==Re: nation library edit:==

== WikiFauna ==
Good Morning,
Thank you for the information and understanding. It's been years since I used this site.
I have made the accurate correction this time. Nation is up. Looking at it right now.
Also, the Danger Report notification at the top of the edit box does specify it is to be NPOV,
I was trying to help that person, but went about it wrong. I will do better.
I'm sure the usual problem makers will try to tie me to their enemy, but the fact is I was just trying to keep things as accurate as possible. Time for some people to grow up and learn this is not their game, nor their site, and we're all just guests of the creator.
Take care.  {{User:Neutral objector}} 04:30, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

== A/V report ==

Thanks.
Even if I had actually been the one to make the edit in question, A/V policy is to contact the user and try to work it out with them <b>before</b> aggressively filing a report to get them punished, to promote good faith and newbie-friendliness in the community. I note that my talk page is still nonexistent. If you had left me a message instead of rushing to A/V, perhaps we could have worked out some of the smaller details like "I have never edited the page you accused me of vandalizing." --[[User:Envious|Ɛňvϊoцᵴ]] ([[User talk:Envious|talk]]) 16:21, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
:I had a brain fart making a report about the wrong account, apologies there. I copied the most recent A/VB report over while on the run and somehow didn't remember to change it to the actual accused. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/a}} 22:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

was there any discussion about it on the wiki ? --<small>[[User:Hagnat|hagnat]]</small> 14:45, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
:Not that I'm aware of. It's on Kevan, so our lack of discussion here on the wiki is not really surprising. Frankly, given that he cut off payments from UK customers to comply with updated business regulations a few years back, I was half expecting that the wiki and game might suddenly shut down so that he wouldn't have to worry about any potential GDPR compliance issues, but that hasn't happened (yet). {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 17:06, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
:No. I'm not really the person to discuss the GDPR thing. I honestly don't really know much about it at all, so if anyone else wants to chime in with thoughts, please do. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/a}} 03:47, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

It was vandalism strike one, I'll talk to them if they can be bothered coming back for more ... or you can chase them down as you see fit.
I was going to back it up for you, then noticed you already did. The idea is not bad, too bad kevan has not decided to do this. He seems to be active still on his main site. --{{User:Gardenator/sig}} 06:06, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

There is no civility policy on this wiki, they have every right to say what they are saying. The thing is, 90% of the abusing comments on the deletions votes were not personal attacks but only in response to the tameness of the deletions case. As for Read and co, they are shitstirrers and are looking for a reaction from their behaviour, your responsibility is to stop giving it to them.
yes I know that's ridiculous

As for DCC's comment on the open discussion, DCC notoriously swears a lot and it is 100% within his right.
anyway how have you been?

Basically, as per Jed and Read, there's nothing the admin can do to help you or enforce your wishes. It isn't because we are bad sysops, or we like to see this happen, but because the structure of the wiki prevents us from having any authority in stopping user X saying user Y is gay. As for [[wikipedia:Wikipedia:Five pillars|the 5 pillars]], a majority of them don't apply to UDWiki at all, namely in this case the fact we don't have a Code of Conduct. The best you can do is to go to [[A/A|arbitration]] and request something that necessitates your wishes. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|LightSkyBlue}}-- 05:43, 13 August 2009 (BST)

:How embarassing. After [[Project CP|PCP]], I should know better. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|LightSkyBlue}}-- 01:05, 14 August 2009 (BST)
:I'm interested to hear what you think- I saw those and interpreted it as the same user coming back under a new account (perhaps they forgot their old password) and just reclaiming their old projects, which isn't uncommon. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 22:53, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
::Particularly because all they've done on that group page is do a couple of small spelling fixes, etc. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 22:54, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
:::Ok, and that is fine reasoning; however, Pyropardus blanked user Pardus's page and erased quite a bit of data off of two other pages.  Now compare that to user Igotmadenoughtomakeanewaccount, who was warned for making edits to user Shaqfu's page.  There was some back and forth so it was apparent that Shaqfu didn't want the edit to his page.  The edits were the addition of two templates, one of which called user A Helpful Little Gnome a "five alarm fuckwit".  That appeared to draw user A Helpful Little Gnome into creating a V/B case against user Igotmadenoughtomakeanewaccount.

