that doesn't. Thank you, Giles, for helping out. --– Nubis NWO 08:53, 19 August 2009 (BST)
- Yeh thanks for all the feedback. It's good to know that you guys care enough to pass along the relevant info on these kinds of things. I can see that the unmerging of Stanbury will take a while but I'm getting the hang of it now.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 09:30, 19 August 2009 (BST)
- Part of the problem we have on here is when a rule or guideline is changed it is sometimes hard to track down every place it is listed and update it. So you get conflicting sources of information. With a history wipe it makes it even worse. --– Nubis NWO 22:57, 22 August 2009 (BST)

Fixing a protected article
First of all, congratulations on your recent promotion. I wonder if you could use your newly acquired powers to fix a very poorly written article that regular users are unable to edit.
Specifically, in UDWiki:Administration/Arbitration Guidelines, if you scroll to the bottom of the page you will find an Arbitration Issues and Censorship section. They abound with grammatical and spelling errors. I did a rewrite in in my sandbox. Can you do a copy paste job to fix the arbitration guideline? --GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 21:18, 26 June 2009 (BST)

Garr Knock it off
Look dude, sorry I voted against your sysop bid. Now, the reason I did is because of just this kind of bullying/wiki lawyering. In this case I'm referring to the vote on my civility guide, and your ominous threat and action to strike votes for meatpuppetry.
I would like to appeal to you to 1)knock it off and 2) define your criteria for meatpuppetry and why you think I'm engaging in that. I will admit to not being versed in the nuanced mazery (made that word up) of the wiki here but it seems meatpuppetry would be asking my dad to register here and support my opinions.
I've not done anything of that sort nor acted in bad faith and I would like to suggest to you that you are being silly. Agree?--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 16:30, 7 July 2009 (BST)
- hahahahahahaha what a fuckup you seriously think this is about you voting against my bid? dude I didn't even know that until you just told me and I still couldn't care less.
I'm doing this because going onto other sites and getting people to vote on something that likely wouldn't have otherwise is more or less purposely defeating the whole point of having the vote in the first place. If everyone went around doing it then the outcome of votes would become as explicitly about popularity as it is possible to be. I'm sorry that your guide might get knocked back because I'm not letting you subvert democracy (actually I'm not). --Cyberbob 16:40, 7 July 2009 (BST)
- Okay, then at least clearly define your criteria for meatpuppetry. If you're going to strike votes for doing "x" you should be willing to say what "x" is.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 16:46, 7 July 2009 (BST)
- "x" is voting on something due to being asked to/having your attention drawn to it on another site. I thought I already made that fairly clear? --Cyberbob 16:48, 7 July 2009 (BST)
- How can you prove it was on another site?--Thadeous Oakley 16:55, 7 July 2009 (BST)
- See DDR's talkpage. --Cyberbob 17:00, 7 July 2009 (BST)
Okay, thank you for defining meatpuppetry. Now we're getting somewhere. I want you to understand that your definition does not match the prevailing use of the term "meat puppet". I will direct you to the pertinent wikipedia entry. And furthermore, there does not seem to be even a consensus among the sysops as to what constitutes meatpuppetry. However, clearly the spirit of the term "meat puppet" is getting a new member to join the wiki solely for the purpose of backing up a particular point. This is not the case with my fellow teammates. You don't appear to have any active characters and so you may not appreciate the relationship shared by normal wiki users who both play the game and contribute to the wiki.
We normal users establish relationships in-game and on forums and add to the wiki as a result of game play. When the dead marched, Nuabreed of the SWA wrote his article on rat tactics in response. We learned of it through our forums and read it on the wiki. As a result of my forum knowledge I voted on his excellent article when it came up for review.
The same process gave rise to civility. As the "good guys" CAPD refers to the civility guide, and we practice it with our interactions among other players, both PKer and zed. It's fine if the article gets shot down by people who hate the idea of civility or who find my writing to be "stupid dross", but understand that I feel positively about it and am acting reasonably to tell my group about an ongoing vote pertaining to an article that they probably also support. So I have nothing to hide on this matter.
This follows the normal process by which many users move between the game, their forums, and the wiki. I'm not here to "subvert democracy", and the fact that you would claim to defend it is laughable when this wiki has no written code of laws and the votes of wiki users are ignored when "electing" their "leaders". As an example, take your recent successful promotion bid, with 20 against and 16 vouches. You are no paragon of democratic virtue and this is not some attempt on your part to defend the free people of wikidom. On the contrary you are acting like a petty bureaucrat, and it is precisely this kind of bullying and mine-field-laying that so many normal users feel frustrated by. Please abandon your antagonistic behavior and set a more positive example, regardless of how you feel about me or my article.
In response, feel free to go ahead and dismiss me with your typical wit and vulgarity, however I want you to know that I've chosen my words carefully and I am not criticizing you out of spite or disrespect, but rather based on what I perceive to be a disturbing pattern of insincerity and abuse. --GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 00:23, 8 July 2009 (BST)
- --Mr. Angel, Help needed? 00:34, 8 July 2009 (BST)
- I'm just going to chime in and say I voted no not because I "hate civility," but because your self-plugging should be unnecessary and because I don't think civility is required or should even be encouraged. Like civility? That's all well and good. I like civility. I don't like the idea that people have to be civil every minute of every day and that you should encourage people to be civil. Hell, you shouldn't even have to encourage people to be civil. A simple guide isn't going to change someone's view of it, only the how, if anything at all. --Bob Boberton TF / DW 00:29, 8 July 2009 (BST)
- I voted "Fuck No" because I don't feel like this guide should be placed in front of other guides, But in all honesty not everyone in UD will play this game with the best of their breath at the tip of their tounge, so other players will get what they serve. As for a a guide, I don't think you can make a %100 correct guide on how to be civil because even some of the suggestions you put on that page were, eh, not tastefull and could be taken in bad light. Heck not saying anything at all to certain zeds before killing them can make them mad, it makes me feel like im not even worth a "fuck you zombie" or "eat my cornhole zed", i mean i would love to at least see somthing there to brighten my day.--Bonghit420 00:41, 8 July 2009 (BST)

