Whiteboards Mk.II
Type: Building change: Schools
Scope: Survivors, mostly. But theoretically everyone.
Description:
Many (all?) schools have whiteboards in their flavour text, so why not let us use them?
Whiteboards would be found only in Schools. They are not portable, but a part of the building. Whiteboards in schools would basically be a glorified, new and improved indoor billboard.
How it works... In front of a whiteboard you can either add a line of text (erasing the oldest line) to the whiteboard, or erase out the oldest line of text by entering blank text. Each line would cost 1 AP. You'd get as much space per line to write in as with a radio broadcast. The text would appear up top in the building descriptions, like graffiti. There would be between 6-10 lines per board, sorry I don't have a solid number in mind. .
Zombies would have the option of erasing everything on a whiteboard for 1 AP, but not writing on it. They can read it of course. Ransacking a School would also wreck the text on the whiteboard automatically.
This turns an otherwise non-descript building into a potential organisational hub. But an optional one. And, think about it... In emergencies, schools are very often emergency centres. They are mentioned as such in the canonical zombie flicks... It would also have a certain synergy with this if it gets implimented... ;P
The only problem is it might give people yet another way to grief, and an excuse to PK. But it'd be done anonymously, just like graffiti. And it'd cost at least 6 AP to wipe an entire board... And, spam is not an issue with this, because it'd be something added up near the building's flavour text... there's no way to spam this the same way as the radio, because the number of lines is limited.
(Please forgive me if I have done this wrong! It's my first suggestion I've put up for for voting!)

Keep Votes
- Keep/Slight Change - Sounds good, but one text line is enough. --Sonofagun18 05:43, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Only one line of text kind of defeats the purpose and function of the whiteboard... However, since you don't have to search for an item to use it, I can see your point... I'm open to it being below 6 lines, but I feel just oone line is a bit too big of a nerf, making it almost pointless. --WanYao 06:19, 13 October 2007 (BST)

- Keep - Yup. Sounds schoolish-- Savant Chit-Chat 11:25, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Interesting.--Perne 12:07, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep I have no major objection to this since it'd be included in the building description, AP cost doesn't prevent spam but at least means it's not free, and this gives survivors a reason to hole up in schools instead of clusterfucking in TRPs. --Slightly Lions 13:37, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Still a great idea. -J. A. 17:32, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - This is your first suggestion?! Great job! --Hhal 19:26, 13 October 2007 (BST)

- Keep - As everyone else. Also, as a tip, don't antagonize the kill voters. Sarcasm is never a good idea. --MrCoolantSpray 20:37, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Sure, makes schools unique.-- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 21:07, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - No longer ridiculous, kinda cool. --Pgunn 03:35, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Like the idea of another kind of graffiti, the one you can put some useful information on and not only one line. Graffiti is a good way to send a message to the group of survivors, but ONLY one, and if you put a new message, you simply erase the old one. But this variant will allow to put 6-10 messages, like barricade policy AND the revive policy AND a recently sight PK's AND ... I really like it --Kaipirinha 06:49, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Especially good for someone's first suggestion --Gene Splicer 10:48, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- For the record, I've been hanging around the Suggestions pages a lot... and have learned what does and doesn't works. So, technically, I have some "experience". And I farked up uploading and formatting it at first, so didn't know if I was making a big mess or what... --WanYao 12:30, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Well, this is good.--SeventythreeTalk 11:26, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I like it. A little bit of rare message flavor, much like billboards.--Wooty 15:19, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - A good idea, a little advice though. Don't bother trying to justify your ideas to people who vote kill, people here are a tad stuck in their ways. edit : Forgot to sign!--Etherdrifter 15:34, 16 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - It's good, and would be even better if you could draw pictures on it. --Uncle Bill 20:00, 14 October 2007 (BST)

- Keep/Change – I think it would make sense if these could also be found in offices (Buildings), but I acknowledge that NTs are Buildings and this may be an unpopular buff to them. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 14:00, 18 October 2007 (BST)
- I thought of that, and it's logical, putting them in offices. But I rejected it. I don't want it to be too common, and I wanted it to be specifically a "schooly thing"... and to give a small in-game use and specificity to a building that is otherwise just like every other non-descript... --WanYao 17:08, 18 October 2007 (BST)
- Y'think? Schools are probably the best source of spraycans, while office buildings are… uhh… popular jumping spots? Wow, that's really useful to survivors… ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 12:21, 22 October 2007 (BST)
- Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't Auto Shops better sources of spray cans than Schools? As for you other comment, respectfully, I don't understand what you're getting at... --WanYao 15:29, 23 October 2007 (BST)

Kill Votes
- Kill - too complicated with the multiple lines, plus you don't specify, but is this only visible from inside? Also, this is just providing another graffiti type, isn't it? --Funt Solo 11:09, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- It's not complicated at all, it'd be very simple in practice. And I guess I didn't specify whether it was seen indoors or outdoors -- but I think that's quite self-evident, no? Especially since I called it an "indoor billboard", and given all the talk about "indoors", "inside", "in schools"... and ransack wrecking them (you don't ransack the outside of buildings, do you? no.), etc. Just in case you still haven't caught on: it's seen indoors. And, yes, the descriptions even says that this is like graffiti or billboards, but a special version found in schools only. Hope that clarifies. --WanYao 14:59, 13 October 2007 (BST)
- Zzzzzzzzz...huh? Wazzamadda? More graffiti? No thanks. --Funt Solo 01:47, 14 October 2007 (BST)