==[[Things to do on the Wiki when you're dead]]==
:::What I really don't like is the precedent this could set.  Does this mean that anyone can make a new account like say user NewMartyBanks, and then proceed to edit user MartyBanks profile and erase large portions of the group he is associated with?--{{User:Gardenator/sig}} 02:43, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

:::::Sure. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 05:52, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
:::::So just to put my 2c in now the case is done is I'm pleased you bought the case forward because it can be better to be safe than sorry, and I'm cool with that, although I consider the precedent you seem wary of to simply be "assuming good faith", which is the vibe I got from the whole situation (luckily I was right, though I could have easily been wrong and looked like a tit). Nothing wrong with escalating an issue because no one else has brought anything up because of assumptions. I think you did the right thing. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 16:37, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
::::::Yeah, I was wary for that above reason, plus I think pardus was one of the free speech for all people we were arguing with on discord.  I wanted to make the issue known before when I first noticed it, but I wanted to wait to see of there were anymore edits. It did get some humorous stuff going when bob and pyropadus started edit warring. --{{User:Gardenator/sig}} 16:53, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
:::::::Yeah. That was weird and hilarious. I hadn't made the potential connection with the account and the latest Discord issues. That would have made it definitely checking up. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 16:56, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

==Urban dead has become boring now==
== Warning (Totes Official) ==

I think it is due to the sameness that occurs over time. Nothing ever changes, it's just more of the same. Kill zombies, get killed by pkers, kill humans. It never changes. Do you agree is my question. [[User:Aka Paradox|Aka Paradox]] 01:55, 15 August 2009 (BST)
[[Image:Stop_hand.png|left|35px]] Please stop telling people they should feel honored to be warned by me. It's weird. Continuing to do so may result in additional requests of this variety. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 08:22, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
:I've been playing for just over 2 years and at one point, yes, I thought the game had become boring. I think the game can only become boring if you expect too much from it. I won't go through a history lesson, but when I got bored with the game, I just tried new things. Being a brain rotted human, leading groups, [[ATO|travelling]] and organising games like [[Manhunt|manhunts]]. At the moment I'm with a couple of groups who co-ordinate over IRC and hence it has a fun, welcome, social point to it. When I found UD got boring I just played it more casually, and it worked that way. To play UD you have to be prepared to ''fight'' for something, and when a suburb is green and it's surrounding suburbs are as such, there isn't much to ''fight'' for, only to ''stay'' for. They aren't the same thing.
:What an honour! I was just about to joke about how now I can use this 'warning' to fulfil another bucket list item by sending you to misconduct... But I just checked through your archive and it turns out I already did! I even got you banned! {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}} 08:37, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
:As for the balance of the game and its structure, I do think that something's wrong. A battle hasn't happened since Kevan introduced cade-blocking and de-centralised malls with the FAKs, which I don't like because I enjoyed being with a massive brethren fighting against the biggest horde there was to offer. Kevan's changed the game over time so it can serve more as a ''zombie apocalypse'', which is great, except for the "apocalypse" part, which Malton is currently ''not''. Survivors outnumber Zombies far too greatly and that's likely to never change in UD's current state.
::But for real, please don’t leave Aichon... 😢 {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}} 21:15, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
:Long story short: UD gets boring when survivors dominate 70% of the game over zombies. The game isn't boring when someone like [[The Dead]] trounce the place and make every single suburb a death zone, because then you have someone to truly fight against and a true goal to achieve. At the moment, it's a bit of a wank for survivors and it's been like it for a while. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|LightSkyBlue}}-- 02:16, 15 August 2009 (BST)
:::I'll still generally be available if someone pings me, but I don't plan to check in on my own otherwise. There's enough other stuff going on to keep me busy in life, and those things are the areas I'd like to be putting more of my attention going forward, so it's time to clear out the old time sinks that I've allowed to accumulate. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 23:54, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
::I guess that means I do agree to some extent, but personally I don't find UD boring because I've gone to certain lengths to keep doing what makes me enjoy UD: fight back for suburbs with survivor groups in ravaged towns, and participate in [[Manhunt|manhunts]] with friends and other wiki users. You just have to find something Malton that keeps you coming back. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|LightSkyBlue}}-- 02:16, 15 August 2009 (BST)
::::Good call. We all have to do it eventually. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}} 02:10, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
:Thank you for that very honest answer. I honestly think though that it's the "standstill"ness of the game that makes it so different from what I imagined a MMORPG. If it helps you to understand what I mean try to imagine the movie Dawn of the Dead but with you being able to play in the entire city and there's *animation*. I don't want to click on a button and affect essentially nothing cause on a small scale like urban dead it feels like you are only playing with yourself and time is standing still. (no joke intended). I want to like see actual weapons and you aiming at the zombies who number in the hundred thousands as I helplessly try to barricade a mall or something. Can you feel that adrenaline from something so innovative? [[User:Aka Paradox|Aka Paradox]] 19:08, 15 August 2009 (BST)

Hey, I've just had a thought: shouldn't Daranz be the first sysop up for re-evauation as he was, technically, the first to be promoted (despite his inactivity). I don't mind going first, it gets it out of the way early but I was just wondering what you thought about it?--{{User:The General/sig}} 16:17, 20 August 2009 (BST)

