20071014 No Suicide for Zombies
Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 10:37, 14 October 2007 (BST)
Suggestion type
game mechanic/UI fix
Suggestion scope
zombies
Suggestion description
Currently when a zombie jumps from a tall building, he just ends up outside the building, standing like nothing had happened.
The easiest solution: remove the suicide button for zombies.
Currently it's just a 2 IP version version of the Leave Building button, so this wouldn't remove any gameplay mechanisms.
EDIT (11:53, 14 October 2007 (BST)): Didn't know you couldn't leave to the same square without jumping if the building's overcaded, but survivors can't do it either and it's only one extra AP. Also, if zombies need an extra skill just to open doors, how would they be able to open the windows? Tall buildings usually have child-proof windows (and thus, zombie-proof, they lack the dexterity).

- Keep - Makes sense. Sockem 17:56, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Why would a zombie suicide? --Pgunn 19:19, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep/ Change he has a point zombies do not suicide... But however instead of jumping button there can be a walk button and instead of a zombie jumping it says " You stagger towards the window and loose your balance and break threw the window ..You fall on the hard pavement below... Of course that button would be only for zombies... Humans would have the Normal Jump button..Well Thats if you wanna make the game accurate that is --Johnny Reb 22:54, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - How is this helpful to zack? It's pointless, anyway, and you spend six AP (I think) getting up, a waste. Glenstone 05:04, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Makes sense, after all, zombies wouldn't commit suicide. --Sonofagun18 05:32, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Weak Keep - If zeds are committing suicide, maybe we should setup some kind of suicide prevention hotline? Ah well, just remember, it's down the street, not across the road. --Ryiis 15:12, 16 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep Is their depression caused by their % of game pop? ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 04:08, 17 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep It would be annoying to accidently click the button and kill yourself while a zombie, wasting 11 AP. --Shatterspike1 23:58, 18 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep- Sheesh kill voters, why don't you just move to an adjacent block instead of jumping from a window?--Vkkhamul 00:31, 19 October 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill - Flavour. Sometimes i enjoy jumping out the window for flavour purposes. Besides, its the only way to leave the building into the block if its caded. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 10:48, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Wait, couldn't you just move to another adjacent block? (Still undecided on what to vote btw)--Vkkhamul 01:17, 16 October 2007 (BST)
- I think he meant that it's the only way to exit into the same square the building is in. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 06:16, 16 October 2007 (BST)
- It still would cost much less AP to move to an adjacent square, then move back into the same square. --Shatterspike1 23:58, 18 October 2007 (BST)

- Kill - As Grim (What the hell? did I just say that? I feel dirty). The first part is fun and the second part is handy --Gene Splicer 10:54, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Mrh? --Funt Solo 11:24, 14 October 2007 (BST) The author has contacted me and asked me to justify my note, under threat of deletion. Roughly translated, I think this means "please waste more of your time than is necessary on voting negatively on my suggestion". Welllllll, okay, then, Mr Midianian - here I am, to waste more of my time, at your behest. Where to begin, though, eh? That's the question. What is justification? I think your suggestion is poor. Is that enough? I think it deserves a kill vote. Is that passable? I agree with Gene. Is my hanging on his justified coat tails going to cut the mustard? One can only hope so. As one might hope that you, Mr Midianian, just take my "Mrh?" at face value next time and not insist on further justification. Rest assured, you got a Kill vote purely on the merits (or lack thereof) of your suggestion, as opposed to the random whim of my mind. --14:32, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Yes, I asked you to spend a couple of minutes thinking on the suggestion. I doubt those minutes were of life threatening importance. Unjustified votes are invalid and I will request people who haven't justified their votes to do so. This is not because I want to annoy you, but because I want to know what you think is wrong with the suggestion. Next time, if you agree with someone, then say so and all this will be avoided. Also, I would prefer just Midianian. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 19:49, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Of course, it turned out that those minutes I wasted prevented me deactivating the bomb in time - and now we're all doomed. I hope you feel suitably guilty and accept your wrongness on the chin, Captain Mr Midianianianian, Sah! I will of course follow all your reasonable and totally uncondescending orders with similar subserviance, as befits one of your mighty intellect. I'd also like to take this opportunity to apologise for being a lesser being than you, and also on behalf of the rest of the human race, who are clearly beneath your mightiness. All hail Mr Midianianianianian! Also, I love you. --Funt Solo 23:12, 14 October 2007 (BST)

- Kill - It's raining zombies.....--SeventythreeTalk 11:25, 14 October 2007 (BST) Hmm. Ok, Justification. Well, Grim_s has a point, It's a good way to leave if you're trapped, and to be honest, it's just a bit funny realy. Hence the It's raining zombies thing.--SeventythreeTalk 11:47, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - While I think zombies shouldn't be able to jump out a second story window for no cost, I don't think that removing the option is the way to go. They should at least fall heavily, and do some damage to themselves. At least the warning that it will kill you should be removed for zombies (because it bloody well doesn't kill you) -- boxy • talk • 12:29 14 October 2007 (BST)
- weak kill - not because i hate your suggestion, but because agree with grim. --WanYao 15:29, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - I like to vote kill. Better now? ;).-- dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 15:31, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Boxy has quite a good point. It would be best to add a health cost (maybe 15 or 20 HP) instead of removing the function completely. --T 17:55, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- If Grim s wants to jump out of buildings, why not?--ShadowScope 19:06, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Weak Kill - I agree with grim. (EWWWgetitoffgetitoffgetitoff) -- BoboTalkClown 19:36, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Only slightly less crappy then every other no zombie suicide suggestion.--Karekmaps?! 19:49, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Quick! Out the window! My Zombie character's signature is infecting everybody in the room, shouting "BARHAH!" and then making a dramatic/stupid (dramatically stupid?) escape through the window. I know it's not terribly usefull, but it's a great flavor action, and one of the few that Zombies can actually use. --Steakfish 00:25, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - But it doesn't make sense! I can fall out a window just as easy as when alive!-- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 19:06, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill – Unnecessary. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 07:09, 17 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill I actually like the option to suicide as a zombie. Even if it's out of genre, even if it's not whatever. I still like it dammit! :D--the one, the only, sushiknight (talk contribs HARD E.N.D.) 06:27, 18 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill Sorry, but it's completely unnecessary. The only reason for the change is flavor (which is a valid reason for editing UD, for sure), but there's a million other flavor-edits that I can think of before this one. --Psiborg 01:49, 20 October 2007 (BST)
- What freaking part of "Completely unnecessary" is so hard for you to understand? This is not just a flavor-edit, it is a stupid and innately worthless flavor-edit that serves no purpose. And yes, this edit is so without merit that I can think of other worthless edits that would be better done before this; that is not me voting kill because I want another bad idea first, that is me voting kill because it is a bad idea. Bad because it gives absolutely nothing of merit to the game. Now I don't want to hear back with another "please reconsider your vote." I was trying to be bloody polite, and vote "kill" without flat-out saying it's a stupid idea. --Psiborg 17:15, 20 October 2007 (BST)
- Yeah, I was trying to be polite too. No need to get hostile. And I would refer you to Suggestion_Voting_Dos_and_Do_Nots#Unneeded. The purpose of this suggestion is to remove the completely stupid game mechanic of jumping out of a building and coming out with absolutely no effect, so this does serve a purpose. --Midianian|T|T:S|C:RCS| 19:36, 20 October 2007 (BST)
