Suggestion description
This is a simple and easy to implement, but very helpful, tweak. When you are logged in, there is currently a list of links to pages like the Wiki, the FAQ page, etc. I suggest adding a link to the Urban Dead map to the list of links. Currently, you hav to go to the Wiki, and then click on the map link. This may not seem like a big difference, but people who don't go to th Wiki, especially new players, may not even know there is a map. This could ave them a lot of time and frustration.

- Keep - Yeah, making map easier to acces is good, i think that it also should appear in "navigation" or "community" tab on wiki. but that goes to wiki suggestions. --KiT 13:44, 19 July 2007 (BST)

- Keep - But which map? UD has like3 major maps hosted by different people offering different things. --Sonny Corleone RRF CoL DORIS CRF pr0n 14:18, 19 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep - As someone new to this game, the task of comprehending what is going on is daunting. Even a link to a menu of maps would be productive Ghoustra 11:51, 19 July 2007 (EST)
- Keep/Change - The newbies aren't going to go to the wiki, find maps, and bookmarklet them! THINK OF THE POOR NEWBIES! And it should link to a list of maps, so Kevan doesn't have to play favorites like people in kill said. Pretty sure there's a list in the wiki somewhere. --Wooty 17:14, 19 July 2007 (BST)
- Keep - It has always seemed kind of weird not to see a map in-game. -- Nob666 22:59, 19 July 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes
- Kill - As Sonny said, but as a reason to kill. None of the maps was made by Kevan, so its bad to ask him to "play favorites" that way. And yes, its no small coincidence that I vote this way and my site hosts a new map. Try it, you'll be happy you had the chance, rather than getting 'locked in' to an existing map via a link in the game.
Also, the "problem" this addresses is inanely easy to solve. Have you ever heard of a bookmark / favorites list? Did you know you can put them on your toolbar? Did you know you can use Bookmarklets coding to make any bookmark always open in a new window? And hell, half the extensions out there already give you a link to map, generally by changing the title bar that shows the suburb name into a map link. User configurable solutions (and in this case, user created solutions) almost always are better than hard-coded ones. . . . swiers 15:17, 19 July 2007 (BST)- I can think of two solutions to that: 1. Add a drop down list of maps or something to that effect. or 2.Make one basic map with a list of link to other maps, like an official, but basic, UD map. Newbies will probably stick wth the simple map for a while, and people will eventually migrate to their preferred maps. Plus, it's another link leading to your map, one that lots of people will see. And, on the bookmark note, the newbies can bookmark a map, but by ading the map button they know there is a map in the first place.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Viceroy Chili Cheese Dog (talk • contribs) at an unknown time.
- A (fairly simple) official map with links to metagame info (or at least a bit more explanation on what the wiki is and encouragement to read it) would probably be a good idea, yes. Would probably also be a dupe- I know I've seen several "in game map" suggestions. One of the more interesting ones was a recent one from Funt Solo that had you actually searching for maps, one for each suburb. It might be cool to re-visit that idea, only with a mechanic similar to clothing; namely, you just need to visit various buildings to "unlock" the map for that suburb. Hard to keep the flavor and make it fair to zombies, though; it seems unlikely that zombies could read a map, although players obviously can. Maybe zombies could pass knowledge directly to other zombies, as they would carry the odor of recently visited locations. . . . swiers 19:52, 21 July 2007 (BST)

- Kill - wiki.urbandead.com; IWitness; Bookmark; etc.; etc... I hate to say it, because I'm all about protecting the newbies... but if they can't even click the link to the Wiki to learn more about the game, then they are hooped/zombie food/headshot-fodder --Ryiis 19:03, 19 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Newbies that don't read the wiki are basically dead newbies anyway. -- SgtBopTalk|Maris Viridis 19:52, 19 July 2007 (BST)

- Kill - Truthfully, if you got some moron who's too lazy to do a little bit of research, then he doesn't deserve a map. Nalikill 04:18, 22 July 2007 (BST)
- Kill All arguments are valid points, but I have yet to see one (maybe I over looked it sorry) that mentions the insame amount of LAG Wiki would recieve. While new players need to read as much as possible on here to better themselves in UD, but, if they can't read right under the log in button, what makes this any easier for them? Also it is a dupe, everyone knows how tough it is to see if there idea is original or not though. --XxPale HorsexX 10:51, 31 July 2007 (BST)

- Dupe - This has been suggested before. I still don't like it and it's an easy solution to bookmark your preferred map. 'arm. 15:10, 27 July 2007 (BST)

- Dupe - A nice idea, but it would be a bit risky to make a prominent link to an external site that Kevan has no control over. -- T 10:07, 31 July 2007 (BST)