:If he was the first one to be promoted then you are absolutely right and I apoligize, I set up the A/RE page late at night and was fearful I would get some of the user rights logs a little wrong. What do you think about the users voting keep on this? I tried asking Cyberbob, but there was no response. There are easily six of them now, and all of them are new users, most of whom have only voted on that suggestion. Do you think that they're sockpuppets, or do you think that they're just a load of newbs? --{{User:Yonnua Koponen/signature‎}} 20:29, 20 August 2009 (BST)
I appreciate your help, DDR. Since you are knowledgeable about signatures, perhaps you could point me to a link that shows/explains how to take a descriptive two-line string of code that delineates a signature ("font-family", etc.) and turns it into the compact form such as your <nowiki>[[User:DDR|DDR]]</nowiki>. I want to be able to turn the strings of descriptors in mine to the compact version of [[Catherine Cushing|Lizzie Donner]].  I made up a signature for each alt and put them on the bottom of my homepage, User: Catherine Cushing. I feel like the code isn't written up properly somehow. Maybe that's because I don't understand any of it (just filched it from other peoples' pages.)
:I've run the ips. A couple of them appear to be from the same area, possibly even the same person using a variable ip, but the addresses are different enough that we can't get them for sockpuppetry. Considering the similarities in the quality of their spelling and grammar, and the fact that they're all voting on the same awful suggestion, I would hazard a guess that some of them might be meatpuppets (i.e. the author asked his friends to come along and vote) but there's really nothing we can do about it.{{User:The General/sig}} 20:56, 20 August 2009 (BST)

::::Well, he lost, because the suggestion was spammed. But that doesn't stop him trying again with an even zanier suggestion. How about we create a policy of haviong to have 5+ edits in the past month to vote on a suggestion? I'd happily make a policy discussion for it, but I don't know how.--{{User:Yonnua Koponen/signature‎}} 21:40, 20 August 2009 (BST)
:::::If he tries again then I have no doubts whatsoever that it will be spamminated as well. While I do agree that some sort of policy limiting meatpuppetry would be a good idea, but I'm not sure it would be passed as because people wouldn't like the fact that it could restrict new users from voting. The suggestions system has it's own system for suggesting rules changes, etc. which is done through [[Category_talk:Suggestions#Suggestion_Discussion]]. Anyway, it appears boxy is more observant than I am and noticed further similarities in the typing patterns and on those grounds I've ruled vandalism.--{{User:The General/sig}} 22:43, 20 August 2009 (BST)

:::Why should I bother? The entire topic was on the bunnies talk page, it's just customary on this wiki to continue the conversation there. Personally, I couldn't give two shits whether you were serious or not, the very fact you made the statement at all is ludicrous, even as a joke. Anyone with a shred of common sense would have criticised DTangent ''when'' he announced the policy, not just sit back and then cry when he 'breaks' it. If you are so touchy about me taking this up with you on your talk page, there's a lesson to be learned in this and it is you should have taken up your frivolous matter on DTangent's talk page, not the Bunnies. Now you've screwed up and anything goes, so deal with it.

:Hey Catherine. Thanks for the well wishes for London. I'm excited to see it.
:So I think there are two solutions to your questions. Please correct me if you have more questions or if I didn't quite understand your queries (it's been a while since I've really troubleshot signatures).
:The first answer to your question is possibly best answered [[Help:Signatures#Customized_Signatures|here]], with some examples of signature styles etc. that will still help you out with coding and what codes might make your signatures look like what.
:As for your second question, I have a complex signature that appears in code just as '''<nowiki>{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}</nowiki>'''when I type my <nowiki>"~~~~"</nowiki>. The way you do that is to go to preferences (top right of this whole page) and go to signature and you add '''<nowiki>{{SUBST:Nosubst|User:YOUR SIG HERE}}</nowiki>.''' So for example, mine says right now, ''' <nowiki>{{SUBST:Nosubst|User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}</nowiki>'''. You are able to go to the real page of [[User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5]] and see the code for yourself, but thanks to this nifty trick, all that code doesn't end up on a page every time I type the signature, the wiki just uses that code as a template.
:Does that help you at all? {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}} 09:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

