20071011 Suicide for Zombies

Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 20:34, 11 October 2007 (BST)

Suggestion type
game mechanic change, practically flavour

Suggestion scope
zombies

Suggestion description
Currently when a zombie jumps from a tall building, he just ends up outside the building, standing like nothing had happened.

I suggest zombies would be able to kill themselves by jumping from a tall building, similar to survivors. When you jump from a building, it can cause as much as 60 points of damage. This is much more than any attack in the game and thus leads to severe trauma to the zombie. Because of this, the zombie will have only 25HP after standing up (the limit for the "wounded"-state, not affected by Body Building).

Some zombies might use this to escape a potential headshot, but if they hadn't committed suicide, they might have gotten killed without getting a headshot, or not gotten killed at all. It's a gamble, because they always have to use at least two AP (jumping and standing up). And they'd have to be inside a tall building to get away with only 2AP. If they're outside, they have to be within two blocks of an unbarricaded tall building to get any possible advantage from it. If the building is barricaded even once (loosely), they would take an average of 4AP to take it down (maxed claws are 50%, halved to 25%) which would make it ineffective (unbarricade (~4AP) + enter (1AP) + jump (1AP) + stand up (1AP) = ~7AP vs 6AP from headshot).

So, all in all, this would practically be a flavour addition, though in certain special cases it would have an uncertain advantage for a zombie who doesn't care if he's low on HP when he stands up.

  3. Very Weak Keep - Sockem, don't be a jackass. BoboTalkClown 21:45, 11 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Keep largely pointless, but in a good way. Like a Yorkshire Terrier. --Pavluk A! E! 23:08, 11 October 2007 (BST)
  5. To Peer Undecide! Why not buff Zombie Ninjas? Let the game become even more messed up.--ShadowScope 23:30, 11 October 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes

  1. Kill This suggestion is pointless, filth, and shit. Zeds already get ?rise. Hows that for justify bitch? Sockem 20:40, 11 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Kill - There are lots of survivor and zombie tricks that are considered less than fair, but they balance eachother out.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 21:04, 11 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Kill - Zombies should not be able to kill themselves. Its utterly pointless. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 22:14, 11 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Kill - I can sort of see why survivors might kill themselves (maybe out of sheer horror ect.) But zombies are supposed to be (mostly) mindless creatures. I don't see why they would be motivated to kill themselves.--SeventythreeTalk 23:54, 11 October 2007 (BST)
  5. Kill - Concur with Grim_s and Seventythree --Pgunn 03:41, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Kill - Smart zombies end their turns inside to waste survivor AP, and if they're about to get killed, start spamming ?rise. Hopeless suggestion is hopeless. Slicer 03:51, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  7. Kill - As Seventythree, zeds committing suicide, at least intentionally, is out-of-genre. --Sonofagun18 05:45, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  8. Kill - 73 and Slicer make good points. --ZombieSlay3rSig.pngT 16:06, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  9. Kill Zombies would be able to kill themselves to prevent survivors from being able to earn experience. This would greatly harm scientist and combat players trying to level up as it would prevent them from finding as many standing zeds. --Jon Pyre 17:42, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  10. Kill - Zombies can escape a headshot by moving into another square. Like normal people do. Plus, 5 AP isn't game breaking. This isn't the LOL YOU JUST LOST ALL YOUR XP days. Crazylilvietguy 07:50, 14 October 2007 (BST)

Spam/Dupe Votes

  1. Spam - It's either useless or broken depending on your point of view. Zombie ninjas are bad, but other then that committing suicide is completely and utterly pointless. especially with the 1/2 health thing because it just means that much less AP to be killed and headshot.--Karekmaps?! 20:59, 11 October 2007 (BST)
That's zombie ninjas with 25HP, outside and in limited locations. Which is to say they're worse ninjas than just regular corpses. As I said, this is mainly for flavour and as such is supposed to be pretty pointless. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 21:02, 11 October 2007 (BST)
I'm of the mind that this is absolute crap(saying that a lot today), the people who need to use it are screwed over in doing it because they have 25 HP and have to spend 10 AP to stand back up, those would be people without Ankle Grab who are worried about being headshot, everyone else really gains nothing beyond hiding from survivors who are too stupid to check # of bodies.--Karekmaps?! 21:08, 11 October 2007 (BST)
  2. Spam- Ah told jou, zhat zhis vould be shpammed.  Nalikill  TALK  E!  W!  M!  USAI  23:15, 11 October 2007 (BST)
  3. Spam-o-matic - As per karek and 73 --WanYao 00:58, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  4. Spam-dupe-ish -As per others. This would also make it way, WAY harder for combat survivors to gain XP (and they aren't all going to become trenchcoaters. Anyway, trenches are quite useful for clearing buildings, leaving the useful, smart people more AP to heal/barricade/revive etc.) --AlexanderRM 02:41, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  5. Spam - As said above. -J. A. 03:06, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  6. Spam So, the only reason to do this is so that avoid headshot? How is this not spam when all the other "play dead" style suggestions, which this is one, all were spammed?--Pesatyel 03:48, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  7. Spam – As Karek. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 08:06, 12 October 2007 (BST)
  8. Spam - As all above. -- John RubinT! ZG FER 10:21, 12 October 2007 (BST)
