Good Morning,
Thank you for the information and understanding. It's been years since I used this site.
I have made the accurate correction this time. Nation is up. Looking at it right now.
Also, the Danger Report notification at the top of the edit box does specify it is to be NPOV,
I was trying to help that person, but went about it wrong. I will do better.
I'm sure the usual problem makers will try to tie me to their enemy, but the fact is I was just trying to keep things as accurate as possible. Time for some people to grow up and learn this is not their game, nor their site, and we're all just guests of the creator.
Take care.  {{User:Neutral objector}} 04:30, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

==Warning==
Even if I had actually been the one to make the edit in question, A/V policy is to contact the user and try to work it out with them <b>before</b> aggressively filing a report to get them punished, to promote good faith and newbie-friendliness in the community. I note that my talk page is still nonexistent. If you had left me a message instead of rushing to A/V, perhaps we could have worked out some of the smaller details like "I have never edited the page you accused me of vandalizing." --[[User:Envious|Ɛňvϊoцᵴ]] ([[User talk:Envious|talk]]) 16:21, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

was there any discussion about it on the wiki ? --<small>[[User:Hagnat|hagnat]]</small> 14:45, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
:Not that I'm aware of. It's on Kevan, so our lack of discussion here on the wiki is not really surprising. Frankly, given that he cut off payments from UK customers to comply with updated business regulations a few years back, I was half expecting that the wiki and game might suddenly shut down so that he wouldn't have to worry about any potential GDPR compliance issues, but that hasn't happened (yet). {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 17:06, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
:No. I'm not really the person to discuss the GDPR thing. I honestly don't really know much about it at all, so if anyone else wants to chime in with thoughts, please do. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/a}} 03:47, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

:Yeah, I've been a bit of a bastard lately. On an issue related to my stressed out demeanor, I guess I might explain where I've been; I've been kicked out of home so I don't know when it will be than I can consistently edit again. For clarification, lately I ''have'' had minimal internet access but have chosen not to come back extensively because the occasional stress of UDWiki isn't what I need in my situation, but even despite these events I still plan on attending all Crat duties as they roll in, eg. SA's bid. As for a sig, just do something annoying and blue, should suffice. Unless you're passed plugging that [[ALiM]] garbage, but should I even hope? ;D --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 13:34, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

==Advice==
yes I know that's ridiculous
I'm thinking of making a very public show of the fact I believe a group is systematically zerging on a large scale. I plan to list all the allegations on a page in my usespace. Now thats in no way vandalism is it? Im assuming as its my own page I can protect it myself as well? --{{User:Rosslessness/Sig}} 11:21, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
:Having an opinion isn't vandalism, and there's no control that the admins can exercise over a user's comments (barring stuff that goes against the TOU.) And sysop sub-pages aren't a scheduled protection, but I don't think anyone would care if you protected it. {{User:Linkthewindow/Sig}} 11:24, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
:All of those things are fine by this wiki's guidelines, userpages can have any POV material and you won't be misconducted for protecting it yourself. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 12:40, 14 January 2010 (UTC) --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 12:02, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

What the fuck is this tou and where did it come from? Its too long to bother reading but it seems to me to be some sort of sysop conspiracy. I've never been vandalismised for breaking it before...what the fuck is happening! !{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 08:51, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
anyway how have you been?
:The TOU page has been around for at leased a year i'm pretty sure, made as a project by SA to sort of add a codified list of things that could/couldn't be done on the wiki lest it jeopardise Kevan's ownership of the site and to make sure nothing we do takes it down. Conndraka used to be pretty big on it. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 09:11, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
::I'll add by saying that most of the stuff against the TOU was considered vandalism/misconduct before it was even created into a page, so you never really had much of an excuse anyway ;D --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 09:12, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