Porn Issues...
Hey Bob, you know the porn issue you've been taking up with the community? Frankly, I find the Prosser Prosse page to be a lot more offensive than any of the stuff you put up.... which is why I'm bringing it to your attention. Don't we have a policy on neutrality here? -Poodle of doom 01:52, 10 August 2009 (BST)
- It doesn't seem that bad to me, but if you find it offensive there's nothing stopping you from putting it up for deletion. Cyberbob Talk 03:10, 10 August 2009 (BST)
- Didn't say it was offensive to me neccessarily. It's just that I'd find it more offensive than some of the stuff. I like your suggetion though. -Poodle of doom 21:25, 10 August 2009 (BST)
Got another one. I just put it up for deletion,.... because no one wants to see someone grabbing their Krotch. Image:Krotch.jpg -Poodle of doom 02:05, 11 August 2009 (BST)
Rather important quetion,....
I was wondering if there is anyway to have my account deleted from the wiki, and all my contrabutions removed from it as well without having to speedy delete everything, wasting a whole bunch of time, and effort, both on my part,... and the wiki/moderators part? I'm not feeling so welcome on this community, and am currently thinking about leaving,... and with all my contrabutions. How's that sort of thing work? -Poodle of doom 05:02, 12 August 2009 (BST)
- Impossible. You can delete your user page and your talk, but we can't erase your contributions and we can't erase the account. If you ask me, you shouldn't worry about feeling unwelcome, I don't think it is the case and personally, I like having you around. If you feel things aren't working out you can just have a break, or leave, lots of users end up doing it. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 05:08, 12 August 2009 (BST)
- I have another quetion then. This wiki is a cess pool compared to it's once glorious state. There's a whole lot of "F_ _ _ This!", "F_ _ _ _ That!", quite a few "Suck my D_ _ _!"'s floating around out there. Frankly. I don't mind a little bit of language here and there. In fact, I believe some of it can be useful (if used correctly). At that though.... I take a bit of an issue with it floating around so redily. I absolutly detest it being directed at anyone so negitivly, and actually being used as a dirogitory curse to someone. I must ask this,... what can be done to remedy this situation? I thought we used to have some sort of Neutrality clause for our posts, and wiki article? When did this decey? And can we come up with something like this again, to improve the state of our once humble wiki? -Poodle of doom 23:12, 12 August 2009 (BST)
- I find your spelling detestable. So sort it the fuck out. Also this wiki has always been drenched in swearing and abuse. It's called the internet.--xoxo 01:00, 13 August 2009 (BST)
- I couldn't tell you to whom I said this before,... but you really shouldn't mock a dyslexic on his spelling. It's kind of hard when everythings all jacked up asstard. -Poodle of doom 01:35, 13 August 2009 (BST)
- Well don't complain about other peoples language. I only have a problem about the way you write when you complain about the way i do.--xoxo 02:05, 13 August 2009 (BST)
I really really doubt you'll be able to get any kind of civility policy passed, Poodle. If you want people to leave you alone your best bet is to take them to Arbitration. Cyberbob Talk 02:56, 13 August 2009 (BST)
- Let me just say, I welcome you here poodle. For what it's worth. And I too am disturbed by the belligerent language people direct at each other. However it is worth noting that objections to vulgarity and attempts at censorship usually result in an adverse opposite reaction. For example, see J3D's immediate response to your complaint, and the people who vote to "keep" those images. Streisand effect anyone?
- Anyways, I would encourage you to stick to your principles and your guns and resist the urge to call someone an asstard (it weakens your argument). If you want to make a positive difference, you can do it by keeping a cool head and using your best reasoning to demonstrate the superiority of your positions.
