Zombies killed by survivors.
Suggestion description
Full description. Check spelling and be descriptive.
I pitched this idea in the talk page as "Hatred for the Living" and got a reasonable amount of support. But it's been renamed as "Death Shriek" now.
A zombie with the "Death Shriek" skill lets loose a loud screeching noise when a survivor kills it. Zombies and Humans within six blocks can hear it. Basically, "Death Shriek" is pretty much the same as "Feeding Groan" - except it occurs (automatically) when a zombie is killed by a survivor. A zombie killed by another zombie will not make a death cry. (Also, jumping out a window doesn't produce a death shriek either). Death Shriek would be a sub-skill under "Feeding Groan".
Basic message system: -As you die, you hiss softly at the lone survivor in front of you. (1 survivor)
-You hiss loudly as you die. (2 survivors)
-You give a low and unsteady shriek as you die. (3 survivors)
-You give a deep and echoing shriek as you die. (4 survivors)
- As you die, you let loose a terrifying screech, your hate-filled cry echoing out into the streets. (5 or more survivors, indoors)
- As you die, you let loose a terrifying screech, your hate-filled cry echoing through the empty streets. (5 or more survivors, outdoors)
Death shrieks are heard by others as (for example): "You heard a loud and hateful shriek X blocks to the <direction>. (timestamp GMT)".
Anti-Spam stuff:
Death shrieks coming repeatedly from same area will simply be displayed as:
"You heard a loud and hateful shriek X blocks to the <direction>. (timestamp GMT)... and another (time)... and another (time)... etc," until a zombie dies in a different area.
Also, players will have the same ignore/filter options for Death Shriek as for feeding groans, raidos, and flares.
Like feeding groan, this skill would help newbie zombies find where the action is. It would also make it harder for Zombie Hunters to go around picking off wounded zombies without being detected.

- Keep - all looks good to me. --Seb_Wiers VeM 02:26, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Makes sense that a zombie would let out a shriek when it was killed. --Sonofagun18 06:33, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Seems reasonable.
- Keep - seems ok, although it seems to me that zombies aren't that type of creatures to produce shrilly yelps. Also, how would it look for players that are watching incident? "Player killed zombie and it screemed?" After more thought, i also think 6 blocks may be too much --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 11:30, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I like this idea. I could see how it might be problematic as spam, but I honestly don't see it as much of a problem. --Davurnium 16:53, 21 May 2007 (BST)
- keep - With the filtering option, I can't see any real reason to vote against this one. - BzAli 23:15, 28 May 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - A zombie dying on the streets doesn't mean much. They die all over Malton everyday. The information that certain quantities of Death Shrieks could grant you, even if you changed the format of the suggestion so it would only point to general directions, is outweighted by the spam they cause, and easily forgotten and replaced by more effective ways of obtaining info, namely Feeding Groans and Scent Death. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 04:11, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- before the filter out feeding groans etc. implement i would be against this because it would spam the game when you log in but i am against it because it seems pointless. The Last Saxon 09:10, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Just like what Matthewfarenheit said, zombies and survivors are dying at every second. I wouldn't want lots of death shrieks and I don't edit my profile regularly in case, a person who I want to ignore says something useful like "NT Building is in danger!" So give us a break for those lazy dudes out there --JudeMaverick W!TJ! 09:32, 18 May 2007 (BST)

- Kill Sorry, I just don't like this. --Seventythree 13:39, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill Imagine the spam --Da Axe Man 13:47, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Yeah, heaps of spam. Plus they do die all of the time, that's why they can just stand back up! --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 13:56, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I like it in concept, but it just looks like it would be a lot of meaningless spam. And, just as a point of curiosity how can a shriek be deep and echoing? Kinda makes it not a shriek at all, really. --Rgon 17:05, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill -I'm not hot for free actions and automated defenses. And as it is depended on the action of the survivor it takes away some of the certainty you have with feeding groan. Any survivor who'll kill a zombie with this skill will be sure to move away from the scene. Creating a lot of false shrieks. It would be a zombie version of a flare instead of a groan. And flares suck.--Vista +1 17:15, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Too much spam potential. And who ever heard of shrieking zeds? --Hhal 21:15, 18 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill I don't see any need for this. I would say at least 80% of zombies wake up dead every day, and assuming that half of those had this skill then it would get very irritating very fast. --Secruss 20:05, 28 May 2007 (BST)
- Kill If we keep it, we have two ways of playing this game. Way number one includes logging into a large amount of meaningless garble. Survivors move when they kill a zombie, Feeding Groan works because zombies have a chance to actually get to the survivors. Way number two includes playing the game the same way as it has been. SgtBop 10:57, 3 June 2007 (BST)
- Kill - As Vista said. And Vista, flares don't suck. They can be used to make pretty lights ^^. Anyone ready for the Second Extravaganza yet? A dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 02:29, 4 June 2007 (BST)