==hey on the topic of de-escalations==
Seems that the user Pyropardus is taking over user Pardus and other associated pages.  Afaik, this should not be done.  http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Special:Contributions/Pyropardus  --{{User:Gardenator/sig}} 22:40, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
just had an idea which might stop people like jed abusing the system forever while appeasing the people who think de-escalations have value: only allowing people a limited number of de-escalations (thinking between 3-5). y/n? {{User:Cyberbob240/Sig}} 06:36, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
:I'm interested to hear what you think- I saw those and interpreted it as the same user coming back under a new account (perhaps they forgot their old password) and just reclaiming their old projects, which isn't uncommon. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 22:53, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
:That's a good idea. I have a few ideas relating to that now so I'll give it some thought and add some more ideas later tonight. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 06:39, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
::Particularly because all they've done on that group page is do a couple of small spelling fixes, etc. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 22:54, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
:Personally, I'd just lengthen the time that they have to wait between de-escalations. Instead of 1 months (plus a certain number of edits), I'd bump it up to 6 months. Career vandals wouldn't be able to exist if they only got two de-escalations a year, but for people genuinely trying to reform, it'd give them a way to work it off over time. If you only allow a fixed number of de-escalations, eventually you'll start losing contributing members who get a warning every now and then (e.g. based on A/VD, we'd be close to or would have already lost both you and SA had the fixed-number system been in place from the start). {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 07:12, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
:::Ok, and that is fine reasoning; however, Pyropardus blanked user Pardus's page and erased quite a bit of data off of two other pages.  Now compare that to user Igotmadenoughtomakeanewaccount, who was warned for making edits to user Shaqfu's page. There was some back and forth so it was apparent that Shaqfu didn't want the edit to his page. The edits were the addition of two templates, one of which called user A Helpful Little Gnome a "five alarm fuckwit". That appeared to draw user A Helpful Little Gnome into creating a V/B case against user Igotmadenoughtomakeanewaccount.
::What makes you think that SA and I would have allowed ourselves to rack up so many escalations in the first place if we were only allowed a limited number of de-escalations? As for the people "genuinely trying to reform", that was the whole point of having warnings come before bans in the first place. I don't have much sympathy for people that would need more than 3-5 de-escalations (not to mention all the various degrees of bannage before the perma) to "genuinely reform". {{User:Cyberbob240/Sig}} 08:43, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
::Thanks for showing your faith in me ich. Thanks a lot.--[[¯\(°_o)/¯|<span style="color: DarkMagenta"> ¯\(°_o)/</span>]][[User_talk:Suicidalangel|<span style="color: DarkTurquoise">¯</span>]] 11:10, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
:::I think he's going by pure numbers of escalations under the current system, which is dumb. {{User:Cyberbob240/Sig}} 12:05, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
::::^+1--[[¯\(°_o)/¯|<span style="color: DarkMagenta"> ¯\(°_o)/</span>]][[User_talk:Suicidalangel|<span style="color: DarkTurquoise">¯</span>]] 12:24, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
:::::Ok, well, clearly the point I was trying to make did not get communicated. Whatever. <s>SA is dumb</s>, and that point isn't important (if you really want to argue it, hit me up on IRC). In any case, if users could average, at most, one escalation every six months without getting banned, that means that unless they stuck around for a few years, it'd actually be more strict than using a fixed number, while also being more forgiving in the long-term. To me, that seems like a win-win, since it keeps reform while eliminating the possibility of career vandals. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 12:52, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
::::::Or they could get the fucking message after however many chances we give them. You know, either-or. {{User:Cyberbob240/Sig}} 13:13, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
:::::::Indeed, they could, but then we'd call it a win-lose instead. I just don't see the need to throw the baby out with the bath water here. I mean, if your solution was the only way, I would definitely support it since it's an improvement over what we have. But from what I can see, there are other ways to curb vandalism, and not all of them sacrifice reform in the process. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 13:29, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
::::::::Who here actually needs more than 3 de-escalations? Misconduct ones don't count as an escalation for this purpose.--[[¯\(°_o)/¯|<span style="color: DarkMagenta"> ¯\(°_o)/</span>]][[User_talk:Suicidalangel|<span style="color: DarkTurquoise">¯</span>]] 13:32, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
:::::::::Sometimes I miss the simple things when I get caught up in the concept. I think SA just pointed out a simple thing that changes my mind. He's right. There really aren't people that would need that many, and reform should've taken place well before that if it was going to happen at all. As silly as it sounds after all that, I'm convinced. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 12:08, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

