Suggestion description
So here's the idea:

We add a button for survivors, which is available only inside buildings, labeled 'Rest' or some such, and placed along the top part of the screen, along with attacks, searching etc. What this does, is it causes the survivor to becomes unable to move or preform any other action besides speaking. The resting status is shown to all humans and/or zombies in the building or block. The practical whatzits are displayed later.

Text displayed:

Human:

<Player Name> is resting on the ground.

Zombie:

There are <Number of resting players> on the ground. They look very vulnerable and squishy.

When a survivor is resting, all damage to them is doubled, as is the chance to hit. They also cannot stop resting until 10 AP is recovered, at which point the 'Get up' option will appear, causing the survivor to stop resting, at the cost of 1 AP.

The practical upshot of all this is that, when resting, the survivor recovers AP at twice the normal rate, at one every 15 minutes instead of one every thirty minutes. Also, HP gets recovered faster.

Although this could be dangerous and encourage PKing, I think that it would add to the apocalyptic atmosphere, and create tighter groups of people you can trust.

That's all I got. Vote well.
