Talk:Dead vs Blue
Please Read Me First!
Welcome, I know you came here in the hopes of contacting the leadership of Dead vs Blue (DvB), but I should point out an important fact. We don't come here that often. In fact, if you truly wanted to contact the DvB then you should instead contact us by posting on our section of the Dulston Alliance forum. The link to that forum section can be found here. Please use it and improve your chances for a response.
However, should you still choose to post here then please post in a relevant section and always post the newest topics at the top of each section. That way we know where to look for them.
Generic Topics
If you read the section headers and either they don't meet your requirements or you're unsure where to post, then this is the place for you. We can always shift things around later.
There's only one rule here. Newest posts always go at the top of the section. Simple, right? You would be surprised.

The following page(s) were orphaned, meaning they weren't linked from any other page on UDWiki. For house-keeping's sake, we are adding the link onto the relevant talk page. If you don't want the pages anymore just post them on the Deletions Page. You aren't required to do anything, but we'd appreciate if it you kept the link on any one of your pages.
Please note that the link provided below will not remove the page from Orphaned Pages, so you'll still need to manually make a link for us. Thank you. |

The Great Suburb Group Massacre
Group Active? Request. | |
In order to maintain the wiki as an up to date source of information groups are occasionally removed from the Suburb pages when they are no longer active. Is this group still active? If so simply confirm here by writing something below. If not it will be removed from suburb pages in 14 days. |
Currently the suburb in question is Dulston but one response to this query will be all that is needed to protect your group link on all suburb pages. I know this is a may seem a stupid request but its for all groups regardless of size. Thank you. --Adavastor 11:23, 30 July 2008 (BST)

- The listing on the UD Stats webpage has since indicated there are at least 10 active members at this time. As such I am restoring the group's icon/name to the suburb wikipage. --Mobius 13:28, 28 August 2008 (BST)

New Groups for the Dulston Alliance?
Hey guys, I figured since the DvB was one of the founding member groups of the Dulston Alliance I would ask you guys whether anyone is minding the store. Or maybe it's just an impression I got. It seemed to me that the DA group page wasn't seeing a lot of discussion of late, and there are a few outstanding group applications there. As such, I wanted to ask whether any of those groups were being considered for admittance into the DA, or if not, then at least as allies (I did create an "DA Ally" template after all). Part of the reason for my asking is due to the fact that the DA has been "slimmed down" lately and I wonder how much farther it will go (since I question whether The Last Stand or FOXHOUND are still around, at least in the NE Corner). Let me know, as I would like to see the DA group section re-grouped, and maybe move a few groups from "Other Survivor Groups" under the DA section in Dulston. --Mobius187 February 16th, 2007, 9:41 AM (EST)
Wiki Updates
Hey guys, it's been a while, but I'm back. Long story short, I helped update your wiki page, but I did it in stages so if you don't like something I did feel free to undo it. Still I think I made some overall improvements and I wanted to let you guys know since you wanted a "timestamp" on all changes. As for me, I'm updating most of the wikipages in Dulston, so feel free to check them out. My favorite so far is St. Barbara's Church, because those images took more time to create than as a man I feel comfortable letting anyone know. :P
FYI, I didn't update your member section because it strictly stated only DvB members could touch it, and I respect that. My advice is perhaps splitting it into active members and past/historical members... maybe even add some achievements for past members explaining where they "died" (if they've left UD or that character for good) or where they moved on to (if they left DvB). Just a suggestion. --Mobius187 January 29th, 2007, 9:10 AM (EST)
- EDIT - No response? Ah well, just an FYI, I have since updated the Dulston Alliance group page. If you guys feel like it be sure to check it out. I think you guys will like the new logo for the DA. --Mobius187 February 11th, 2007, 4:11 PM (EST)
- Mobius187, I want to say thank you for all of your hard work on all of the northeast corner suburb pages and its group member pages (like Dead vs Blue). I am amazed at all that you have done, especially the Dulston Alliance page. The logo is fantastic, and the new colors with the sub pages works wonderfully. Thank you very much. Your work is greatly appreciated. -- Cheeser, DvB|DA 04:42, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. Then I suppose it wouldn't be surprising if I mentioned that the DvB wikipage had caught my eye as the next "target for assimilation", so to speak. Other than current news there really hasn't been much traffic going on there. I know I should wait for permission before starting, but considering how well received my past work has gotten I'll jump right in. Here's me hoping you guys like what I'll be doing. :) --Mobius187 February 14th, 2007, 12:42 PM (EST)
- Done. I hope you guys like it. --Mobius187 February 14th, 2007, 12:42 PM (EST)

