SCfan7 19:43, 13 May 2007 (BST)
Suggestion type
Skill
Suggestion scope
Survivors
Suggestion description
New skills: "Martial Arts", "Martial Arts Mastery".
This skill, "Martial Arts" would function much like Hand-To-Hand combat. It would consist of two (2) skills, "Martial Arts" and "Martial Arts Mastery". "Martial Arts" would add 10% to your chance to hit and an additional 1 point of damage with 'punch', its subskill, "Martial Arts Mastery" would add 5% to your chance to hit, and add an additional 1 point of damage to the attack. This will work with Hand-To-Hand combat, and may be a subskill to it, or be on its own as a military skill.
This would appear (with all skills learned) in the game as: punch (40%, 3 dam)
May subject to change in accordance with BALANCE.

Keep Votes
- Keep - Allows survivors to be a pinch stronger, and frees some people from the ecumberance of the scores of blunt weaponry. Actually makes PUNCH, (and if a KICK is added) worth using. --SCfan7 19:48, 13 May 2007 (BST)
- Change - Ok, I am REALLY going out on a limb here, but this is an interesting suggestion. I'm a martial artist myself and I would enjoy being able to punch the carp out of some zombie who invaded my safehouse. Therefore, I suggest you add this to the talk page. I would love to see something like this implemented. --Hhal 00:15, 15 May 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - This might work. But I'm voting for kill, because this is pretty much the same as a fully upgraded fire axe. Also, karate and zombies don't really mix. -- Mordac the Refuser 20:29, 13 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - You can't make a punch / kick (with all its skill upgrades) as good as an ax or knife (with all its skill upgrades). There is a reason martial arts films feature people using weapons; given eqivalent mastery of the skills, the armed fighter is more deadly than the one who is unarmed. --Seb_Wiers VeM 20:41, 13 May 2007 (BST)
- Re - Actually, it has been recorded that trained martial artists have been able to generate the force of a 35 mile an hour car crash from a single kick. This by far is much more powerful than some makeshift form of weaponry. --SCfan7 01:13, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill -While I think the fist should be made more powerful it should not be better than a knife. How about 40%, 2 damage max. (martial arts would be +15% and the sub skill would be "boxing", for +1 damage. That would mean we have the axe, best mele weapon but 4% encumbrance, knife, a bit weaker but only 2%, and fist, even weaker but you don't need an item? --AlexanderRM 21:50, 13 May 2007 (BST) Actually, to stay with the UD thing where skills get gradually weaker as they go up, perhaps boxing could come first so x2.5, x2, and finnaly x1.6 --AlexanderRM 21:50, 13 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill Nah, Just out of character and not too usefull--Seventythree 22:01, 13 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Why have axes then? Good idea, but the fist is supposed to be weak; a last resort. Also, I don't see this out of genre. I think a lot of you just picture martial arts as super flying mega awesome dragon ninjas. It's not, just a way to make you fight better. --Heavy DDR 02:54, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Punching does little damage to zombies because punching would do little damage to zombies. --Sonofagun18 05:55, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- kill Make it weaker than an axe, and you've got my vote. - BzAli 08:43, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - it's nerfing fire axe --Duke GarlandLCD 08:54, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill Isn't there a punch? --JudeMaverick 10:02, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill Whoa whoa whoa. Fists>Knife? I don't think so. Fists are supposed to be the worst weapon in the game because they are default. No encumbrance and you always have them. If you want to buff them, that's one thing. But making them better than actual weapons that require inventory space? Nuh uh. It doesn't work from a believability standpoint either. No matter how much force you can put behind your fist, it's still not going to do as much damage as the same amount of force applied to a metal pipe or a blade. --Reaper with no name TJ! 19:12, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Out of genre in a big way, and other than slapping ninjas into the game, adds nothing. Maybe we could add some pirates too? Cutlass mastery anyone? -Rgon 19:35, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Sarcasm isn't very nice Rgon. Any way it'd be pretty cool, as I am a practicer of Jujitsu. But honestly, would you really be able to punch a zombie to death? It'd be kinda hard to destroy the brain, which is encased in the skull, which also is the strongest bone in your body, with your fist. Thats why we have weapons like the axe and the awesome new Fencing Foil.-- dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 02:10, 15 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - As the many people above me. - JedazΣT MC ΞD CT SR: 09:58, 15 May 2007 (GMT)
- I don't see what the big deal is about martial arts. It isn't like anyone is suggesting actual ninjas or anything. Problem here is the suggestion is overpowered. Maybe throw in a chance of infection or something (from doing so much damage at close contact).--Pesatyel 07:02, 17 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill -Martial arts are already in the game. And compared to the damage other types of attacks do, their damage and to hit % are correctly represented. At the same level of training any make shift weapon is far superior to no weapons at all. The limits of how far you can train in martial arts is also just as limited as any other weapon, makeshift or not.--Vista +1 17:55, 18 May 2007 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam Martial Art?! That is totally of genre.--User:Axe27/Sig 20:33, 13 May 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Totally out of genre. Blunt attacks aren't supposed to do much damage against zombies. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 07:56, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Out of Genre. --Saluton 14:38, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Spam - As above. And while we're at it, can we make a ninja class? --Poodle of doom 18:57, 14 May 2007 (BST)
- Above. And add in a Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee class while you're at that. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 12:37, 17 May 2007 (BST)