:::::Sure. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 05:52, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
::You don't think a policy such a this overpowers sysops by making vandalism that much worse? The current system works because if you are targeted by sysops or whatever a warning isn't really an issue coz you can work it off. Have you noticed how shoddy most vandalism decisions are? If something like this was brought in you'd want to make damn sure every ruling of vandalism was 100% deserved and maybe actually start bringing about some serious punishment for sysops who have no idea what they're doing and flippyflop around making rulings based on whos dick they're sucking at the time. Just a thought. {{User:J3D/ciggy}} 09:44, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
:::::So just to put my 2c in now the case is done is I'm pleased you bought the case forward because it can be better to be safe than sorry, and I'm cool with that, although I consider the precedent you seem wary of to simply be "assuming good faith", which is the vibe I got from the whole situation (luckily I was right, though I could have easily been wrong and looked like a tit). Nothing wrong with escalating an issue because no one else has brought anything up because of assumptions. :::Oh my, having a talking to about bias in the sysop position by J3D really boggles my mind. Take Aichon's A/VD example and tell me how many users will have been disadvantaged by this, who didn't deserve it in the first place. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 15:19, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

::::And it is an idiotic stance to back up anyway, sysops are put in the position under the assumption they can handle such buttons in a responsible way. Whether or not such users should have gained the position in the past is a totally different matter- but what you have is a case of a pretty  unmerited persecution complex, which just tries to turn the aim of the policy away from stopping career vandals onto the topic of how the already working A/VB system can be misused by an overzealous sysop. It's a different issue entirely and, if it were even true, will have been a problem for years, not something to just bring up in this instance. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 15:29, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Could I get '''[http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=Player_Killing_for_Noobs&diff=1647239&oldid=1647229 this page]''' reverted back to its earliest form? I could probably do it myself, but seeing that you've put it up for A/SD, I thought I'd ask first... it could be expanded on, in it's original form anyway. -{{User:Poodle_of_doom/signiture}} 00:48, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

:whoa, lrn2joke much :/ and besides what you just said means near nothing to me, because my point is if you have the time to bitch via talk pages of policy discussions you have time to go to A/VB first and help with week-old cases (which I never cycled cause I was the only dude to rule on them in the first place). I don't mind you not being here, I mind it more when you come here after 6 days and stir the few users editing seriously. I appreciate your help, DDR. Since you are knowledgeable about signatures, perhaps you could point me to a link that shows/explains how to take a descriptive two-line string of code that delineates a signature ("font-family", etc.) and turns it into the compact form such as your <nowiki>[[User:DDR|DDR]]</nowiki>. I want to be able to turn the strings of descriptors in mine to the compact version of [[Catherine Cushing|Lizzie Donner]].  I made up a signature for each alt and put them on the bottom of my homepage, User: Catherine Cushing. I feel like the code isn't written up properly somehow. Maybe that's because I don't understand any of it (just filched it from other peoples' pages.)
:Thank you almighty recategorizer. {{User:The_Rooster/Sig}} 23:01, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

==Hey==

:Hey Catherine. Thanks for the well wishes for London. I'm excited to see it.
:So I think there are two solutions to your questions. Please correct me if you have more questions or if I didn't quite understand your queries (it's been a while since I've really troubleshot signatures).
:The first answer to your question is possibly best answered [[Help:Signatures#Customized_Signatures|here]], with some examples of signature styles etc. that will still help you out with coding and what codes might make your signatures look like what.
:As for your second question, I have a complex signature that appears in code just as '''<nowiki>{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}</nowiki>'''when I type my <nowiki>"~~~~"</nowiki>. The way you do that is to go to preferences (top right of this whole page) and go to signature and you add '''<nowiki>{{SUBST:Nosubst|User:YOUR SIG HERE}}</nowiki>.''' So for example, mine says right now, ''' <nowiki>{{SUBST:Nosubst|User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}</nowiki>'''. You are able to go to the real page of [[User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5]] and see the code for yourself, but thanks to this nifty trick, all that code doesn't end up on a page every time I type the signature, the wiki just uses that code as a template.
:Does that help you at all? {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}} 09:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

