New Item: City Map

Timestamp: 02:17, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Type: New Item
Scope: Survivors
Description: City Maps are a new item.
  • Locations: Found in Schools.
  • Search Odds: Fifty percent of the former "book" search results (i.e. if formerly you would have found 10 books in 100 searches, now you find 5 books and 5 maps).
  • Function: Clicking on a City Map in your inventory opens a new window taking you to the suburb map corresponding to your current location. If you clicked on your Map while in Gulsonside you would get a new window: Gulsonside's map.
  • Utility: Helpful for those who don't metagame, esp. newbies. Helpful even for those who do, since you can now instantly access a map.
  • Zombies? Yes, zombies can read a Map in their inventory IF they have Memories of Life.

  2. Keep - Once again you make an awesome suggestion.--Canuhearmenow 02:23, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  3. Keep - it is a tentative keep though. there is already a map, and several extensions that fulfill the same function, but I suppose this would help the noobs. --Kiltric 02:35, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  4. Keep - Sure. Why not? Next thing you know we'll have compasses. Sonny Corleone WTF RRF ASS 02:41, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  5. Keep - The original intention may have been to keep people in the dark, but I see no reason to not give this item. Gives purpose to libraries. I would think that this should be an actual UD map, not visitmalton. I would encourage Kevan to use his own different format from what is in place on the various hosted maps, my ideas being arrange it with GPS co-ords running along the top and left instead of in the squares, and removing NT building and cell mast info. --Burgan 03:00, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  6. Keep - Good idea. Personally, I'd lower the search odds (higher odds of getting books than maps), but that's just me. --Rgon 03:46, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  7. Keep - Flavoursome, and newb friendly. Like Rgon said: lower the odds of finding a map a bit. Also: I think Burgan is on the right track -- Kevan should make his own version without the extras. (Like that is gonna happen...) If Kevan does choose an existing map, can he go with the currently "most full featured" map? Red Rum's map. (Has all the features of the CDF's and Letum Corporation's, but also has "toggle free running lanes", and scrolling through suburbs.) --Xoid 03:51, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  8. Kill - Take away the memories of life requirement. Maps aren't exactly a secret, and there's no reason that newbie zombies should be screwed out of the convenience of not having to go to the wiki or what have you to see a map. --Mookiemookie 04:13, 7 August 2006 (BST)
    • Re - and how is a newbie zombie going to find a Map, I wonder? ;) Rheingold 08:59, 7 August 2006 (BST)
      • Start out as a survivor, get killed straightaway after finding one...you know me, just being cranky and hard to please --Mookiemookie 14:13, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  9. Keep Flavorsome and useful, if unnecessary. --Jon Pyre 04:53, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  10. Keep - Everyone said enough. I just agree. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 05:17, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  11. Keep -I like it, but I would include Railway Stations (get off the train, don't know your way around...) as find locations. And Sonny, don't we already HAVE compasses (so to speak)?--Pesatyel 05:44, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  12. Keep - Adding a feature to an external resource is probably a poor idea. This is a great suggestion. --Max Grivas JG,T,P! 06:04, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  13. Keep - Yesyes!.--Thari T/C/TJ! 07:36, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  14. Keep - Hey Mookiemookie, there's no reason that newbie zombies should be screwed out of the convenience of being able to open up buildings, but they are. Anyway it's not like it's that big of a deal (about the map) IMO. - Jedaz 08:44, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  15. Keep Just what has the GPS thing been plotting our positions on? --Ron Burgundy 10:43, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  16. Keep - OMFG nerfs books! (No one uses those anyway.) --Niilomaan GRR! 11:53, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  17. Keep - I like it. Gives some purpose to libraries. --Nob666 12:03, 7 August 2006 (BST) Edit: Just a random idea: maybe maps could be given out as "rewards" to zombies for ransacking libraries? You knock down a few shelves, books fly around and you see one of them and think to yourself "Hey, that map on the cover looks familiar..." and you automatically pick one up. Once having a map you wouldn't pick up another one. --Nob666 10:20, 8 August 2006 (BST)
  18. Keep - It's a decent suggestion. Anything else has already been said. --Tethran 12:11, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  19. Keep - Would like to see the locations you can find them in expanded a bit, though --Gene Splicer 13:40, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  20. Keep -Cool, Done, Sold. More in game intergration with people's inventions/creations Can realy Boost the Atmosphere. Nazreg 14:59, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  21. Keep - Very useful. --Paradox244 W! TJ! 15:20, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  22. Kill - How would a newbie know to find a map? Its easier to find through the FAQ. --Marie 16:32, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  23. Keep - It's a dupe but I'd like to have one. Put it in more locations. -- (GOD) † 16:55, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  24. Keep - It would also be cool if you could find them in other places, like factories for shipments, or something. --Poopman9 18:29, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  25. Keep - It gives me pleasure. --MrAushvitz 19:17, 7 August 2006 (BST)
  26. Keep - Pretty colors. --Swmono talk - W! - P! - SGP 02:46, 9 August 2006 (BST)
  27. Keep - As above. David Malfisto 12:47, 10 August 2006 (BST)
  28. Keep - It'd make quite a good bit of sense, it's also a good idea too- I don't want to load 50 different tabs for maps, and the extensions don't ALWAYS work. ---Captain Leah- 14:33, 10 August 2006 (BST)
