Lee Enfield Bolt Action Rifle
Timestamp: | Gilson 18:14, 19 September 2006 (BST) |
Type: | Firearm/weapon |
Scope: | Survivors |
Description: | Right. Please note, that despite the word up there is Rifle, it is not an Ak47 or M16. This is an old fashioned, bolt action rifle. The point behind this weapon, (in my eyes) is simple. We believe that Malton is in England right? So where better to find an English rifle! I'm also going on the grounds that this is set in the 1950's/60's when it was more available. If not, well, Maltons in America where you can find more guns.
The Lee Enfield Bolt Action Rifle was in British service for at least 80 years, and over 7 million were made. My suggestion is that a few are in a forts Armoury, hence the rifle will only be found in forts. This provides survivors the excuse to actually take and hold a fort for long periods of time, as you will only be able to find the actual gun there. I suggest a 3-5% chance of finding the gun in the Armoury, with a further 6-8% of finding a clip of ammo in an armoury, the same for a police station (this is a maybe, as Rifles may have been planned to be issued to cops in a riot) and 6/8% in malls (this was, afterall, a very common rifle for sometime.)
Ammunition for the rifle comes in 5 round strips. In the menu, it would just state you have two strips. When reloading the gun, it adds 5 rounds of ammo into the gun, until its fully loaded (much like the pistol of now) Say you have a rifle that has 4 rounds in it already. You would need to click the strip twice to load it fully. The first strip would make it 9 rounds, the last one 10. Either our man has removed the extra 4 rounds from the Rifle, or he has removed it from the strip, and dropped the remaining 4 rounds. Who knows, I dont go into details about game mechs.
The accuracy of the rifle in a new player would be 10% instead of 5%. My reason behind this is because that this is not a shotgun, with its mule like kickback, nor an uncontrolable handgun. The Lee Enfield is also a pretty damn fine gun when it comes to accuracy anyway. I am not suggesting any additional skills to go along with the Rifle, just use in conjunction with the Shotgun skills. This means when all shotgun skills are bought, the accuracy is 70%
The strength of the weapon is not the death dealing machine that a few people want. I reconmend a strength that does 7 damage without flackjacket. THis is to represent the fact that a Rifle doesnt have the sheer strength and power of a double barreled shotgun. With a jacket, I suggest damage to be 5.
This weapon is not meant to be the shotgun replacement. It is only meant to be a bridge between the two, and a reason to hold an Armoury at last. All my suggestions and stats and open to alteration if the users deem it so. |

- Keep - I am the designer of this idea, and think its a worthy contribution to the game. --Gilson 18:17, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Keep - I really am not to sure about this one, I mean its powerfull with such a big clip capacity and a slight better accuracy, but then again it can only be found in armouries, hesitant keep. - Whitehouse 19:29, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Keep - Sounds cool, like the one from call of duty 2, that thing was awesome. - User:Blackie Chan 15:36, 19 September 2006
- Keep I like new guns, especially ones that are balanced. --Grigori 22:35, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Keep I like new ideas of any kind, so long as they have quality. This one does. My only quibble is with the name - does it have to be a Lee-Enfield, or can it be a generic bolt-action rifle (such as the Springfield M1903, the Japanese M38, or the German Mauser)? --Sgt. John TaggartUNIT 11/5 NEVAR FORGET WCDZ 23:44, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Keep - Sounds good. Youronlyfriend 05:14, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- keep normally I dont even bother voting on new weapons particularly firearms but this is good Blazefire 06:52, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- Keep - I love the gun (I have one), and you hit every point right. Great detail and planning. John Taggart, the reason it's the Lee-Enfield is because this is England, not America or Japan or Germany. (And why does everyone call it the Mauser, anyway? It's a Kar98K! Mauser is just the manufacturer!) I do want to say that the Enfield has much more kick than any shotgun I've shot, and shotguns are more effective than rifles against zombies because of the spread. -Mark 23:02, 20 September 2006 (BST)

- Kill - I dunno, this is meant to be a bridge between the pistol and shotgun but it could end up making pistols obselete.--Mr yawn 18:42, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill - For those bothered to get to an armoury, this is an elitist weapon, and for those that aren't fussed, they have to waste IP ditching the ammo they find at PDs and malls. Nerfs pistols. --Funt Solo 20:13, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill - As funt, nerfs pistols. --BBM 22:33, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill - too weak, really.--Gage 23:24, 19 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill -The fact you can only find the gun in the Forts is irrelevant. Find the gun, go to mall, same as before. And, given that, it would definately nerf pistols.--Pesatyel 01:43, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- KILL - NO, forthe love of god, there are no more guns NEEDED!!! --CaptainM 02:04, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill - Overpowered. This gun is a monster. High damage, high ammo capacity and high accuracy. It's better than the pistol in every way, and due to the high ammo capacity (less reloading and searching) and high accuracy better than the shotgun. The only balancing point is the lower availability of the gun, which would simply require one trip to the armoury. If the ammo were harder to find, maybe, but still probably not with these stats. --Rgon 04:35, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill - The people who voted before me said it all. --Axe Hack 04:40, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill - It pains me to vote Kill on this, as a L-E makes sense. Unfortunately, the aforementioned reasons steer me towards no. Agent Heroic 08:21, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill - As above. TOo powerful. --Pinpoint 12:21, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill - Armourys are already choke points enough without a special gun that can only be found there. --MarieThe Grove 15:57, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- Kill I actually have suggested something like this before, but it was rejected because it would be simply too powerful when compared with pistols and everyone would ditch their pistols to use this instead. AllStarZ 20:14, 20 September 2006 (BST)

No IP cost for dropping items
Timestamp: | Reaper with no name 17:32, 20 September 2006 (BST) |
Type: | Slight game mechanics change. |
Scope: | Dropping items |
Description: | Currently, it costs 0 AP and 1 IP hit to drop an item. Considering the fact that there are so many useless items in the game (crucifixes and newspapers, anyone?) and only 51 inventory slots, this can be a problem. In fact, the so-called "useless" items are actually harmful as a result of this, because they take up inventory space and players must raise their IP count in order to get rid of them. Also, many players of Urban Dead have multiple characters, and would rather not have their IP count reach 160 in a single day when only using two characters simply because they were searching for shotgun shells and kept getting pistol clips instead. Therefore, I suggest that there should be no IP cost for dropping items. This way the only inconvenience useless items (or other undesired items taking up inventory space) would produce is the time it takes to select them and press the "drop" button. |

- Keep - But for clarifications sake, pistol clips are better than shotgun shells. --Gene Splicer 19:50, 20 September 2006 (BST)
- Keep - It's an unfortunate "backlash" for having a human survivor character that once you're on a roll searching you have to dump useless stuff. I was half tempted to make a zombie skill that lets you drop items as a zombie for no IP hits just to deal with that (hee hee.) This is a hell of a lot simpler, vote Keep or I'll come up with something.. --MrAushvitz 20:46, 20 September 2006 (BST)

- Kill - Here's an idea, don't play so many harmanz. Play both sides. Bring Z numbers up. Don't make life easier for Zergers and Z Spys. David Malfisto 17:57, 26 September 2006 (BST)
- Re - ...How does this make things easier for zombie spies? And how does it make things easier for zergers? All it does is eliminate the IP cost of dropping items. That's not going to help a zerger any more than it will help any one else. And I do play both sides. In fact, I usually play as my zombie character first to ensure that I can use all of his AP without worrying about IP hits. --Reaper with no name 15:32, 27 September 2006 (BST)