- I meant to get on this sooner. My old DvB logo for the suburb is "lacking", but I ran a test and scaled this one down to 25px and it still looked good, well, once I ran some edits to clip away the excess white along the edges. Of course I'm at work now and MS Paint is not Photoshop. I'll wait until I get home and then I'll edit this image to act as the new DvB suburb thumbnail logo, overwriting my old image (just in case you guys still want this one at full size). --Mobius187 February 16th, 2007, 12:21 PM (EST)

War on The End
Since Dead vs Blue created the Dulston Alliance I figured I would ask you guys as to the official word on this matter. As you are aware The End has declared war on the D.D.D.S, and FOXHOUND appears keen to fight The End too. Would you therefore consider that the Dulston Alliance has declared war on The End? Feel free to post an official statement on the suburb Wiki for Dulston. --Mobius187 1:26 PM, Mar 6th 2006 (EST)
- Oh, rather than start another new topic, I wanted to mention something. I noticed that you have your members listed as "Dead vs Blue" in the group affiliation, but the group's Wiki page is "Dead Vs Blue". As funny as this may seem the stat-tracking is case sensitive, so it's not recognizing this site with that spelling. As a minor countermeasure I've created a redirect... but I'm seriously wondering that may have broken the stat-tracker (errr... oops). I would therefore propose you consider moving your Wiki from it's current name to "Dead vs Blue" (a fairly simple matter, just refer to the tabs at the top of the screen). I would do it myself, but this isn't my page and I wouldn't feel right about messing around with something as important as that. Anyway, let me know and I'll fix all the links in the Dulston Wiki that will be broken by such a name change. No prob. --Mobius187 3:09 PM, Mar 6th 2006 (EST)
Map Suggestion
As I'm not in your group I thought I would post this suggestion here. I noticed you have a map of Dulston on your group page and currently you are adding player names to each location. Of course even now the map is starting to distort. Might I suggest that you place numbers (# tag) next to each member's name on your roll call and then have them place/move their number from one location to the other (i.e. PlayerA is listed as #24, so he adds '24' under Pegrum Place PD beside #5 and #9, so it reads: "5,9,24"). In that way you can have dozens of players in a square and not distort the grid as much. --Mobius187 1:44 PM, 27 Feb, 2006 (EST)
- I noticed that you had opted to use the number system I suggested above, but I thought I would help you out by employing the Wiki numeric tags. In this way each new members has only to include the # sign before their name and it will automatically add them to the list (no need for them to find out their number). I have clearly noted with 2 Edit changes I made, so if you are unhappy with them you can easily revert to the previous version in the History tab. If you are happy with them let me know and I'm more than willing to convert all the current member names on your map into their numeric values (I just didn't want to do it right away since I wasn't sure if you liked what I had done). Let me know. --Mobius187 6:34 PM, 28 Feb, 2006 (EST)
- Correction, I made 3 edits on your group page, as I noticed your instructions for adding members to the map referred to the old "post your name" method, when you've now switched to using numbers. --Mobius187 6:48 PM, 28 Feb, 2006 (EST)
- I was considering your map some more and wanted to propose a further idea, but one that will take some more work and probably can't be implemented right away. As you know currently the numeric system lets you record more members per block without causing as much destortion as it did with their full names. And yet to coordinate you would need to scroll back and forth between the list and the map. While not exactly terrible I have a possible idea. If each player could create a very minimal user Wiki page named after their character, then they could use that to create these tags:
Living Player = #50
Zombie Player = #50
Dead Player = #50
::As you can tell by hovering over the number it displays the user name (or in your case it would need to be the character name), but in this way you can list every player by number and then hover your cursor over those numbers to see who it is without needing to read the member list. --Mobius187 8:26 PM, 1 Mar, 2006 (EST)