== WAIT DDR! ==
::That is extremely helpful and very kind of you, DDR, thank you.  (I didn't realize until just now that the signatures I composed have no date and time stamping function included. Ugh.) --[[User:Catherine Cushing|Catherine Cushing]] ([[User talk:Catherine Cushing|talk]]) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
WE CAN'T STOP HERE!...
:::You can manually add the timestamp! Just type in <nowiki>~~~~~</nowiki> after you put in the template to show the sig you want. Also, if you create a separate page for each signature (just like DDR has) then those pages can be used as the template coding then adding in the five tildes afterwards. You might want to ask Bob what he does, as he switches between signatures depending on what he is doing on the wiki. He has his main one, but then for danger status updates, he often uses his Danger Updater signature. So he might be able to give you another point of view on how to do things with your alt's signatures :) {{User:Stelar/sig}} 11:16, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
::::For my side signatures, I have a subpage for them (just like a regular signature), e.g. at [[User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig]]. Then, I type ''<nowiki>{{User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig}} ~~~~~</nowiki>'', which transcludes the side signature and then adds just the timestamp (with five tildes, as opposed to four tildes, which would also include my regular signature). {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 11:58, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
:::::Thanks all for pitching in to answer that third query that I skimmed past... Basically as Bob and Stelar have said above in regards to getting your 'alternate' signatures to appear as though you are speaking as one of your alts. (Might as well do one for this here message, by manually typing an old sig and then adding the 5 tildes.) {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig2}} 04:10, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Well hello again! I remember your name from back in the day, and I recently came back myself. Just wanted to say hi. Anyway... There's a couple pages that I had created, that I won't use/have no use for anymore. I was looking for some help on deleting them. These are the pages in question. Thanks!
:'''RE:''' Okay, fair enough, but I did take it out of the main suggestions system after like 5 minutes. I do have a question though, maybe I'm an idiot and oblivious to the obvious, but why is everyone so worked up about it in the developing suggestions syste? {{unsigned|BlueSpurt|}}

== Help with deletion. ==

Hey there. I tried talking to Daranz [http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User_talk:Daranz#Help_with_old_account.21 about this] but he didn't reply. I want to delete both of my accounts ([[User:Dr Frank|old one]] and this [[User:The Second|current one]]) so that I can make a new account using the name of my old account, so can you please suggest what I should do next? Should I put up both the accounts up for speedy delete, or what? --[[User:The Second|The Second]] 09:58, 30 August 2009 (BST)
:Daranz speaks the truth. None of us can do anything about it, I'm sorry. Unless you can work out which email addy you registered with (and it's still active), you'll be better off starting again. ::Thanks, can please you tell me how to redirect pages? And which page should I redirect to? --[[User:The Second|The Second]] 12:35, 30 August 2009 (BST)
:::Alright, for example, if [[User:Dr Frank|Dr Frank]] is your old account, you just replace all the content on that page to the following:
:::{{codeinline|<nowiki> #REDIRECT: [[User:NEW ACCOUNT]]</nowiki>}}
:::Obviously replacing ''NEW ACCOUNT'' with your new username. To change your signature to ''say'' the name you want but ''link'' to your main account, make the new account that you want and then go to [[Special:Preferences|my preferences]] and change the ''"nickname"'' field to the name you want (for example, Dr Frank) and make sure that the ''"Raw signatures"'' box underneath it is '''unchecked''', then save your preferences. Your signature should now say your chosen name but link to your new user profile. If you have any problems, just come back and I'll try and help out. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|BlueViolet}}-- 13:30, 30 August 2009 (BST)

:::Ok, I made a signature for [[User:The Second|this account]] that leads to [[User:Dr Frank|this page]]. I'll be using [[User:Dr Frank|this account]] but logging in with [[User:The Second|this one]]. I only need to make sure that [[User:The Second]] redirects to [[User:Dr Frank]], or maybe that's not necessary, since the signature takes you to Dr Frank. {{User:Dr Frank/Signature}} 04:00, 31 August 2009 (BST)
::::Hm, I was under the assumption you would be using the account that you were redirecting to and leaving the redirected one inactive because you didn't want it anymore. :::::I'm so very confused. I wanted to use my old account, but since I couldn't access it I made [[User:The Second|this one]], and am using it to '''use''' [[User:Dr Frank|the old account]]. I just want to start using the old, inactive account. I hope there isn't a problem with that... --{{User:Dr Frank/Signature}} 04:39, 31 August 2009 (BST)
::::::Ah, I see. Look, You should, in my opinion, just make an account called DrFrank or something that's similar and just make that your main account. What you're doing isn't technically wrong but it's just so confusing for users because The Second, on first inspection, is too discernible from Dr Frank it will just confuse users. It's basically up to you. However, it might be worth it to make a notice at the top of Dr Frank, just to say that you edit under the account of The Second, just so no one freaks out etc. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|BlueViolet}}-- 04:55, 31 August 2009 (BST)

== Game History ==

{{quote|DanceDanceRevolution|
*make a subcategory of [[:Category:Events]] that only has in-game events created by kevan eg. [[fog]]
**and hence, make [[Snow]]!}}

The existing categories for game history, fictional backstory, actual news events, mega-impact player events and smaller scale player events is a fucked up as that list itself.