== Not a problem ==
::That is extremely helpful and very kind of you, DDR, thank you.  (I didn't realize until just now that the signatures I composed have no date and time stamping function included. Ugh.) --[[User:Catherine Cushing|Catherine Cushing]] ([[User talk:Catherine Cushing|talk]]) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
:::You can manually add the timestamp! Just type in <nowiki>~~~~~</nowiki> after you put in the template to show the sig you want. Also, if you create a separate page for each signature (just like DDR has) then those pages can be used as the template coding then adding in the five tildes afterwards. You might want to ask Bob what he does, as he switches between signatures depending on what he is doing on the wiki. He has his main one, but then for danger status updates, he often uses his Danger Updater signature. So he might be able to give you another point of view on how to do things with your alt's signatures :) {{User:Stelar/sig}} 11:16, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
::::For my side signatures, I have a subpage for them (just like a regular signature), e.g. at [[User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig]]. Then, I type ''<nowiki>{{User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig}} ~~~~~</nowiki>'', which transcludes the side signature and then adds just the timestamp (with five tildes, as opposed to four tildes, which would also include my regular signature). {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 11:58, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
:::::Thanks all for pitching in to answer that third query that I skimmed past... Basically as Bob and Stelar have said above in regards to getting your 'alternate' signatures to appear as though you are speaking as one of your alts. (Might as well do one for this here message, by manually typing an old sig and then adding the 5 tildes.) {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig2}} 04:10, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hope I did everything correctly.--{{User:Yonnua Koponen/signature‎}} 18:36, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

The new [[UDWiki:Featured_Articles/Good_Articles#New_Nominations|FA Nominations]] are supposed to be cycled after 7 days, and there are two that have been up for over two weeks each. It could use some tending too,... but I felt uncomfortable doing so myself since one of them is something I nominated, and I'm not a moderator,... could I have you look into it when ever you get an oppertunity? -{{User:Poodle_of_doom/signiture}} 03:23, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Well hello again! I remember your name from back in the day, and I recently came back myself. Just wanted to say hi. Anyway... There's a couple pages that I had created, that I won't use/have no use for anymore. I was looking for some help on deleting them. These are the pages in question. Thanks!

I saw you were in the Krinks Power Station for a few days, before it fell earlier today. I was wondering what your impression was of what was going on in and outside the plant. My summary would be that it was a whole jelling about pretty much nothing. Both sides in the conflict are pretty small. I however do think it is sad the PhiloKnights felt the need to clear out the place.

--[[User:Zyckde|zyckde]] 18:44, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
:Hmm. I left seemingly moments before an apparent PK wipe-out and visited soon after, unfortunately. However in the days I spent there, it didn't seem like a particularly stressful conflict. I only saw one PKing by the PK while I was there. Althought it seems like I missed an important event there, too :( I don't blame the Philosophe Knights for doing what they did, because of a dry spell plenty of players in UD has been itching to join a 'battle' or a 'war' for at leased two years now, it's just a shame they more or less ruined the main point of the battle. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 20:55, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

== Deletions  ==

I'm sure there's not, but is there any way to recover deleted wiki pages? I ask because the Team Survivor pages which were recently deleted are cited in a [http://zombies.dementiastudios.org/boards/index.php?topic=12.90 zerg case] and I rather suspect that that was why they wanted them deleted. --[[User:The Hierophant|Papa Moloch]] 21:31, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
:We can "undelete" pages, although undeleting pages that are requested by the author is probably more trouble than it's worth, although I could just copy the contents into a user subpage and note that it's just an unaltered copy of Team Survivor for reference purposes if that's fine? By the way, the page hasn't been deleted yet if you need to salvage the data. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 22:11, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
::Looks like it's been done already. Good luck with the case, etc. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 22:12, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
:::I already suggested he copy the data in case the pages are re-deleted, which the probably will be. Though remember, there was never a deletion request, just a vague sort of crit 7 scenario. {{User:Misanthropy/Sig}} 22:17, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
::::I still think the data will need to be copied over to another secure place sooner rather than later (I'll be happy to do it if you like) as it will most likely be deleted again. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 22:23, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