- I see that you like my idea. On that topic I suggest that perhaps you not wait for each member to make a Wiki page for their character, but rather make one for them. It's a fairly simple matter. I suggest the following steps:
1. Create a Wiki page using the player's character name (i.e. Mobius187 uses Caleb Usher, so the page would be called "Caleb Usher").
2. On the Wiki page add something like the following text:
<name> is a proud member of the Dead Vs. Blue survivor group located in Dulston. Together we are working hard to rid Malton of the zombie menace.
3. Save the Wiki page, and voila, the player can edit it further as need be, or you can leave it as a placeholder. If they do wish to edit further might I recommend using a template similar to my own (refer to my profile for Caleb Usher... just maybe not writing as much as I did).
Now you can reference the player's name, and since there is a valid Wiki page it will be a blue link (blue meaning "alive" for your map). To create dead or zombie, both "bad" states for your group members, just edit the tag (previous post) to show Zombie or Dead in the link and since you've now linked to a non-existent Wiki page (i.e. "Caleb_Usher_Zombie") the link will be red. Obviously these links are not really meant to be used as links, although they can be for living survivors obviously. The key aspect is being able to hover over the player number on the map and seeing their name. --Mobius187 12:39 PM, 2 Mar, 2006 (EST)

Added DvB to Dulston Groups
Just letting you guys know that I added us to the groups on the Dulston wiki page. --Larith 22:31, 24 February 2006 (GMT)
- I hope you guys don't mind, but I added a small "group icon" for your group listing in Dulston. I think it's simple and to "the point", but feel free to replace it. --Mobius187 6:50 PM, 24 Feb, 2006 (EST)
- Works for me. --Larith 10:38, 25 February 2006 (GMT)
- Also, if you guys want to lay claim any building in Dulston as your own headquarters, let me know and I'll add a Wiki page for it. There are a lot of buildings no one has claimed yet (to my knowledge) since it's all just "word of mouth"... and spraypaint. I noticed that most of you guys were listed as being in Weston Crescent Fire Station, but I won't assume that's your base unless you say it is. Anywho, I would like to add some more detail to any of Dulston's buildings by affiliating your group with 1 or more of them. --Mobius187 10:07 PM, 25 Feb, 2006 (EST)
- To answer your question Larith, there are only 5 buildings that could be considered to have claims to them, or at least that I'm aware of:
1. Stembridge Crescent Fire Station - claimed by Malton Fire Department.
2. Weston Crescent Fire Station - claimed by Malton Fire Department.
3. Parrott Towers - claimed by FOXHOUND.
4. Treweeke Mall - Actually 3 groups claim to be based in the mall, and no one group owns it.
5. St. Barbara's Church - No group owns it, as churches are often open to all survivors.
While nothing says you can't claim a resource building as your own, and in certain ways it helps, survivors sometimes frown upon groups who claim ownership of a resource building. That's not to say you can't make one your own, but enforcing barricade standards or kicking survivors out (on threat of death) might be considered much. I suppose it all comes down to what you plan to do.
If you want my opinion, if you plan to control zombie activity within Dulston you'll probably want a centralized location so you can hit any target with the fewest number of moves. A non-resource building would also let you avoid any issues with other players, as most non-resource buildings aren't considered important enough on their own to be worth the trouble. Lastly you want a building that will allow you to reach the mall in a direct line with Free Running. My choice? I would go with the Speak Motel [95,4] or the Gouger Arms [94,5], although I haven't been there in a while, so you might want to run someone over there and see if anyone spraypainted it as their HQ (there are a few groups that are unaccounted for within Dulston, like the SAS and The Safety Patrol). As it's also beside Parrott Towers, you can also keeps tabs on FOXHOUND and the mobile phone mast too. But let me know which building you guys decide on. --Mobius187 10:07 PM, 25 Feb, 2006 (EST)
- To answer your question Larith, there are only 5 buildings that could be considered to have claims to them, or at least that I'm aware of:
- Larith, Downe Towers is a good choice, as similar to my own suggestions, it places your group headquarters near the center of the suburb. I also agree with your suggestion for an alternative HQ, as I should have mentioned that's why the Malton Fire Department claimed more than one building, but not just that, in Pescodside the MFD chose a building adjacent to their HQ building as an "entry point". Basically, it allowed them maximum protection for their HQ building (i.e. Extremely Heavily barricaded), but still allowed entry via Free Running as the adjacent building's barricades were kept at VS+2. In this way they can enter and leave their HQ and know it's a safe house with maximum protection for their members during the night. I would personally suggest a similar plan... BUT... if you did, you would have to mention it officially to the D.D.D.S. as they currently have Downe Towers listed as Very Strongly (+2) in their Dulston Optimal Defense Diagram. This was one of my reasons for suggesting the Speak Motel [95,4] or the Gouger Arms [94,5], as both of those buildings are designated at "EH" barricades currently (no change required).
Of course the DODD isn't written in stone, as even in Dunnel Hills people disobey the DHPD's VS+2 barricade rules, so I say go with whatever works for your group, as since you guys are hunting zombies I'm sure no one will care. Also, let me know when you have your 2nd, rally point, HQ building selected. --Mobius187 8:12 AM, 28 Feb, 2006 (EST)