I had a half-hearted attempted at providing some reasonable order in my (on-going) category cleanup. Currently most everything comes under [[:Category:History]] where I've had a stab at deciding what belongs where. [[:Category:Events]] would be for game history such as sieges and basically anything players organized. [[:Category:Fiction]] is the catch-all for anything that's basically creative writing. Generally backstory but some other stuff too. The history category itself I was planning to use to chuck the actual news updates and special happenings like April Fools, Halloween, etc, and maybe any articles that were reasonably NPOV on events that had a big in-game impact (Yahoomas, the goons, etc)

That said, I'm open to debate on all that. I didn't feel upto renaming/recategorizing most of that since they were well populated and whatnot. {{User:The_Rooster/Sig}} 01:59, 3 September 2009 (BST)
:Hmm. I always prefer using a category like Category:History as a portal category, say for Category:Events, Category:Fiction and perhaps.... Category:Developer Events (decent title TBA obviously), and then all that which is in Category:History and Category:Events can be sorted between those three. Your old name space (The one with the face and the "stylish minimalism" as you put it) really doesn't help anyone trying to read the far right column on your page. ::Probably.  But I get what you mean about the Events thingy. Should I have read more into it?{{User:Rorybob/Sig}}13:57, 3 September 2009 (BST)
:::No, don't feel like you're doing wrong because I love all the help I can get- and what you're doing isn't ''wrong'' because wiki's are designed to be like this- I just think that "Events" is an apt term to describe the player-run events. particularly because Kevan's are much rarer and perhaps deserve a category called maybe "Official Events". Whatcha think? Obviously if you can think of a better name than Official Events, I'm all ears ;) --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|BlueViolet}}-- 14:00, 3 September 2009 (BST)

:Just at the top of [http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=UDWiki:Administration/Speedy_Deletions/Archive/2009_09&action=edit&section=1 here] (on [[A/SD]]) with a level 3 header. == Undeletion ==

This is what happens when I go away.

[[User:Red_Hawk_One|Laughing Boy]] decides he's going to have his own way with other groups. He creates [[Mall_Tour_2009/Map]] after [[UDWiki:Administration/Speedy_Deletions/Archive/2009_05#Mall_Tour_2009.2FMap|group leadership]] have already decided to delete it. And then has the actual map [[UDWiki:Administration/Speedy_Deletions/Archive/2009_09#Category:Mall_Tour_2009.2FMap|deleted]] because he's apparently in charge.

The deletion breaks links and ruins the fact that the group is hosted entirely in category space as is legal and makes it easier to find things when linking etc.

Deleting it also caused breaks in template links, not that he appears to have considered this first.

Given that group leadership have the right to organise their pages as they see fit, and creating pages in the space of other groups or users has been voted vandalism previously, do we get a deletion of his version and an undeletion of the actual version? Or must there be drama? -- {{User:Iscariot/Signature}} 20:28, 12 September 2009 (BST)
:I have a feeling you're looking for [[UDWiki:Administration/Undeletions| this page]].--{{User:Yonnua Koponen/signature‎}} 20:37, 12 September 2009 (BST)
::I know that, but it's easier to resolve here given that official requests will entail questions as to why is was deleted when it broke a template etc. -- {{User:Iscariot/Signature}} 20:39, 12 September 2009 (BST)
:::Fair enough. I was under the misinterpretation that undeletion required a vote.--{{User:Yonnua Koponen/signature‎}} 21:09, 12 September 2009 (BST)
::::He had to move the page manually because moving category pages is impossible. Having it as a category page was pretty stupid and I agree that it should've been moved. That said there does appear to be [[Mall Tour 2009/MallTourMap|this pre-existing duplicate]] which appears to have been missed be everybody, so it seems like SDing the new page would rectify this.

::::On a related note, the first level headers of these 09 tour pages still need fixing for interfering with content outside the usual page area. It'd be nice to see something actually done about that. {{User:The_Rooster/Sig}} 00:39, 13 September 2009 (BST)
:::::Who asked for a move? No-one in the group. In owned userspace people and groups can create subpages as they see fit. What we have here is someone recreating a page leadership had deleted, and then having a perfectly legal page deleting and breaking links elsewhere. ::::::::::It's very simple really, don't screw up the group's wiki-organisation, and random users won't have to come along and fix it for you. :::::::::::::''"It's very simple really, don't screw up the group's wiki-organisation, and random users won't have to come along and fix it for you."'' As this page is the only one in question and you've said ''"fix it for you"'', I didn't create it, so they aren't fixing it for me. It also can't be a dupe, as the fucking leadership of the group already had the page he re-created deleted under owner privilege. He decided he was going to go against the express wishes of the owners of the page and bring back something they had removed. Also, still doesn't address why it went through this process and broke a template whilst no fucker noticed. It also doesn't explain why my protections still aren't done (oh you must not be one of those janitorial sysops...) or you can take the time to argue here and not consider the misconduct cases (so you aren't a ruling sysop either.... what do you actually do with the position?). Still waiting for my apology. -- {{User:Iscariot/Signature}} 04:47, 13 September 2009 (BST)
::::::::::::::I'm sorry, Iscariot, sorry that you're such a tool. You created this mess when you organised the group this way. You created the original [[:Category:Mall Tour 2009]] page, that forced this sub page to become an unused category when someone else just tacked on the /MT09Map to the end like anyone would. It wouldn't be a problem if the page was in the proper place in the first place, in the [[Mall Tour 2009|main namespace]]. If you were really looking to help fix up the Mall Tour 2009 pages, you'd be fixing any links or inclusions that may be stuffed up, and making it easy for "the group leadership" to use without creating confusing and duplicate pages all over the wiki <small>-- [[User:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">boxy</span>]] [[User talk:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">talk</span>]] • [[The Rules|teh rulz]] 07:18 13 September 2009 (BST)</small>