So how do you think the next months going to play out, crat's wise? Boxys up for vote first, yes? --{{User:Rosslessness/Sig}} 13:22, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
:Actually, I am up for first vote, but Boxy has expressed (rather admirably) that he wants out too since he's been inactive. Although, as a big (and not secret) gay-for-boxy fan, I dislike he's going back down the ladder but it's the right thing to do so it makes me love him even more. Honestly? Probably Misanthropy and Aichon (as a surprise oooooh controversy tip) or you (if you go for it) tip too. But then again, if it ain't you three I'm tipping, who else is there in the comp? Krazy Monkey, SA, Karek and Nubis already proved that the "obligatory A/PM just before the A/BP election" works like a charm for sentimental popularity/respect which is why I'd shove Aichon on a high pedestal in the A/BP race, although that's assuming two spots are up. One spot for A/BP's election would leave me voting for Misanthropy, because he's been around here the most in the last month or so and that's always something I respect.
:To be honest, a week ago I wanted to elect Yonnua for Op, so I'd have the pleasure of cycling his bid (assuming it went jolly) and then we'd have another good user in the race for op. That'd make things more fun for everyone, of course. --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 13:36, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
::You're talking to the man who regularly voted for swiers for no real reason. My money's on Iscariot. But fresh blood, man. No doubt Giles will bid in a month or so, even the scary prospect of Poodle is on the horizon. I could always email Grim? --{{User:Rosslessness/Sig}} 13:40, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
:::I know this sounds like a egotistical/douchbaggy thing to say, but the day Boxy ''and'' I step down from Crat, Iscariot will have his best chance at asyaop yet, he knows it too. Not that that's bad, of course. If he gets in op then he can, I'll most likely always be against it but i'm more than happy to voice myself as a regular user in relation to him when the time comes. Giles? Perhaps, as a guy who has too many issues with him in personal opinion (I generally disagree with almost everything he's done since his meatpuppeting saga about [[Civility]]) I wouldn't support him but that doens't mean he couldn't get the job, though I think there's beter out there. Poodle's a no=no for me. He's a simple guy which is good, but he makes simple mistakes whichs hows he isn't in the wiki for the buttons/responsibility yet. A heap of his work on the wiki is for his group which is good, but it means he isn't in the wiki for the buttons/responsibility yet. Atm, I'm loving Aichon and Yonnua, Haliman always did alright stuff when he went on his short "become sysop!" streaks but they are infrequent and almost invisible. By the way, is ZPWiki back up at all? Every time I uploaded a new batch of images I fear I crashed it again... --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 13:47, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
::::Oh, and I tried emailing grim to troll him about me getting crat (just to give him a brick wall to bash his head against about concernign the difrection of this wikis userbase) but he doesn't have a proper email address set up to it anymore, to avoid that exact thing, methinks =[ --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 13:52, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

::::::Oh man, I promised to come back for that, can't wait! --{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 18:38, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
::::If you ask me, if there's only one spot available, Ross has the 'crat position, hands down. SA is the only other 'op who would naturally pull in a lot of people, but he's been in-and-out and inactive enough recently that I doubt he'd get the support he has in the past. As you mentioned, I guess you could say I'm kinda the "darling" of the moment, and I suspect Iscariot nominated me with this exact timing for just that reason, so I might have a better shot right now than I normally would. That said, as with the sysop position, I'm not really looking for the 'crat position, so I'll be throwing my vote behind someone else, which will surely split some of the votes that would have otherwise gone to me. Plus, I'm new at this, and all it'll take is one newbie sysop mistake between now and the next BP for my image to be tarnished, which is not a problem in the long-run, but hurts my odds at a promotion in the short-term. Misanthropy is popular, and he's active and doing good work, so I could see him making it a good competition with Ross, and if there were two spots open, the second one certainly would be his, I think. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 19:27, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

So much talk about me. Let's clear some things up, many moons ago I stated that I would only accept nominations from three users and I'm sticking to that. Goo luck getting any of them to nominate me :P Aichon was nominated to boost the numbers of active sysops and to prevent an unsuitable candidate getting the nod just because it may be perceived that we were low on ops, we're stuck with RedHawkOne due to a situation like that. Next crat? That's easy, it'll be Ross. After that if Boxy steps down in the next month or so I can almost guarantee Mis getting the second slot, longer than a month and it breaks into a three horse race depending on activity levels. Would you all like my wisdom on anything else? -- {{User:Iscariot/Signature}} 19:37, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

== Location Categorization ==

While demerging locations, I really can't help but notice that the location categories are a real mess (good luck trying to find what you're looking for [[:Category:Junkyards|here]], for example). I'm thinking of possibly sub-categorizing these into suburb/district location pages, but at the same time worry it might defeat the point of demerging. Feedback?--{{:User:Red Hawk One/sig}} 02:18, 29 March 2010 (BST)
:Demerging creates individual pages, subcategories leave those pages intact but with easier divisions to follow. It's not defeating the point so much as following on pretty logically. It's a good idea, I think. {{User:Misanthropy/Sig}} 02:23, 29 March 2010 (BST)
::Yeah, I figured that it would be nice to have an individual page for each location, but at the same time have an easily cataloged way of finding it. Now the problem is creating and sorting 2400 or so new specific categories...

