December 19, 2007Location: (Roftwood) The psychotic man in the bloodstained Russian military uniform returned, this time killing Sir AG and then verbally attacking the gentle librarians of the Quartly for their safe-haven policies after one of the brave librarians chastised the man alongside the leader of the Flat Earth Society. Why is it that the so-called Psycho-Killers and murderers of the city will open a no-fire zone, yet the DEM and Malton Marshells ignore the fact a place is a safe-haven and open fire indiscriminately? It makes me wonder who the real monsters in this city are -- the Knights and members of the PKA or the self-appointed law enforcement that takes the law into their own hands?
December 18, 2007Location: (Roftwood) The day started late and was full of more revelry, poetry readings, and philosophical discussions among the various groups within the library. This continued all throughthe day until I was ready to rest for the night. "Greetings, inferior beings." a male voice greeted; astonished by the sheer arrogance of this sort of greeting, I turned to view an Egyptian man in white rages that resembled the linen wrappings of a mummy. "I am the great Pharaoh, Khufu. You are all under my curse. My mummified form will attack you all, once per person, per day, until it runs out of energy. Once it has enough strength, I will resume human form and seek out my Ankh, which was stolen from me. I have received word that it is in a museum somewhere in this city. Anyone who tells me where will be spared my wrath. Until then, I stand outside waiting for the god Osiris to return me to my mummified state." I watched in disbelief as he turned, striding out of the library's open doors. And people say the Knights are insane and arrogant! That one takes the proverbial cake! Then I heard Sir DT laugh, "Oh Khufu, that joker...We all know that that Ankh is safely hidden away in the Chilwell Museum in Ridleybank...Where even the RRF cannot find it." Things are getting peculiar, I think I need to lie down now....

December 16, 2007Location: (Roftwood) I woke a little after dawn, curled up against the clean though bloodstained robes of one of the Knights, Nicholas's head resting on my leg. He grumbled in his sleep as I rose to make use of the facilities and get a much needed cup of coffee; I was halted by one of the female librarians of the Quartly -- though the fake white Santa beard she wore threw my perceptions for a moment -- and she checked my bandages with a brisk efficiency that many have come to develop since the Quarantine of Malton. Things were peaceful for the most part until an insane looking man in bloodstained Russian military fatigues killed Sir M, pronouncing: "Masque killed Sebatian Shawe at Herbert Necrotech yesterday. He said: 'Sebatian Shawe is a member of the DEM. He has been punished'. So Masque has been executed by me. Malton Marshals, Department Of Emergency management."
December 15, 2007Location: (Roftwood) Once more I woke late in the morning, curled up amongst Nicholas and several of the Knights for warmth; the sight of the zombies was still rather unnerving, but so long as they were peaceful, I wouldn't raise a fuss over their presence -- in fact they seemed to be participating in the conversations going on. A most unusual phenomenon and I recall on of the Knights mentioning how one of the Quartly Librarians tends to record the undead for further study. The day continued with poetry readings, discussions and even a snowball fight or two. By the time I was ready to turn in for the night, I passed by the undead on the way back from using the facilities when one suddenly lashed out, gripping me and dragging me over towards it; my weaponry was with my pack by Nicholas and the others, so I had to grapple with it hand to hand as it clawed at me repeatedly. When it bit into me, I shrieked in pain and punched it in the jaw; as I broke free, it raked me with it's claws once more as I stumbled backwards from it. Gripping the bite wound, I hugged the wall to slip away from the hostile zombie. Stumbling, slightly woozy from a possible infection and loss of blood, I fell into the grip of another hostile zombie. We grappled, I pushing it away with my good arm and it clawing at me until Sir DT sprang to my rescue -- for a fellow doctor, he is quite strong and spry, saving me from that ravenous zombie as easily as Nicholas would. "Excuse me, but what sort of zombie is it which kills in the Quartly Library, the only library in Malton which Protects its undead visitors? Honestly, so far we've lost Sir AG, Sir LT, Evillic and laxiola. Really Mucktaar, PigDiet, Xombill, really? Really?" Sir DT scolded as he began to treat my injruies with the utmost care. "And someone's trying to kill Miss Howard? Have you no shame? I think there may be, in this library, some personage not only Illiterate, but guilty of Ignorance as well!" I could hear Sir WV's deep voice as he continued with his own chastisement of the unruly undead. "Ohh...thank you Sir DT..." I murmured as he helped me sit down in the little nest Nicholas, I and several Knights had made. "Oh my, I feel rather dizzy, I think I'll rest for a while..."
December 14, 2007Location: (Roftwood) I woke from where I had curled for warmth between one of the Knights and Nicholas late in the day -- all the fascinating conversations that the occupants of this marvelous library had been having kept me awake and thinking until I finally just passed out where I was sitting leaning up against one of the Knights. Oddly...the constant scent of blood and death that clings to their dark robes doesn't really bother me -- perhaps because of my profession as a doctor since I come in constant contact with both in this city? Because I'm so used to being around them that it barely registers anymore? Content to stay warm where I was, I quietly took a cup of coffee that was passed to me and enjoyed the conversations, poetry readings and friendly debates...which was unfortunately punctuated by the occasional death from less then friendly undead and the occasional moron who didn't want to recognize a 'no-kill' zone. I was a bit more alert when Sir M noticed me, greeting me warmly, "Oh hello, Karen! Welcome." "Hello Sir M," I replied with a gentle smile. The conversations continued for a while and long after the sunset, I found myself nodding off again...