:Well, it depends what you want to do on the wiki. I see you've already gotten used to updating Danger Reports, but there's more to be found on the wiki, say, if you'd like to make/join an in-game group, or read UD's history, read about items/skills, or help maintain certain status reports (which you already do for buildings), then you're always welcome to hang around. ::Lose the attitude before I treat you in the manner your requesting. You may feel that you're being here and my not makes my comments invalid but it doesn't. Just because I'm not here for every whiny cunt drama fest doesn't make my additions any less valid, especially when I'm commenting for valid reasons. So you're butthurt about something, get over it or come to me and actually bitch about it in a manner that actually has you not behaving like a royal cunt for no reason because, at this point, that's exactly what you're doing all over the wiki. I posted it on your talk page because that's direct to you and you get a notice and are obviously on, there's no throwing it in your face beyond saying lose the baseless attitude, the rest is "hey, look, this is relevant to my comment and why I posted to boxy and if you're going to continue in that discussion you should probably be aware of it" Sorry I didn't phrase it nice enough, I wasn't aware you were raging at me in general about stupid shit until your last ridiculous comment on A/M. --<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small> 14:20, 17 September 2009 (BST)
:::I never said anything you was saying was less valid. I said if you actually paid more attention to the events you were commenting on there would be less likelihood of stuffing it up, reasonable enough? Yeah, you're free to comment on my talk page but my preference is that we keep the disputes on one page for ease of reading for other users/ourselves later on. I have no further interest in pursuing this Karke, the only reason I had a bite was because a) you complained about no one 'going on' about Iscariot's signature, implying that we as sysop weren't doing their job, when I clearly had 'gone on' about it, hence the butthurt. Also, under my obligation to let the community have their say on A/M before archival is the only reason I had a go at you for prolonging the unnecessary and futile discussion about an admittedly preposterous (but dead) proposal, and then you claiming me that I am not doing my job, hence the further butthurt. I'm over it now. Arsehole, douche, ignorant, biased, bad sysop, whatever I am, I'm over the argument. Just happy Nubis' chapter is finally over and I couldn't care much about anything else we argued about.
To DDR, my sig wasn't bad faith. Being slightly annoying isn't bad faith. The way the Sysop team didnt give me one week to change it is bad faith. The way I was banned for increasing the amount of links to my user page and subpages and removing the amount of external links while decreasing the amount of characters in the link was bad faith.

And to Karek, I lol'd at you saying blah blah..."doesn't make my opinion any less valid". I think I remember you claiming that anyone who wasn't a sysop didn't have an opinion worth listening to. You said it on basically every medium I've ever corresponded with you. You made a big fuss about being elitist on IRC, remember?--{{User:Sexylegsread/sig}} 15:38, 17 September 2009 (BST)
:I think you're confusing situational elitism and educated contributing. My addition on sysop stuff matters on the basis that I can legitimately talk on precedence and policy in a knowledgeable and correct manner. Being there when something happens isn't a viable limiter to user contribution when it doesn't limit the ability of the user to monitor the going ons of the issue/case/event, activity is not a measure of correctness. --<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small> 22:30, 17 September 2009 (BST)

:I'm not sure. A large case is not likely to succeed because we are hesitant to rule on things we can't prove, namely actions that go far back that can't be proved via checkuser. Technically, once DCC is on A/VB, any one of us can call for a premature permaban vote, as per Nubis' own typical precedence established [[UDWiki:Administration/Vandal_Banning/Archive/2009_06#User:Iscariot|here]], but despite the fact DCC has claimed multiple times to have been in control of Nubis account for over a year (eg. A/PM and Nub's talk page), I doubt you'll get the outcome you hoped for. Personally, now he's been demoted they've gone more or less inactive, which supports the theory that they are the same person (the buttons are gone now so he has no interest to come back), but at the same time, asking for more is a bit much. If you want to do the method which has more chance of succeeding, I'd suggest the first one. The team, myself included, has shown enough apathy in enforcing the second method that I wouldn't think your chances are high. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|DarkSlateGray|Silver}}-- 02:42, 26 September 2009 (BST)

== Barricade Plan Template -- District Version ==

Hey DDR. I've been working on a district version of the standard suburb barricade plan template.  I have all the crazy linked coding set up (so that if you make a change to the suburb's plan it is reflected in the district plan automatically), but for some reason I'm still having some issues with uniform sizing of the suburbs within the district. I talked to [[User:Red Hawk One|Red Hawk One]] about it and he said you might have a better idea of how to go about fixing it.