Re: nation library edit:

Good Morning, Thank you for the information and understanding. It's been years since I used this site. I have made the accurate correction this time. Nation is up. Looking at it right now. Also, the Danger Report notification at the top of the edit box does specify it is to be NPOV, I was trying to help that person, but went about it wrong. I will do better. I'm sure the usual problem makers will try to tie me to their enemy, but the fact is I was just trying to keep things as accurate as possible. Time for some people to grow up and learn this is not their game, nor their site, and we're all just guests of the creator. Take care. How can I be a sockpuppet if Im a real person, and don't like a hand up my butt?

Dont be made just because Im making more sense than you. Next time just follow my lead and we can all get there together correctly and accurately!

A/V report

Even if I had actually been the one to make the edit in question, A/V policy is to contact the user and try to work it out with them before aggressively filing a report to get them punished, to promote good faith and newbie-friendliness in the community. I note that my talk page is still nonexistent. If you had left me a message instead of rushing to A/V, perhaps we could have worked out some of the smaller details like "I have never edited the page you accused me of vandalizing." --Ɛňvϊoцᵴ (talk) 16:21, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

I had a brain fart making a report about the wrong account, apologies there. I copied the most recent A/VB report over while on the run and somehow didn't remember to change it to the actual accused. A ZOMBIE ANT 22:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

gdpr

was there any discussion about it on the wiki ? --hagnat 14:45, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

Not that I'm aware of. Aichon 17:06, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
No. I'm not really the person to discuss the GDPR thing. I honestly don't really know much about it at all, so if anyone else wants to chime in with thoughts, please do. A ZOMBIE ANT 03:47, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

I'm interested to hear what you think- I saw those and interpreted it as the same user coming back under a new account (perhaps they forgot their old password) and just reclaiming their old projects, which isn't uncommon. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 22:53, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
Particularly because all they've done on that group page is do a couple of small spelling fixes, etc. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 22:54, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
Ok, and that is fine reasoning; however, Pyropardus blanked user Pardus's page and erased quite a bit of data off of two other pages.
What I really don't like is the precedent this could set. Does this mean that anyone can make a new account like say user NewMartyBanks, and then proceed to edit user MartyBanks profile and erase large portions of the group he is associated with?--Emot-siren.gif LABIA on the INTERNET Emot-siren.gif Dunell Hills Corpseman The Malton Globetrotters#24 - You rated this wiki '1'! Sure. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 05:52, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
So just to put my 2c in now the case is done is I'm pleased you bought the case forward because it can be better to be safe than sorry, and I'm cool with that, although I consider the precedent you seem wary of to simply be "assuming good faith", which is the vibe I got from the whole situation (luckily I was right, though I could have easily been wrong and looked like a tit). Nothing wrong with escalating an issue because no one else has brought anything up because of assumptions. I think you did the right thing. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 16:37, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, I was wary for that above reason, plus I think pardus was one of the free speech for all people we were arguing with on discord. I wanted to make the issue known before when I first noticed it, but I wanted to wait to see of there were anymore edits. It did get some humorous stuff going when bob and pyropadus started edit warring. --Emot-siren.gif LABIA on the INTERNET Emot-siren.gif Dunell Hills Corpseman The Malton Globetrotters#24 - You rated this wiki '1'! There's enough other stuff going on to keep me busy in life, and those things are the areas I'd like to be putting more of my attention going forward, so it's time to clear out the old time sinks that I've allowed to accumulate. Good call. We all have to do it eventually. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 02:10, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

Signature and template questions

I appreciate your help, DDR. Since you are knowledgeable about signatures, perhaps you could point me to a link that shows/explains how to take a descriptive two-line string of code that delineates a signature ("font-family", etc.) and turns it into the compact form such as your [[User:DDR|DDR]]. I want to be able to turn the strings of descriptors in mine to the compact version of Lizzie Donner. I made up a signature for each alt and put them on the bottom of my homepage, User: Catherine Cushing. I feel like the code isn't written up properly somehow. Maybe that's because I don't understand any of it (just filched it from other peoples' pages.)

