Unload weapons.

Timestamp: Mark 02:33, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Type: Improvement.
Scope: Survivors with guns. Lots of guns.
Description: We all know how you can click on a pistol clip and load it into a pistol, or load a shotgun shell into a shotgun. Simple mechanics. However, whoever heard of a gun that couldn’t be unloaded? It’s easy for pistols. Just press the magazine catch and let it slide. Assuming these are double-barreled shotguns, or even if they are pump, it’s still easy to unload.

What this skill would do is simple. The inverse of loading. Click on a shotgun, and it will unload 1 shell at the expense of 1 AP. Click on a pistol, and you will unload the clip. Note, however, that if the amount of ammo in the pistol is less than 6, the clip is thrown away. No need for added complication.

Why even need this? Well, I personally like to have only two pistols, and a lot of clips. If I find a loaded pistol, I always wish I had found a clip instead. Also, you may find a shotgun loaded with 1 shell, while having another 1 shell shotgun in your inventory. You can rearrange the shells to save space. It’s simple, and it works. Vote now!

  1. Author. - I\'d use it a lot. -Mark 02:33, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  2. Keep I like it. --Kamden 02:40, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  3. Keep Short and simple. Excellent.--Cap'n Silly 10:19 6 January, 2007 (UTC)
  4. Keep - A nice choice for the gunners than most of us where when we needed XP for buying skills when we first made our characters. Personally if I find myself keeping guns in my inventory again, I don't think that I'll use this option in my pistols unless they have full clips, but who knows? --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 02:59, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  5. Keep - Yes, a dupe, but an interesting take on it. --Wikidead 08:51, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  6. Keep - Good idea, if maybe a bit too much trouble to implement for the minimal gain in productivity. Gun, and their ammo, have always been unwieldy to manage. Two shotties with a shell in them apiece take up 4 slots, where you should be able to take the shell out of one of them, slot it in the other, and toss the empty one, freeing up half of those slots for other stuff -- boxy T L PA DA 15:07, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  7. Keep - A pretty good idea, even though I'd never use it.
  8. Keep - Not sure how much actual help it would be, but don't see any harm in it either. I kind of vaguely think that somewhere back in the vaults of time something like this was suggested before, but hey, if it was that long ago, the idea deserves to be revisited.--Nosimplehiway 12:49, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
  9. Keep (barely) - It feels pointless to me because you're still spending the same amount of AP (just now instead of later), but if you think long enough, it's basically "banking AP" in the same way as firearms do versus melee weapons. You spend the AP while you have it and don't have to spend it when you need it during the battle or throw away ammo. --Reaper with no name TJ! 20:07, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
  10. Keep - I can see the usefulness of this. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 05:08, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

  1. Kill - Not needed, unless you carry 5 radios. Just carry alot of guns and toss out empty ones if you get a partially full one. --Joe O'Wood TALKCONTRIBSUD 03:07, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: - Example: You have one partially loaded shotgun. You find another partially loaded shotgun. Would you rather have both partially-loaded shotguns, one fully loaded and two FAKs, or two fully loaded ones? Or would you rather toss both out? -Mark 03:16, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: - Example: For some strange reason you only have one shotgun with one shell in it, and your inventory is filled with random crap that you can throw away for 0AP. You find a shotgun with one shell in it. Would you rather have 25 units of free space in your inventory or 24? --Joe O'Wood TALKCONTRIBSUD 03:26, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  2. Seems needlessly complicated and who would risk throwing away bullets? I'd rather MISS! There are MUCH better (no offense) suggestions in Peer Review. Take a look at Redistribute Ammunition and Use Emptiest Firearms First.--Pesatyel 04:28, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: - How is this complicated? -Mark 04:46, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Oops, CNR, I guess. It isn't complicated, it's just stupid. WHY would you throw away bullets? It WOULD be complicated if you kept all those partially empty clips without the ability to combine the bullets in them. To be honest, you'd probably do better just suggesting unloading shotguns ONLY (ignoring pistols). Pistols already have a lot of AP saving advantages compared to shotguns.--Pesatyel 06:47, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  3. Kill - doesn't need to be a skill, and shouldn't include the pistol ammo, because for a pistol clip to be of varying size (ie contain 1-5 shells), it would require 2 inventory spaces (because that's the way items are coded, it would seem). And if it's just a case of throwing away the ammo, you might as well throw away the gun as well. Just not sure this is going to add anything useful to the game. --Funt Solo Scotland flag.JPG 13:48, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  4. Why the hell would survivors want to unload their weapons??!? --Slice 'N' Dicin' Axe Hack 14:52, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  5. Kill - There's already a way to unload your weapons. Aim the pointy end at a zombie and pull the trigger. --Uncle Bill 15:50, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  6. Kill - It's an interesting idea, but I'd rather use a partially-loaded gun instead of trashing its ammo. --Go to Zombie slay3r's Page 16:31, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  7. kill Why? I somehow manage without this. Asheets 16:47, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  8. Kill - Pointless. --Aeneid 20:22, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: -No, in that one you spent 10AP and it automatically reorganized all your ammo to the top, and was a skill for Zombie Hunters. This is simpler, and more realisic. -Mark 03:16, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
    Re - I'm afraid we aren't talking about the same suggestion...--Labine50 MH|ME|P 04:31, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
  2. Spam - The only use you describe it for is searching and finding a pistol with ammo in it and not a clip- but you hardly ever find a pistol with 6 shots so you couldn't get a clip out of it because it would be less than 6 and if it did have 6 shots in it there would be no point in removing it because its a full guna and you'd only have to reload it in again to fire it. It doesn't need a skill to do this either. You said yourself its easy. --MarieThe Grove 12:18, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
