What do you think?
As you may have noticed, I've been working (on and off) on the Recruitment ad page. I'm running into a problem, however. It is easy to discover if an image is too large or too many words are used or if the ad is placed directly on the page. I've identified those ads. The problem I'm having now is that is difficult to identify which ads are the problem ads when trying to determine how wide they are. One ad that is too wide can throw off all of them below it. I've hidden and previewed the page without an ad to identify the "problem child" in a section and this worked until I hit the groups under "C". The ads run into each other, for one thing - and I'm not sure why. Secondly, removing one or the other adjusts the width of the remaining one, so I'm at a loss. I'm wondering if I'm missing anything obvious. Could you take a look? Thanks.--Lois talk 10MFH 17:02, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- In addition, the guidelines at the top of the page recommend using "auto-sizing". Is this the same as setting the width of the ad to 100% or am I totally off base on that one? --Lois talk 10MFH 17:04, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Congrats Link!
Congrats on sysop status link! seriously(with no sarcasm)you deserve it! Nuerotoxic2213 14:02, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
A FREE COOKIE... OF EVIL! | |
Dr Eddie Ashford has given Linkthewindow an evil cookie for his successful promotion to sysop.. Go on... eat it. |
Next stop... Bureaucrat. lol! :) --D.E.ATalk 19:13, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Heh :). I don't actually think I'll make a good 'crat (I'm too nice >.>) Thanks anyway! Linkthewindow Talk 19:14, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Sig
Hmmm... What would cause the timestamp to go all screwy like that? All the span tags are closed... It's like there's a pre tag around the timestamp for some reason. --_Vic D'Amato__Dead vs Blue_ 11:29, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Oh wow, and check that out. Okay, at least the timestamp thing looks alright now. (Spoke too soon there too...) Now to figure out how to put it on its own line if it's going to break up. _Vic D'Amato__Dead vs Blue_ 11:31, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm just going to revert my sig to what was working before and test this in the sandbox more. --_Vic D'Amato__Dead vs Blue_ 11:32, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Looks like that did it. What'd you change? _Vic D'Amato__Dead vs Blue_ 11:48, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm just going to revert my sig to what was working before and test this in the sandbox more. --_Vic D'Amato__Dead vs Blue_ 11:32, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
User Hub
Dr Cory referred me here as you made the User Hub, anyway he asked if a bot could be made to maintain it since the issue has just arisen, and after checking the maintenance rules I think it's feasible. Frankly however, is it really worth my effort, or can it manage by itself? -- RoosterDragon 22:43, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- It's not really worth your effort, as it's not a page that really needs frequent maintaining. I've been meaning to hop over there and fix it up for a while now. Hopefully I'll finally do it later. Linkthewindow Talk 06:23, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Apologies
For being a constant pain in the ass. Thanks for letting me know how exactly I am suppose to link pages like that. I kept thinking it was the group categories but obviously that was wrong lol.--President Jackson 00:52, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Re - Eric Bessette
He wants them gone. Thanks Link. --Janus talk 19:06, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- On a second thought, can you let them live for a few days? I want to see if he's going to come back. --Janus talk 19:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Recruitment
Hey there. Saw you on the recruitment talk page along with some other people, but you're my oh-so favorite wiki overlord. I hear there's new rules? I'm looking to put up a recruitment template for FOXHOUND, and I don't know anything about the rules of the page. Can you run by me just real quick what's up? I mean the sizes and everything, whatever there is. I'm fine with the actual code of the template. Thanks for your time. --Met Fan F 22:31, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
I could use some help.
I need help with my signature. I didn't know where to ask, so I'm asking you. Do you have any idea why I am getting this box around my timestamp in my signature. I just created my signature and I'm at a loss as to how to get rid of that box. You can see it there. --Turtleboy412 Talk! In game 23:24, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