I just spent the last couple hours playing with both the individual suburb width and height values and those in my tables, but both to nil effect.  Hoping that maybe you can think of something I haven't, or that collective brainstorming will come to a solution.  I'd love to set this up for all the districts in Malton, but not unless they can look good.  All the work is in my [[User:Maverick Farrant|Sandbox]].  Thanks in advance! --{{User:Maverick Farrant/sig}} 08:02, 29 September 2009 (BST)
:Hmm. I looked at all the sandboxes, I think I understand what you mean... [[User:Maverick_Farrant/Sandbox_3|this]] is the issue, yes? The odd spaces and whatnot inbetween all the individual suburb inclusions? Does it mean that you'd like them all together without spaces inbetween? --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|DarkSlateGray|Silver}}-- 08:34, 29 September 2009 (BST)
::That's exactly what I'm looking for.  Either so there is no space, or so there is minimal space.  Either way, the varied sizes among all the suburbs is what is driving me crazy right now. --{{User:Maverick Farrant/sig}} 07:21, 30 September 2009 (BST)
:::I think this one may be beyond me at the moment- It's over my head but regardless I'll give it a go after work tomorrow, but in the interest of getting it fixed as soon as possible I've contacted some of the better coders on the wiki, they'll definitely be able to do it for you, the only question is whether they'll come onto UDWiki soon enough to see it. We'll see. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sigcode|DarkSlateGray|Silver}}-- 14:02, 30 September 2009 (BST)

Re: nation library edit:

Good Morning, Thank you for the information and understanding. It's been years since I used this site. I have made the accurate correction this time. Nation is up. Looking at it right now. Also, the Danger Report notification at the top of the edit box does specify it is to be NPOV, I was trying to help that person, but went about it wrong. I will do better. I'm sure the usual problem makers will try to tie me to their enemy, but the fact is I was just trying to keep things as accurate as possible. Time for some people to grow up and learn this is not their game, nor their site, and we're all just guests of the creator. Take care. How can I be a sockpuppet if Im a real person, and don't like a hand up my butt?

Dont be made just because Im making more sense than you. Next time just follow my lead and we can all get there together correctly and accurately!

A/V report

Even if I had actually been the one to make the edit in question, A/V policy is to contact the user and try to work it out with them before aggressively filing a report to get them punished, to promote good faith and newbie-friendliness in the community. I note that my talk page is still nonexistent. If you had left me a message instead of rushing to A/V, perhaps we could have worked out some of the smaller details like "I have never edited the page you accused me of vandalizing." --Ɛňvϊoцᵴ (talk) 16:21, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

I had a brain fart making a report about the wrong account, apologies there. I copied the most recent A/VB report over while on the run and somehow didn't remember to change it to the actual accused. A ZOMBIE ANT 22:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

gdpr

was there any discussion about it on the wiki ? --hagnat 14:45, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

Not that I'm aware of. Aichon 17:06, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
No. I'm not really the person to discuss the GDPR thing. I honestly don't really know much about it at all, so if anyone else wants to chime in with thoughts, please do. A ZOMBIE ANT 03:47, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

I'm interested to hear what you think- I saw those and interpreted it as the same user coming back under a new account (perhaps they forgot their old password) and just reclaiming their old projects, which isn't uncommon. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 22:53, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
Particularly because all they've done on that group page is do a couple of small spelling fixes, etc. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 22:54, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
Ok, and that is fine reasoning; however, Pyropardus blanked user Pardus's page and erased quite a bit of data off of two other pages.
What I really don't like is the precedent this could set. Does this mean that anyone can make a new account like say user NewMartyBanks, and then proceed to edit user MartyBanks profile and erase large portions of the group he is associated with?--Emot-siren.gif LABIA on the INTERNET Emot-siren.gif Dunell Hills Corpseman The Malton Globetrotters#24 - You rated this wiki '1'! So just to put my 2c in now the case is done is I'm pleased you bought the case forward because it can be better to be safe than sorry, and I'm cool with that, although I consider the precedent you seem wary of to simply be "assuming good faith", which is the vibe I got from the whole situation (luckily I was right, though I could have easily been wrong and looked like a tit). Nothing wrong with escalating an issue because no one else has brought anything up because of assumptions. I think you did the right thing. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 16:37, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, I was wary for that above reason, plus I think pardus was one of the free speech for all people we were arguing with on discord. I wanted to make the issue known before when I first noticed it, but I wanted to wait to see of there were anymore edits. It did get some humorous stuff going when bob and pyropadus started edit warring. --Emot-siren.gif LABIA on the INTERNET Emot-siren.gif Dunell Hills Corpseman The Malton Globetrotters#24 - You rated this wiki '1'! Signature and template questions

