20070727 Aggressive Instincts

Steakfish 06:01, 27 July 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type: Skill

Suggestion scope: Zombies

Suggestion description
Through repeated experiences, the zombie's brain has developed a basic stimulus-response system. This zombie skill would add a button saying -Aggressive Instincts 5 AP- After the button is clicked it would say -Cancel Aggressive Instincts 0 AP- If the zombie spends 5 AP on aggressive instincts, the next five times it is SUCCESSFULLY attacked with a claw, bite, or hand-to-hand weapon attack, it will automatically make a single claw attack at the survivor or zombie who attacked it. These claw attacks will be at the normal chance to hit and damage (modified by death grip and rend flesh), but tangling grasp will not apply. These five attacks will automatically occur regardless of how many AP the zombie has, and regardless of whether or not the player is logged in. If all five automatic attacks have not been used and the zombie dies, all remaining automatic attacks will be negated. All remaining automatic attacks can also be cancelled by the player by clicking -Cancel Aggressive Instincts 0 AP-. All successfull automatic attacks will earn 1 XP for the zombie, regardless of whether the target of the automatic attack is a zombie or a survivor. If a successfull hand-to-hand attack is made on a zombie that has activated Agressive Instincts, but the resulting automatic attack is unsuccessfull, the flavor text would read something like -You strike the zombie, and it lunges wildly in your direction.- This would alert the attacker that further attacks against this zombie may be unwise. It is assumed that anyone attacking a zombie with a firearm is out of range for a hand-to-hand attack, and will not trigger an automatic attack in response. --Steakfish 06:03, 27 July 2007 (BST)

Keep Votes

  1. Give you credit for trying. It's a cool idea, and even though most zombies would prefer to spend those 5 AP actually clawing someone themselves (more XP) this still could have some use. Shame it's considered an auto attack; as you can see, that's a death sentence (sometimes a subtle death threat, apparently) 'round these parts. Kalir FTW! Z/S UD Potato Words 18:22, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  2. encouraging keep people are very stereotyped above auto-attacks... Also i'd like to write "as Seb", but his vote is in kill, so i'll just go with "good" --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 23:26, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Excellent Run At It So far, the best auto attack I've seen. I don't care what everyone else says, this is the best and fairest run at auto attack yet. --Secruss 02:01, 28 July 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep - I like the idea, however yes, it does need some work. Head over to talk:suggestions and post your suggestion there. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:58, 28 July 2007 (BST)
  5. Keep - I'm with Dux on this one. Nice try. --Evildemon989 Talk · Help · W! · P! · SU! · TJ! · Hai! 01:06, 9 August 2007 (BST)
  6. Slight Change - Spend 6 AP instead, and you have my vote. This wouldn't break anything. BoboTalkClown 01:40, 9 August 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill - It's not a terrible idea, but automatic attacks are just not my bag and would not really fit the game as it stands. --The Hierophant 06:40, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - No auto attacks.--Pdeq 07:11, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - As above, and why just claw attacks? --Midianian 09:44, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - 5 auto attacks or death sucks.--Karekmaps?! 10:38, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - Auto attacks would break stuff.--Seventythree 11:01, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Don't let computer do the fun. --Perne 11:33, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - As Perne, let every action be a human action. 'arm. 11:47, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  8. Change - I actually like it in some ways. I'm not concerned about the auto-attack, as it still requires human judgement as to when the option would be worth using in the first place (many times it is pointless). The main reason I like it is that it lets zombies store up AP. Spending 5 AP on "Aggression" and then recovering back up to 50AP before s siege would be a decent tactic, for example. Otr at least it would be if siege defenders ever used melee attacks.
The reason I don't like it is that is is mostly zombies who make melee attacks, so this doesn't actually help zombies much, and actually seems to hurt them. How about having the attacks go against anybody who tries to scan or revive the zombie as well? THAT would make it worth using for most zombies, without making things unduely hard on revivers. And so what if it is an auto atack- what's a few points of claw damage, when it only comes at you when you are logged in? You can simply ignore it, heal, or run away; its not like the zombie is (generally) gonna chase you! . . . swiers BigEYEwitnessLOGO.png 15:56, 27 July 2007 (BST)

  10. Kill - No Auto Attacks. Ever. --HighGenGrue 16:33, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  11. Kill - Auto attacks = Bad. Killing people who suggest auto attacks = Good. --Saluton 16:42, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  12. Kill - Auto Attack = Auto Kill. As above.--Wooty 19:15, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  13. Kill - Almost every zombie would use this before they logged off... making for a hell of a lot of auto-attacks. --Vault 21:00, 27 July 2007 (BST)
  14. Kill- Number 1: AUTO ATTACKS ARE BAD. Number 2:This would KILL every single low level survivor, almost literally. How do you think firemen, scouts, consumers, and all those classes gain XP? By whacking zombies with melee implements. Auto attacks against them would frustrate them to the point where they would give up, en-masse, and become zombies. The game is balanced, pretty fairly, already, don't unbalance it with this. Number 3: That said, this is the best auto attack suggestion I've seen. Nalikill 14:30, 28 July 2007 (BST)
  15. Kill - as everyone in kill section. No auto-attacks. [Fin] --Ryiis 18:33, 28 July 2007 (BST)
  16. Kill- as everyone else.Auto attacks BAD! Chill 00:11, 29 July 2007 (BST)

  21. Kill - To quote a mod, "The others have said almost everything I would have said already, so instead of repeating it, I shall simply say these four words: "Fuck off and die."--Wooty 06:44, 1 August 2007 (BST)
  22. KILLLLLLL - Auto Attack plus it encourages people to use firearms w/c brings axe people at a disadvantage --Packer 19:07, 1 August 2007 (BST)
  23. Kill - Auto attacks are bad. If this was implemented, no one would ever want to attack a zombie. --Heavy DDR 15:04, 2 August 2007 (BST)
  24. Auto attack bad. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 05:15, 7 August 2007 (BST)
  25. Keel -- I believe that autoattacks are not allowed --Your friendly neighbourhood psychopathc, Lord Evans 19:26, 10 August 2007 (BST)
  26. Kill - I don't believe this is really an "auto-attack" as it requires the AP and human input to use it. For the kill reason and suggestions for improvement read everything Swiers said. --Dipcup 01:55, 11 August 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Ug. People abusing the Kill Vote. Auto-attacks should be spammed. But I am voting Spam for a different reason, this would nerf ZKers, which is a legit way of getting XP. Some zombies would rather be killed by a fellow zombie than headshot by a harman, ya know? Find a way to edit it, like how Swiers suggested, and I think it will be fine. Or maybe have it that zombies ignore attacks by other zombies.--ShadowScope 18:30, 29 July 2007 (BST) EDIT: This also boosts firearms far too much...--ShadowScope 18:30, 29 July 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam - Auto attack--Sachaztan 09:33, 31 July 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam - Yep, auto-attacks are spamtastic.-- Pavluk 22:28, 9 August 2007 (BST)
