First Book of Indoctrinations
The Inquisition
The single most powerful unifying force in the Imperium is faith:
The reverent worship of the God-Emperor that binds loyal Imperial citizens together.
It is the sole purpose of the inqusition to make sure that the all important faith of the imperium is not defiled by filth, either from inside by those who would seek to pollute The Emperor's most holy light, such as mutants and heretics or from without by chaos or the alien.
The organization is split into three main parts:
- Ordo Malleus (Daemonhunters) - concerns itself with daemonic threats to the Imperium.
- Ordo Xenos (Alien hunters) - seeks out and eliminates alien influence within the Imperium.
- Ordo Hereticus (Witch hunters) - specialises in discovering and destroying heretics and traitors within the Imperium.
There are other Ordos of the Inquisition but these Ordos are smaller and more specialized than the main three Ordos. The Ordo Sepultrum, one of these minor Ordos created during the 10th Black Crusade to deal with zombie threats, is extremly active in Malton, due to the high number of undead.
As Hive Malton itself has no aliens, the Ordo Xenos is rarely called upon. Instead, the Ordos Sepultrum and Malleus defend imperial citizens and strongholds against the cursed undead and the Ordo Hereticus is used to scout, eliminate key individuals and buildings and defend against internal threats, such as traitors.
In the name of The Emperor...
As one of the most powerful tools of the Emperor, joining the Inquisition has many benefits. An Inquisitor has the power to requisition any members of imperium as he or she sees fit. They also has the power to be judge, jury and executioner; Punishment may be given at the discretion or the Inquisitor, providing it can be justified at a later time.
All this power comes at a heavy price, however, all wishing to become a fully fledged Inquisitor most pass a loyalty test (this may vary from person to person). After they have been deemed worthy, they are appointed by a senior Inquisitor, or in rare cases, the Lord Inquisitor Himself.
After appointment, a new Inquisitor is given a mark to put on their profile, making them recognisable to other Inquisitors, whilst remaining hidden from others. The Inquisitor should never reveal who they are, except when requisitioning Imperial forces, punishing or warning and on the request of another Inquisitor. The last case is extremely rare and should be checked before confirming your identity to anyone.
The consequences of impersonating an Inquisitor in any way, shape or form are grave indeed, punishment is being forever declared an enemy of the Imperium and death on sight by any Imperial forces. This may or may not include a bounty and hunting by a member of the Officio Assassinorum. Failing to follow the orders of an Inquisitor without good reason (i.e. Identity not confirmed) also carries a punishment, which varies depending on both the nature of the refusal and the Inquisitor doing the trial.
Organisation of the Inquisition in Malton
Lord Inquisitor
The Inquisition in Malton is headed by the Lord Inquisitor. This individual has the power to levy investigations against possible spies and traitors, order the elimination of a criminal, judge all civil crimes in the Imperium, and dispatch Inquisitorial assets on special operations.
Senior Inquisitor
Where the Lord Inquisitor commands the Senior Inquisitor makes things happen. These individuals take charge of those beneath on special operations and enforcement of the laws of the Imperium, often coordinating multiple units of lesser members of the Inquisition.
Inquisitor
The lowest rank capable of conducting investigations, an Inquisitor like a Senior Inquisitor will conduct prosecutions in court as well as take to the field directly to handle criminal activity and lead special operations. Each Inquisitor has tasked to them a squad of Stormtroopers to assist in carrying out these duties.
Adeptus Arbites
The lowest active rank in the Inquisition, the Adeptus Arbites are the rank and file of the Inquisition. Each one is a highly trained operative and they are assigned for duties ranging from tracking down criminals to conducting operations of vital importance to the Imperium.
Acolyte
A new inductee into the Inquisition, Acolytes are recruited from within the Imperium and remain as such until deemed fit for duty by the Inquisition.