I appreciate your help, DDR. Since you are knowledgeable about signatures, perhaps you could point me to a link that shows/explains how to take a descriptive two-line string of code that delineates a signature ("font-family", etc.) and turns it into the compact form such as your [[User:DDR|DDR]]. I want to be able to turn the strings of descriptors in mine to the compact version of Lizzie Donner. I made up a signature for each alt and put them on the bottom of my homepage, User: Catherine Cushing. I feel like the code isn't written up properly somehow. Maybe that's because I don't understand any of it (just filched it from other peoples' pages.)

Since I wrote that I did find a place that I think explains how to make a nice signature properly. It is: https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_intro.asp

Have some fun in London. I haven't been there in 18 months (I'm in Oregon, above the Pacific in the USA.) It was August and the weather in Whitby was perfection. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Catherine Cushing (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.I forgot; sorry.Catherine Cushing (talk)But the signature I tried to write doesn't have the time and date in it!!!--Catherine Cushing (talk) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey Catherine. Thanks for the well wishes for London. I'm excited to see it.
So I think there are two solutions to your questions. Please correct me if you have more questions or if I didn't quite understand your queries (it's been a while since I've really troubleshot signatures).
The first answer to your question is possibly best answered here, with some examples of signature styles etc. that will still help you out with coding and what codes might make your signatures look like what.
As for your second question, I have a complex signature that appears in code just as {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}when I type my "~~~~". The way you do that is to go to preferences (top right of this whole page) and go to signature and you add {{SUBST:Nosubst|User:YOUR SIG HERE}}. So for example, mine says right now, {{SUBST:Nosubst|User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}. You are able to go to the real page of User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5 and see the code for yourself, but thanks to this nifty trick, all that code doesn't end up on a page every time I type the signature, the wiki just uses that code as a template.
Does that help you at all? DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 09:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
That is extremely helpful and very kind of you, DDR, thank you. (I didn't realize until just now that the signatures I composed have no date and time stamping function included. Ugh.) --Catherine Cushing (talk) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
You can manually add the timestamp! Just type in ~~~~~ after you put in the template to show the sig you want. So he might be able to give you another point of view on how to do things with your alt's signatures :) stelar Talk|MCM|EBD|Scourge 11:16, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
For my side signatures, I have a subpage for them (just like a regular signature), e.g. at User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig. Then, I type {{User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig}} ~~~~~, which transcludes the side signature and then adds just the timestamp (with five tildes, as opposed to four tildes, which would also include my regular signature). Bob Moncrief EBDW! 11:58, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks all for pitching in to answer that third query that I skimmed past... Basically as Bob and Stelar have said above in regards to getting your 'alternate' signatures to appear as though you are speaking as one of your alts. (Might as well do one for this here message, by manually typing an old sig and then adding the 5 tildes.) -- DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION -- 04:10, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
This is fantastically generous of you all, and I actually understand it!!! (I believe it has also illuminated the idea of posting a template one has made on a file page, so that it actually works out in the UD Wiki world.) I can't tell you how incredibly grateful I am for your help. P.S. I wasn't sure I was allowed to insert a live link for something outside the UD Wiki, so I put spaces into the address for that w3 school tutorial thingee I found. Hey Catherine, thanks for your well wishes, but no need to worry- I’m still an administrator, nothing has really changed in practical terms. I’ve just handed the role of beaurecrat (a slightly higher position with an added admin responsibility) to Bob Moncrief. It’s ok and I’ll still be around 👍 DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 01:42, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

When I make pancakes the first one always sticks and gets fucked up. Any advice for me? -- SomethingSomething.gif 20:36, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
Hmm. That's a tough one. I'd recommend doing an Open Discussion for a meandering session to gain consensus on the issue, vote on the best way through Policy Discussion and if you continue to have issues bring the suggesters to Arbitration so we can bring out justice to the troublemakers. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 22:59, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing that posting, DDR.

I'm not sure when I'm supposed to sign things I write (except messages like this one, obviously.) The revised parks list just seemed to be important enough to be able to back up with my work list, to document, in other words. Catherine Cushing (talk) 04:58, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

For pages like that, I'd just make the edit, and put the reasoning in the edit summary. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 12:01, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
That should have occurred to me, Bob. I'll do that if any similar situation comes up. Thanks. Catherine Cushing (talk) 10:10, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
