Suggestion description
With all the rampant murders amongst the survivors of the zombie outbreak, people have learnt to be suspicious of those they do not recognise, watching them for any abnormal behaviour.
You can now Watch objects in the same area as you. You select a target via. a drop down menu.
Valid targets include entranceways, people, zombies, generators, transmitters and barricades.
Watching an object will prevent you from noticing anything else happening in the room (other than game news and lights off/on, that's too hard to miss).
There are two kinds of watching, Standard and Covert. Standard reduces your AP gain to 1AP an hour, but the person being watched will get a notice saying that they are being watched by you. Covert will not deliver that message 50% of the time, but you will not gain AP whilst watching them.
Whilst watching a person (survivor/zombie), you observe every action they take, including searching for items, using First Aid Kits, attacks and other things that you otherwise would miss. Watching barricades will allow you to see who adds to them (if done inside) and who demolishes them ,if you are on the same side of the barricade as the attacker. If you are on the opposite side of the barricade to the attacker (you're inside, they're outside for example), you will notice a drop in the barricade level, but not who did it. Watching generators will allow you to see who attacks and fuels generators. Watching transmitters will allow you to see who transmits signals, and who attacks the transmitter. Watching entranceways will allow you to see who barricades past VSB2+ (if inside), and give you a notice when people enter or leave a room.
Watching is active for as long as you do not move your character (unless you go inactive, in which case it will be broken) and your target is still visible. If any action is performed, the target goes away (barricades taken down, person killed or leaves, generator/transmitter destroyed, entrances over-barricaded) or if the building loses power and goes dark, then you will receive a message saying that your observation of the target has been broken, and the watching state will be annuled at which point AP gain and event messages will return to normal. Nothing happens if the target returns.

- Keep - While many may never use this skill, the coding wouldn't be to hard (It just posts the person you are watchings actions to you "things that happened since last turn" list. the potential for spaming is nil due to the fact that the persons actions are posted to the watchers page and no one else's. The potential for multi abuse is low but present in that they might use several accounts to watch several things. (on the other hand try naming anything that doesn't have multi-abuse potential). There are a few problems however. Most of these stem from an over complication of the idea. I would remove "zombies" from the list of eligable targets since the only thing zombies do once they get into a room is attack and ruin. The other main over complication I see is having 2 different modes of watching. consider removing the "covert mode", this is needlessly complex. The last problem I see is a common one on this wiki. You nerfed your own idea. Is it to much to say that when I see the guy that I was watching earlier walk back into the building I'm staying at that I start watching him again? And why can't I see who barricades before VSB2+? I want to know who helped the team when the barricades got beaten down to LB. In the end a solid basis for a new ability that gives neither side an unfair advantage in this great conflict while still giving players one more way to play the game. --User:karanod 1552, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Kill Votes
- Kill - This would provide too much text involuntarily. Since you don't lose AP, and you just don't gain it, people could use this to spam people's pages continuously. Also, it would be pretty pointless, because if someone saw the message, they'd leave the room and return, meanign you wouldn't be able to watch them any longer. Basically, it's pointless and overbearing. Yonnua Koponen 07:29, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill - People shouldn't be watched if they don't want to. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 09:15, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill I can't think of any legitimate reason for this. Gaining little no AP means its probably only going to be used by zerg accounts to spy for other characters.. The ability to keep a closer eye on what others are doing is possibly very usefull but with costs as high as this it just cannot work. --Honestmistake 10:44, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill - Standard watching is pointless as the target can just move to another location and back before they do anything, and covert watching is way too unreliable and expensive to be of any real use. Watching individual people is pretty much pointless anyway. Watching entrances would probably be too server-heavy, and separating radios and generators just makes it more useless to watch them. Also, you can already see who transmits with the radio. In short, I like mine better. --Midianian Big Brother Diary Room: [511,10] 11:07, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill - nice work on the balance stuff, but really this is just too flawed as an idea and imho against the nature of ud.--xoxo 11:36, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill, this would cause to much spam. --Angusburger 17:14, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

- Kill Just... slightly useless. At least, I would never use it.--Rachel Akebre 07:31, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill Useless. --William Told 08:37, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill Too complicated --Explodey 11:39, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Kill I don't like the idea of messing with the AP rate -- Yungblood 17:12 November 21, 2008 (EST)
- Kill - I think it's a bit too complicated, and similar ideas have already been tried, but to no success. --ZsL 14:26, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Spam/Dupe Votes
- Dupe - This is for cades. This is for attacks. Also, Observation version 1 and Version 2. You really need to be taking stuff like this to Talk:Suggestions. -- . . <== DDR Approved Editor 16:42, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- One, it's Developing Suggestions now. Two, I did (See the Discussion page). Had you, or anyone else, brought up those dupes I would have refrained from suggesting. Observation V2 was brought up by Midianian, but he considered it as 'borderline' and as such I disregarded it. In any case I see the possible zerging abuses, and perhaps if this doesn't make it a later version will have observation as a skill, with covert observation as a subskill of that. --Blake Firedancer T E RNL?
