20070525 Aphabetize Names In Target Menu

-Captain Leah- 02:36, 25 May 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
Improvement

Suggestion scope
Everyone

Suggestion description
A simple suggestion- alphabetize names in the target menus. It's annoying when I try and heal someone, say Ron Burgandy, and I can't find his name of the effing list. Can we please just alphabetize it? It'd save so much time!

Keep Votes

  1. Keep - Helps out a lot. As a response to Shadow's vote, does it really matter who the zombie is attacking? I mean, a harman is a harman, killing harman A is no different from killing harman B. If a zombie is in the room, a survivor is most likely going to attack it, not just watch it beat up the other one and search for pistol clips. --04:51, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Keep - There is no reason why not. --User:Axe27/Sig 05:04, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  3. Keep - Handy for when you're looking for that special Pker --Crabappleslegalteam 01:21, 5 June 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. I understand your pain, but that's what that buddy list is for. Besides, it will prevent zombies from attacking the most active user on the list, so I have to disagree with this.--ShadowScope 03:38, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - As Shadow said. --Fippe 05:33, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill As above. Sorry.--Seventythree 08:32, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill it dead! Too much of a boost to survivors, for the reasons ShadowScope gave. Just add him to your contacts.--Priz 08:52, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - A more logical way of organising the list would be on health points. That way both killers and healers get a boost. As to finding a specific person, if they're not on your contact list, then try searching the page for their name. In firefox at least, it will find the link up the top first, and then their name in the drop down menus -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 09:00, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - As boxy above. --JudeMaverick W! TJ! Talk Zzz... P! 09:29, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - The current default top target is the "longest inactive" - which is generally the one you want to kill (or heal), because they have the most AP stored up, and hence the most potential to do something. If you want to find a specific target, open the drop down and then type in the first couple letters of their name- it will automatically select them. I do it all the time- using the mouse to select from a drop down menu is for chumps! --Seb_Wiers VeM 12:43, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  8. They said it all...look at the above votes. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 13:21, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill - Hint: Typing the first letter of an item in a list will take you to that item. In a case where many people have a name starting with the same letter, simply type it until you reach the one you are interested in. If there are client-side mechanics for doing something, there is no need to change the servers. --Saluton 14:23, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill there are many ways to order the list and plain alphabet is far from best. Plus what ShadowScope and boxy said --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 16:01, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - ShadowScope is right about this one. Although it does sound like a good idea at first, doesn't it. --Rgon 22:07, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - Sorry, but I like boxy's idea better. --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 22:55, 25 May 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - Big no-no. Almost as bad as sorting people via their health level or something. Maybe resubmit with only survivors see alphabetical listings? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 02:24, 26 May 2007 (BST)
  14. Kill - Perhaps making it possible to change it according to your own preference. and limiting it to certain dropdown menus. Say the syringe and FAK menu.--Vista +1 15:09, 27 May 2007 (BST)
  15. Kill - Decreases the ammount of info you get from the list: currently the less active players are at top and the most recently active at the bottom: if we alphabetize it then we lose that info. You could make it a choice on the profile settings though. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 22:30, 1 June 2007 (BST)
  16. Kill - As above. --Sonofagun18 11:03, 2 June 2007 (BST)
  17. Kill - Very discriminatory against people with the name "Aaa_Aapple" --Charley C. 18:05, 4 June 2007 (BST)
  18. VERY STRONG KILL -Several times I have been in a building that was broken into but survived, look at my username, do you think I would support this? names should have no effect whatsoever. Seriously, we aren't talking about NPC's here, if you were a harman, it would very much matter who the zeds attacked. If this was implemented we would have mobs of zombie spy huters saying "he joined after the alphabatizing and his name dosen't beging with zzz, he must be a zombie spy, and if he isn't. at least the harmans aren't losing a very smart person!" and also this would effect revivers as well, "this guy is either an idiot or a would-be spy." --AlexanderRM 02:32, 6 June 2007 (BST)
