Street Descriptions
Timestamp: | Cap'n Silly T/W/P/C 00:55, 3 February 2007 (UTC) |
Type: | Flavah. |
Scope: | People who ever walked onto empty blocks. |
Description: | Right now, open block descriptions are fairly unflattering: they don't have one. What I'm suggesting is to give them descriptions, eg. You are standing at Acreman Avenue, the houses here burnt down to their frames by a recent fire. or You are standing at Bomman Boulevard, a winding length of road with trees on either side of it. or perhaps You are standing at Silley Park. Large trees dot a dirt path leading to a disused playground. |
Keep Votes
- Author Keep - Just a bit of flavour. Come on, if you can vote keep on a barricade nerf, you can keep a little bit of text addition. --Cap'n Silly T/W/P/C 00:55, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - But I would like some clarification. It would be a selection of descriptions, not individual for every single one, right? SuperMario24 00:57, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Re Of course. --Cap'n Silly T/W/P/C 01:12, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

- Keep - Good idea. -- 02:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I love the smell of flavor in the morning...--J Muller 03:32, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Nice, but if this is to be implemented, then Kevan's got a lot of work ahead of him.--Wikidead 04:11, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - Can't argue with that, but its very possible that Kevin won't get around to it. If people take initiative and write the lines that might help. ...Flavah FLAAAAAVE! Nibiletz 04:23, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep Yet another flavor suggestion that'll probably be left unused. It's a nice thought though. --Jon Pyre 04:26, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keepads flavor in an easy not spamming way.--♠ Che ♠-T GC X 04:52, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I like flavouring--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 04:59, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - But no presets "You are standing at Collins Avenue, and realize that STREETS IS WATCHIN'" please. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 05:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - "You are standing at Wiseman Place, the beginning of the bad side of town. Your mom is standing outside next to a street light." --Uncle Bill 05:09, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - S'good. -Cutlet 07:33, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I voted kill on the 'cade nerf. Can I still vote keep on this?? - BzAli 09:01, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - and link it to a project as described by Pesatyel. --Funt Solo 09:56, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I think the easiest way to do this would be to select a few random descriptions and have them randomly distributed all over the streets/avenues/etc. in the city. --Gateking 11:27, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- You are standing outside this suggestion admiring it in a sort of way. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 13:33, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

- Keep - If the descriptions can somehow be taken from the wiki locations pages and transfered across, maybe by entering a special field on the street location pages? -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 01:08, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - AN easy bit of flavor to implement. --GhostStalker 04:44, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - A nice idea, and one that would make the game, if not better, than slightly more interesting. "You are standing at the Wiki, looking at a suggestions page." --Saluton 05:17, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Good, but I think we should give lots of examples to Kevan. Then all he has to do is fill in the needed spaces. -Mark 20:13, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep If Kevan has time, if not, he'll probably get us to come up with some... MrAushvitz 05:26, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep- Awesome suggestion, I'm all for more flavor.--Grigori 19:58, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep - I don't like the example descriptions you gave, but the essential part of this suggestion (giving descriptions to empty blocks) is fine in my book. --Reaper with no name TJ! 20:16, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

- I actually like the idea. I just don't think we should "leave it to Kevan" to decide what descriptions to put. This suggestions says, to me, "I want some better descriptions"...bu that's it. Maybe we could make this a group project or something. Pick one suburb and come up with descriptions. Basically, if we want this to get implemented (especially since it so simple), WE gotta do the work for Kevan.--Pesatyel 05:10, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Could someone open a new page for this? If so link it to the talk suggestion page so we can all find it. I do agree that it would be far too much work for Kevan alone but what are the chances of him allowing some (provenly) competant programmers from the WIKI near his code... slim me thinks!--Honestmistake 14:30, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with the other kill votes. We should at least provide a list of descriptions that Kevan could pick and choose from.Gm0n3y 18:43, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Color The Items
Timestamp: | Jon Pyre 04:45, 3 February 2007 (UTC) |
Type: | Improvement |
Scope: | Game Inventory |
Description: | I was DNA scanning a zombie today and it took me a moment to find my extractor in the random jumble of guns, first-aid kits, and syringes that was my inventory. I suggest coloring the item buttons to allow different items to be found easier when visually browsing through your inventory.
I suggest tinting all weapons red, ammunition a lighter red, tinting first-aid kits light blue, necrotech equipment gray, generators and fuel yellow, phones & transmitters and radios green, binoculars black, spray cans purple, and leaving all flavor items white. This specific color combination is just a suggestion though, anything to help differentiate things would help. The colors would have to be set to an appropriate level as to not be an eyesore. |

- Author This would be useful and should be simple to do. Heck, it might even be pretty. --Jon Pyre 04:47, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep Ooh, sparkly. --Cap'n Silly T/W/P/C 04:54, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

- Keep - It's not like it's gonna hurt anybody, and it can help find what you're looking for. --Reaper with no name TJ! 20:21, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

- Kill - Too many colors! I rather have a button that organizes your inventory or something like that, not colors. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 04:53, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - I don't think that colours are the answer. I have the UD toolbar extension running in Firefox 2.0, and it is great seeing my inventory as actual .gif images on my screen. Suggest something like that, and you will get a pitiful keep for the IE7 or Safari users around here--Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:03, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, we don't really need more colors. Just a simple organization. weapons/ammo in one area, healing type in another and, well, everything else in a third.--Pesatyel 05:11, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Change - from colours to images, with a note that if images is too much of a server burden then colours might do in the meantime. --Funt Solo 09:46, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Here's an idea...instead of using IE to play UD, use Firefox. Why? It has an inventory combiner so you don't have to waste your time looking for that certain item you need. UDTool has the same thing, but it's for Firefox only. So the best solution? Get Firefox!!! --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 13:36, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think they should just be in different area; like others have said. (Axe Hack, you can't vote kill on the basis of 'get firefox'. Perhaps people don't want to use it?) Jonny12 talk . w(m)^∞ 16:04, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - Yep, separate areas would be nice. And I agree with Jonny12, bad idea to kill on the basis of "get Firefox." --Wikidead 20:51, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - It would make more sense to separate items into categories, or put all items that can be used on another player in a single section, as some people have said. And, personally, I would really HATE having lots of colors on my screen. If you want it, you can arrange for a client-side program that does it, and that won't annoy other users. --Saluton 05:29, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - The UD colour scheme is easy on the eyes, the only brash colours are names. And if that annoys you, you can change them. Make colours optional or changeable, and I'll think about it. --Preasure 09:12, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Kill - God no. Please, just learn to read; colour coding is for retards. --c138 RR - PKer 22:49, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