Dulston Groups
Greetings members of Dead vs. Blue, I'm posting this in hopes that members from your group will be able to confirm that you are in fact working within Dulston at this time. The reason I'm asking is because I happen to be in Dulston (or Pescodside depending on the time of day) and I'm editing the Wiki pages for both suburbs so they provide more information. As such, let me know and I'll add you to the group list for Dulston or feel free to do so yourselves. As to how I found out your group was in Dulston, well, I patched up one of your members at Treweeke Mall about a week ago, but as a common practice I always check a survivor's profile beforehand to see who I'm healing because I hate wasting FAKs on warmed-over zombies. --Mobius187 9:31, 22 Feb, 2006 (EST)

Greetings from the Malton Fire Department!
I've been asigned Captainship of Dulston by the MFD and have been operating in the area for around a month now. I've noticed an incease in your group's numbers of late and was recently contacted by one of your members. On behalf of the M.F.D. and my superiors, I'd like to extend the hand of friendship and invite you to join in our discussions at the Department of Emergency Management Boards at:
http://s14.invisionfree.com/Brainstock
Simply start a "Dead vs. Blue" thread in the Human groups category. Formal alliance is a possibility - my superior, Thalarion, will no doubt respond to your thread once you start it. I look forward to working with Dead vs. Blue toward keeping Dulston and the surrounding 'burbs free from the influences of the zombies and their allies.

I like what you're doing with the Dulston Alliance. Since Mall Tour left I've had the idea of a large organisation around here a few times, but dismissed it, after all I'm only one person with no large group to back me up. I'm totally behind you on the Alliance thing, hope it gets set up well and functions. I've spoken to my group, we may be joining you, but I'll get back to you. Great job. --Preasure 20:05, 2 March 2006 (GMT)

Hello there, fellow players.
This is Frostbreath from [Newgrounds]. I'm here beacuse i want to discuss the fact that i got Pked by one of your members, for a reason that he said was beacuse i'm a known zed. Which is not true. I can't find my name on your shoot-at-sight list either. Firstly, i don't recall having my character being in Dulston at all. Secondly, i haven't had any warning that i'd be shot at sight in any suburb at all, let alone in three suburbs away from Dulston.
The person who did this was Hells Fargo, and here's a screenshot of him shooting to kill. All i want now is to make sure this wont be happening again.
Peace out, --Frostbreath 08:55, 12 May 2006 (BST)
Smear Campaign
I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but I've noticed several nearby buildings, and the SE corner of Treweeke Mall, has been tagged anti-"Dead vs Blue". Personally while I can contend with people tagging building pro-zombie or pro-survivor, I don't like it when they slander groups or people. Well I don't have a spray can, but I thought I would mention it to you guys. You might want to take a look around the mall area and remove those defamatory tags. If you re-spray paint several times you tag can actually resist being overwritten (like barricading, in a way, and something you might want to do). --Mobius187 9:42 AM, Mar 16th 2006 (EST)

The South Blythville Recovery Effort is a collaboration of individual survivors and groups working together to recover South Blythville to what it was before the Big Bash 3 come in and broke everything. If you and/or your group are in the South Blythville area and would like to help, Please view this page, and/or contact -Dezonus- (talk) Please forward this on, even if you don't wish to partake as we can use all the help we can get. {{SBRadd}} places this on your post ;) |
Hey there, I've sent you this because you're a survivor group. Please help us if you can, we'd really appreciate it. If you can't help physically, you can always help by spreading the word ;) -Dezonus- (talk) 10:53, 16 September 2010 (BST)
