Suggestion description
A new field in the Profile screen, entitled "Birthday". Can only be editted once, and lists day and month only. This can be your birthday or your character's birthday.
Your first action after tickover on your birthday results in the message "You stumble over a small box. Someone left you a present! You pick it up." (your AP for the action is returned to you) It enters your inventory as a 0 encumberence item.
Survivors: When clicked on, you receive the following message:
"The Present contains (20% chance loaded shotgun, 20% chance loaded pistol, 20% two FAKs, 20% revive syringe, 20% 1 pistol ammo and 1 shotgun ammo). Happy Birthday!"
The Present item then vanishes and you gain the listed Item(s).
Zombies:
"A Box" appears as the top targettable item in your attack dropdown list. Attacking it results in one of the following messages:
If the Zombie is on 44AP or below, the zombie gets the message "You open the present to find: Pickled Brains! You get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Because you ate them". The zombie instantly gains 6AP and their present vanishes.
If the Zombie is on 45 AP or higher, you get the message ""You open the present to find: Pickled Brains! You decide to save them for later". You regain the 1ap you spent on attacking it, and you retain your present.

Keep Votes
- Keep Everyone likes free stuff, and it's only once a year. I'd say "That's too good, make it so you can get dumb things, too." But it's not like it happens often. Also, you should get to wear a birthday party hat. =D --LumiReaver 12:07, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - my justification is the suggestion itself. Do you need more, because I'm kinda busy mopping things up on Klandathu right now. --Funt Solo 14:43, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep -Justifying my vote is against my religion. Sorry.--Wooty 15:17, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Makes sense. In wartimes, people do occasionally arrange to be happy. Ever heard of "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you will die?" Let us residents of Malton have our birthdays. Free ammo, once a year? Not exactly game-breaking. --MrCoolantSpray 18:32, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Humorously realistic, interesting flavor. --Private Mark 19:15, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Weak Keep - The wiki member who cried vandalism. BoboTalkClown 19:38, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Who could vote against having a birthday present. Everyone loves presents. Tfox 22:30, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep Ahh Sounds alright... I guess I will vote keep --Johnny Reb 22:57, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- keep - make it so new characters birthday are the same as their creation day. existing characters should get a random birthday as otherwise a whole heap will choose the day after it is introduced!!! --Honestmistake 01:51, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I like this. There should be something to announce that it is your birthday. Like a party hat that you cannot take off till your birthday is over or something. doc crook 03:53, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Weak Keep - Harmless. I'm about to vote kill/spam because it's sorta pointless. Glenstone 05:07, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Weak Keep/Change- I already have enough guns and ammo, the whole birthday idea is preety cool, but i think maybe survivors who've shown bravery etc. during a seige or an assault should be rewarded somehow.... Captain Neo 18.56, 15th of October 2007
- Keep - As Honestmistake and MrCoolantSpray. --Toejam 01:31, 16 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep But add some stupid presents, too. You know: Crucifix, Museum Piece, etc. And maybe something dumb and useless for a Zed, to! (Hey there, Greenie! Wanna Baseball Bat?) ~A`Blue`JellyTME*V*I*L*? 04:14, 17 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - A nice little small advantage that could be very useful, once a year. Will zombies recive something as well?--Shatterspike1 00:05, 19 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - I can easily see someone giving a fellow a small present on their birthday, and in a war game, this would make perfect sense. It's not overpowered either.--Kolechovski 15:28, 23 October 2007 (BST)
- Keep - Kill voters don't like fun. it's true--Rictor Stilwell 02:44, 24 October 2007 (BST)
Kill Votes
- Kill Takes a little of the realism away. Also, surely You open the present and find a rather horrible tasteless pair of musical socks and a loofah, bought for you in spite off the fact that you live in a flat with a shower and no bath. You smile warmly and make a mental note to drop in at Oxfam next time you're in town. would be more realistic?--SeventythreeTalk 11:57, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Change- Make it a useless but fun flavour item of some sort, not a useful one. Like music socks that come up on your profile, heh... And, contrary to the haters, this ia an amusing suggestion, yes, but a real one. IMNSHO it belongs here, not in Humourous Suggestions. And, why the hell not give people presents? People do it in war zones all the time... And, zombies and survivors should be able to give each other presents... "A zombie gives you a present. It is his ear, with a bow tied clumsily in police tape." But he couldn't blow out the candles on the cake, being dead and all, so he ate your bra!nz. HABBAH B!RRAH!! =D --WanYao 15:47, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Unrealistic. Hallmark did not survive the disaster. --Pgunn 19:20, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - no. --~~~~ [talk] 20:00, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill- What if they were too heavily encumbered to open the box and take the items? Again, highly unrealistic--Vkkhamul 22:45, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Mostly because it gives too much to humans, very little to zeds, and it's unrealistic..- ParisV-W 22:59, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill/Change - One small problem. Zombies can't use items. The whole inventory thing is just not there as long as you are dead. If you obtained "pickled brains" or whatever, you wouldn't be able to use them later, unless you got revived (and I don't think survivors eat pickled brains). --Steakfish 04:38, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- You misread it. --LumiReaver 11:07, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - Just wait for Kevan's yearly chopper supply drop thingies.--Jiangyingzi 14:43, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Kill - as above. --Pavluk A! E! 14:55, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Weak Kill - This is a nice little perk in MMRPG games like Star Wars Galaxies, WoW, or City of Heroes, but seems a lot out of place in an apocolyptic setting. The free benefit is a little too much also. If it were a special item of clothing or something like that, I'd say ok.--Actingupagain 16:31, 15 October 2007 (BST)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Spam - Blah, this is an apocalypse -- boxy • talk • 12:25 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Humourous - Shouldnt be on this page. Read suggestions rule 10. --The Grimch U! E! WAT! 12:47, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Re - "10. Suggestions created entirely for the purpose of satire, insult, or comedy" This is neither. This is an Event suggestion, keyed to individual characters. It's no more "humourous" than Urban Dead anniversary events, halloween events, or any other Specific Day events. If you dislike it that's one thing, but crying Vandalism is pretty serious --Gene Splicer 14:32, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - Who the hell would go out of their way to get someone else a present, with thousands of zombies milling about?-- dǝǝɥs oʇ ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 15:19, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - As Grim. And no free lunch. Sockem 16:28, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - It should be in humorous suggestions. --T 17:56, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Basically randomly buffs Harmans and Zarmans in seiges. It's a free 'buff' really, that will be saved until you really need it (and trust me, IT WILL). Plus, if that buff comes every single year, and you can "SAVE" said buff...wow...Plus, it would break the flavor.--ShadowScope 19:08, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Humerous - It's either a joke or absurd stupidity, your choice.--Karekmaps?! 19:50, 14 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - I liked the idea, it made me smile (and i am still smilling as i write this), but, sadly, this has no place inside the game. --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:42, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- and... BTW, what is keeping me from changing my b-day to tomorrow, so i always get a new present in the next day ? --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 04:44, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - This is pretty much just udder nonsense. --Sonofagun18 05:20, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - As boxy. -- John RubinT! ZG 10:08, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- BIRTHDAY SPAM - We got a lot of players in UD.That mean everyday we will have bunch of zeds and human suddenly become extremely powerful.--Perne 10:29, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - As boxeeeeeeee.-- AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 18:58, 15 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam - "Now, Officer Rabbit and I are going to stand here and watch you smoke the whole thing..." "Please no." As boxy -Ryiis 14:53, 16 October 2007 (BST)
- Spam – As Hagnat. ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾᚨᚾᛏ 14:03, 18 October 2007 (BST)
