:::You can export all pages within a category using Special:Export. It just made it easier than going one by one, though I ended up having to split the pages up anyway because of the sheer size of the exported files. Misconduct was 160MB. The combined A/VB Archives were close to 300MB. If I'd known you were active, I would have asked you to run the bot on everything instead of... *ahem*... manipulating Spidey into doing it. :P ~ 20:30, 11 November 2011 (UTC) | :::You can export all pages within a category using Special:Export. Demotions
A classy thing to do would be to not report demotions. Same goes for unsuccessful bids for promotion. Nobody wants their failures splashed across the main page. -- T 10:19, 6 August 2007 (BST)
Unweildy
This template is pretty unwieldy to use and, based on the edit history, error-prone. Would it be possible to get it replaced? I mean, a single table cell that people could add lines to the top of and remove from the bottom would suffice, I think.--Jorm 02:57, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- I've reworked it, so it should be less clumsy to use now. People just need to remember to alternate between using NewsItemYello and NewsItemWhite. -- T 18:24, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- Well, yes, that's a lot easier, but we're still going to have problems where we have to go and change every existing entry when adding a new one (because that will throw off the banding). I'm of the opinion that usability trumps visual pretty (actually, it's not so much of an opinion as it is a fact backed by scientific proof, but that's getting into my job and shit), so I'd just leave off the banding entirely and then we don't have those problems at all.--Jorm 18:29, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- I don't think it's going to be necessary to change all the existing entries for every new update. People can just add new updates in the opposite colour from the next most recent update. There's no reason why the table will always have to start with a yellow band. -- T 20:32, 16 August 2007 (BST)
- That's a good point. We just need to make sure that the template's instructions indicate this.--Jorm 21:16, 16 August 2007 (BST)

Delete Last entry or keep for 2 weeks
i recall we had entries being left for 2 weeks before removal, but in curent list of rules it says "remove last one". Shouldn't this be fixed? --~~~~ [talk] 10:30, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- I noted this as well. My personal view is that, at least in administrive issues, notices should left for as long as the discussion/vote period lasts, but it does say "remove last one"; probably as a leftover of Hagnat's first drawing of the system, or he intended it to be that way. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 13:08, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- The system needs to be changed so that everything that would go into the Wiki News template is also stuck in another page that lists all the news. Then the template could have a link to things that aren't within the four most recent at the bottom, which would be a link to all the archived news or whatever. – Nubis 13:25, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Might be useful to add how many entries there should be just in-case something gets removed/added that shouldn't.--Karekmaps?! 13:27, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Didn't you notice the Go to Wiki News at the bottom of the template? --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 13:28, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- I can't see what that has to do with anything unless you meant to reply to Nubis.--Karekmaps?! 13:48, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- You're right, I was replying to Nubis and my indent was wrong: it's just that you edit-conflicted me and I just added another indent level assuming you were talking about the same thing. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC☺T☺+1 15:22, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Which is great and all, but it isn't used. At all. Which means the template needs to be changed, or the directions changed, so that stuff gets put in both places. Or better yet, Wiki News changed so that the first four items in the list are automatically on the template. – Nubis 17:05, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

- I've 'updated' the template, switching to the Two Weeks idea, and telling people to add the news to UDWiki:News. Hopefully this will work without the main page needing reorganization. – Nubis 00:11, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Updated News
I've updated the text about Grim's demontion attempt, noting that voting has stopped. Linkthewindow 10:06, 9 October 2008 (BST)
Locked?
When did this template become locked? That's annoying. Also the links for the new policy vote are messed up, the vote links to the talk and the talk links to the vote. I reckon a sysop will have to fix that now.--GANG Giles Sednik CAPD 16:38, 24 April 2010 (BST)

- Better create swiftly a news entry about it, in case that anyone misses.
February 15th: Holy shit, that's the longest News Template evar in wiki history!
February 16th: No dawg THIS is longest news template evar! OVER 9000 ENTRIES!

Withdrawn Policies
What's the procedure with them and this template? As a matter of fact, can we get someone to write up a template usage guideline for dealing with removals and new additions including what should be added and what shouldn't? Not just those standard examples but a How To for usage. --Karekmaps 2.0?! 09:18, 16 May 2011 (BST)
- item 4 tells that anything rejected (withdrawn included) should not be reported... and when i wrote this template, only the things listed in the type of news section were supposed to be added to the list --People's Commissar Hagnat [talk] [wcdz] 17:16, 16 May 2011 (BST)
- what hagnat said is how we typically deal with it. -- ϑanceϑanceℜevolution 17:43, 16 May 2011 (BST)
Archive Purge

Where did we here about this purge? I know I haven't been around, but I really can't see where we were told about it; any clues?--The General T Sys U! P! F! 20:06, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