December 10, 2007Location: (Roftwood) When I woke I noticed the heavy blanket of snow outside the broken windows; I wonder if there's snow across the entire city? I headed out to the Quartly Library after a light breakfast. When I arrived, I noticed the doors standing wide open, allowing a small snow drift to form and cold winds to come inside...along with zombies. I was a bit nervous, but my dear allies have reassured me they are supposed to be harmless. Of course, given the cold, I'll probably just pop in and out for short visits; I'm not as hardy as Sir VI and the the others. The blinking of green and white lights from the corner of my eye drew m attention to the freshly cut fir tree in the corner, propped up with a crude stand made from barricade debris, decorated with lights. I clapped in glee, smiling as I exclaimed, "Oh how lovely, the Christmas tree is up already!" I looked over the assembled crowd, noting several of my allies among them, reading various books or even dozing. A befuddled looking man was looking around, his grey shirt torn and bloodstained, his blue jeans tone and black from blood; to my alarm I noticed he was not only without a jacket but barefoot, with only an old toe tag on one foot. The sight of his injuries had me automatically making my way over to him, reaching into my medical bag. As I treated him, the man asked in a raspy voice, "Where am I ? Its been so long since the hunger took over. Thank you for returning my humanity." He looked at me, seeming to notice my old name tag pinned on my white doctor's coat, "Thank you...Karen." "You are welcome. Currently you are inside the Quartly Library, a rather nice place if I do say so myself." I replied and he supplied his name -- Slade. "Mr Slade, you look like you are in need of some much warmer clothing and a decent pair of shoes. Thankfully, the Mall is just south of here and there's an old apartment building next door, you might find something there and a warm place to sleep." I left the library shortly after, getting rather cold due to the open doors and decided to take up residence in a nearby safehouse...

December 4, 2007Location: ( ) My morning started early -- I was busy reviving Sir WV and Sir VI before I could even begin my search for medical supplies.
December 3, 2007Location: ( ) Things were busy today, with the reviving of Sir ME and retreating to a nearby safehouse -- unforutantely it's turned out not to be as safe as I'd have liked when Sir VI was killed by one of those T.I.M.E. people I've been hearing about. I wonder if their insane? After all, what did the man say when he killed Sir VI? "Please remain calm. This is an official timestream correction." Timestream correction? What? How ridiculous! Unfortunately things didn't go too well even after that -- Sir ME misidentified the zombified Sir VI as a threat and shot him to protect the occupants of our safehouse in the wee hours of the morning. Seeing as Sir ME had just retutrned to life and was exhausted, I don't find him faulty in his swift actions in his desire to defend us. Sir DT, a fellow doctor and wonderfully intelligent mind, helped his confused friend and comrade and led him off rest up ad have his wounds tended within the safehouse. "DT, I must give my thanks for the revive. It is greatly appreciated. Say the word and I will return the favour in any way I can..." the grateful Sit LT said in greeting as he joined us. "Also it's great to yet again be in the company of you, ME. Hopefully this time we can both wake up very much alive." I was a bit sleepy as I smiled at the new Knight when he spotted me and bowed deeply, much to my surprise. "And finally what an honour it is to finally meet you, Ms. Karen. I have heard lots about you and your work with us. The pleasure is mine!" "Might I suggest finding less frequented lodgings? Murderers stalk these parts, killing all who may be injured." DT interjected, concern in his voice. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Sir LT -- and Sir DT is quite right. A safer place would be recommended for any and all recovering individuals!" I agreed, finding one of our fellow occupants wounded and in need of medical aid. "Oh dear, all out of medical supplies! I'm afraid I must find the nearest hospital or head to the mall to scavenge for more!" I noted, distressed at my now empty medical bag -- all I had left were a few revivification syringes. First thing in the morning, I'd head out for more supplies...