Since I wrote that I did find a place that I think explains how to make a nice signature properly. It is: https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_intro.asp

Have some fun in London. I haven't been there in 18 months (I'm in Oregon, above the Pacific in the USA.) It was August and the weather in Whitby was perfection. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Catherine Cushing (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.I forgot; sorry.Catherine Cushing (talk)But the signature I tried to write doesn't have the time and date in it!!!--Catherine Cushing (talk) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey Catherine. Thanks for the well wishes for London. I'm excited to see it.
So I think there are two solutions to your questions. Please correct me if you have more questions or if I didn't quite understand your queries (it's been a while since I've really troubleshot signatures).
The first answer to your question is possibly best answered here, with some examples of signature styles etc. that will still help you out with coding and what codes might make your signatures look like what.
As for your second question, I have a complex signature that appears in code just as {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}when I type my "~~~~". The way you do that is to go to preferences (top right of this whole page) and go to signature and you add {{SUBST:Nosubst|User:YOUR SIG HERE}}. So for example, mine says right now, {{SUBST:Nosubst|User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}. You are able to go to the real page of User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5 and see the code for yourself, but thanks to this nifty trick, all that code doesn't end up on a page every time I type the signature, the wiki just uses that code as a template.
Does that help you at all? DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 09:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
That is extremely helpful and very kind of you, DDR, thank you. (I didn't realize until just now that the signatures I composed have no date and time stamping function included. Ugh.) --Catherine Cushing (talk) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
You can manually add the timestamp! Just type in ~~~~~ after you put in the template to show the sig you want. So he might be able to give you another point of view on how to do things with your alt's signatures :) stelar Talk|MCM|EBD|Scourge 11:16, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
For my side signatures, I have a subpage for them (just like a regular signature), e.g. at User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig. Then, I type {{User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig}} ~~~~~, which transcludes the side signature and then adds just the timestamp (with five tildes, as opposed to four tildes, which would also include my regular signature). Bob Moncrief EBDW! 11:58, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks all for pitching in to answer that third query that I skimmed past... Basically as Bob and Stelar have said above in regards to getting your 'alternate' signatures to appear as though you are speaking as one of your alts. (Might as well do one for this here message, by manually typing an old sig and then adding the 5 tildes.) -- DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION -- 04:10, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
This is fantastically generous of you all, and I actually understand it!!! (I believe it has also illuminated the idea of posting a template one has made on a file page, so that it actually works out in the UD Wiki world.) I can't tell you how incredibly grateful I am for your help. P.S. I wasn't sure I was allowed to insert a live link for something outside the UD Wiki, so I put spaces into the address for that w3 school tutorial thingee I found. Catherine Cushing (talk) 08:58, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
You're welcome! Never be afraid to ask a question, there will always be someone around that can answer it! The wiki can be a bit confusing until you get the hang of it. stelar Talk|MCM|EBD|Scourge 10:44, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Sorry to see you go!

Just received your message: "Editor's summary: Term as crat has finished". I wanted to thank you for all your help and kind advice. Be well. Catherine Cushing (talk) 23:27, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

Hey Catherine, thanks for your well wishes, but no need to worry- I’m still an administrator, nothing has really changed in practical terms. I’ve just handed the role of beaurecrat (a slightly higher position with an added admin responsibility) to Bob Moncrief. It’s ok and I’ll still be around 👍 DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 01:42, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
Well, that's good news! I'm glad you both got a well-deserved promotion and that you will still be around. (Promise not to pester you for advice, though. ;) ) Catherine Cushing (talk) 02:05, 16 June 2019 (UTC)

When I make pancakes the first one always sticks and gets fucked up. Any advice for me? -- SomethingSomething.gif 20:36, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
Hmm. That's a tough one. I'd recommend doing an Open Discussion for a meandering session to gain consensus on the issue, vote on the best way through Policy Discussion and if you continue to have issues bring the suggesters to Arbitration so we can bring out justice to the troublemakers. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 22:59, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing that posting, DDR.

I'm not sure when I'm supposed to sign things I write (except messages like this one, obviously.) The revised parks list just seemed to be important enough to be able to back up with my work list, to document, in other words. Catherine Cushing (talk) 04:58, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

For pages like that, I'd just make the edit, and put the reasoning in the edit summary. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 12:01, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
That should have occurred to me, Bob. I'll do that if any similar situation comes up. Thanks. Catherine Cushing (talk) 10:10, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
No problem. Out of curiosity, where’d you get the newer count? DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 12:05, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Deleting Pages

Well hello again! I remember your name from back in the day, and I recently came back myself. Just wanted to say hi. Anyway... There's a couple pages that I had created, that I won't use/have no use for anymore. I was looking for some help on deleting them. These are the pages in question. Thanks!