PTT
It says the malicious *something* was blocked when I entered the PTT page. You do a bit of wiki stuff elsewhere, is this right? Or am I just being paranoid cause it's chinese? Or is it the porn in the background thats sending the malicious software, not this window? DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 06:29, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- Doesn't look like anything, and a quick scan (of the admittedly huge,) code didn't find anything. That said, it's been viewed over 300,000 times, and the last edit was in January. If something was wrong, it probably would have been found by now. Linkthewindow Talk 06:38, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
This page!
Could you delete it for me please. I made it in error. --D.E.ATalk 15:51, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Great Suburb Massacre 2009 - Rotter's Relief
Our Group Suburb Listings were removed under the assumption that we are no longer active. This is not so as we have an active forum that have new posts everyday or every two days. We believe that assumption as mentioned above was made as our wiki does not show that we are active. We are OK with that oversight (hopefully it doesn't occur again =D), but please be aware that we are always around to revive those in need and give them a chance to breath once more. Forgive me if the tone was a little too harsh as it was not intended. Cheers! --natakaasd, Rotter's Relief Co-Administrator --Natakaasd 08:18, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Zombie Lord
Hi Link, Zombie Lord left a message on my talk page to say that he had deleted the discussion on the suggestion we had been working on and I was just wondering if he should have archived it? I would ask him but he might not know how. I will be putting a modified version up on Monday anyway but as I saw you might still be active I thought I would check with you... It was under the title "advanced rot" and he did it about 2am UK time. --Honestmistake 11:58, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- There's no real rules for removing a suggestion from the discussion page, as nothing there gets archived. Everything gets nuked. That said, you can keep a copy in your userspace if you want. Linkthewindow Talk 12:05, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Check out my developing suggestion?
Hey man, I'm pretty new to UD but I recently thought of a suggestion. I followed the suggestion (haha) to post it in the developing suggestions area, could you look it over for me and see if it makes sense? It's about free running, right near the bottom now, but I think someone might move it later. Thanks! --ScaredPlayer 00:47, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Suggestions
Should all of them be protected? --Janus talk 14:18, 29 March 2009 (BST)
- Aye, it's scheduled. Please don't request protections for them on A/PT as that would make the page explode (and it's discouraged - I've done it before.) I'll get to them later, but I'll be slow (school.) You could ask one of the other sysops, of course. Linkthewindow Talk 21:50, 29 March 2009 (BST)

- Well, you'll first need to upload the image onto the wiki, which I see you've done anyway.
- Sadly, however I don't know of a way to make that a background image. Linkthewindow Talk 06:16, 1 April 2009 (BST)

User Hub Maintenance
I think that inactive part of the template should be changed, a timestamp of the time they were found to be inactive isn't accurate. I think it should be changed to the last edit made by the user, with a link to the users contributions (of course there already is one on the page but just for the sake of it) to make it easier to either judge or update in the long term. It would just make it easier for contributing users to check currently inactive users. Give me your thoughts? DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION (TALK | CONTRIBS) 13:18, 31 March 2009 (BST)
- Fine by me. Talk:User Hub would be a good place to go if you have any further concerns, and this makes it a bit easier to tell when they actually stopped posting. Linkthewindow Talk 06:20, 1 April 2009 (BST)

Quick question.
Do you know of any way to make an image link to a page other than its own? --Cyberbob 12:06, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- No idea, sorry. Although Gnome had a way a while ago. I could use a similar feature too, looking now... Linkthewindow Talk 12:10, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- Put a redirect on the image's page. --Midianian¦T¦DS¦SP¦ 12:15, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- Ooh, thanks. --Cyberbob 12:15, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- Leads to problems if you only need the link once (or it needs to link to different articles each time.) This page is stalked quite a bit (eh, Midianian ;p,) so hopefully someone else will know something. Linkthewindow Talk 12:18, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- Well it's going to be my signature so I definitely won't be needing it just once. As for the other, if it becomes an issue I can have it moved to Image:Smugsig or something like that. --Cyberbob 12:21, 1 April 2009 (BST)
- I stalk all the sysops >:D. I would've replied on Nubis' page but bob posted here before that. I knew it was for a sig and other people have used such sigs before. --Midianian¦T¦DS¦SP¦ 12:25, 1 April 2009 (BST)

You wouldn't happen to know how I get my group's template to actually show on the recruitment page would you? Right now all it does is display it as a link. --User:The Shoemaker/Sig 00:59, 8 April 2009 (BST)
